Currently, augmented reality (AR) videogames that dominate the scene tend to be along the lines of Pokemon Go, Ghostbusters World or The Walking Dead: Our World. Yet there are more on offer, such as Tender Claws’ Tendar or escape room title ARia’s Legacy. Another in the escape room genre that’s recently arrived is Adver2Play’s Scriptum.
A mystery puzzle experience which uses AR technology to create interactive environments anywhere you like, players have to find the clues to reach the exit. But there’s no time to waste as they have to solve the puzzles in less than 15 minutes. Scan the floor, get in the portal, and think fast to solve the challenge.
Created by Spanish indie development studio Adver2Play, Scriptum has been inspired by the increasing popularity of real-life Escape Rooms which have popped up all around the world in the last few years.
“There might be other detective games out there, but Scriptum is the first app to put you inside of a real Escape Room”, says Alex Balcells, CEO at Adver2Play. “Now that we see such a high interest in our app, we realize that our investment and effort has been worth it”.
Developed using both ARCore and ARKit, Scriptum is compatible with a range of Android and iOS devices, available on both the Appstore and GooglePlay for free. VRFocus will continue its coverage of the latest AR titles, reporting back with further updates and launch announcements.
