Quest Users Can Play a Library of Top PC VR Games for Free for a Month with This Promo

Looking for some free PC VR games to play on Quest? Viveport, HTC’s storefront for VR games and apps, is throwing out free promo codes to owners of Oculus Quest and Quest 2 which will let you play all of the games enrolled in its Infinity program for a whole month.

Viveport really has come a long way in the past few years by streamlining its interface and making it more attractive to developers financially so they’ll list their games there. To get more Quest users on board with Infinity, HTC is throwing out a limited-time promotion starting today to both new and existing Viveport Infinity members which lets you play for free for a month. The promo ends on August 30th, so make sure to act fast.

Right now there’s over 500 games available through Infinity that support Quest over link, some of which are definitely worth your time. Highlights include The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners, Superhot VR, Moss, Until You Fall, Stride, I Expect You to Die, and Gun Club VR.

Viveport Infinity normally costs $13 per month when billed monthly, or $9 when billed annually—and typically includes a free 14-day trial. There’s no obligation to pay after the trial is up if you decide to opt-out. As it is, that’s a pretty great deal considering the list of titles on offer through the Infinity subscription service, but extra time never hurt.

To redeem, you’ll need to download and update the Viveport desktop app and connect your Quest to a USB 3.0 port or a Type-C port on your VR-capable computer. You should then see a pop-up message like the one above. The code, which you can redeem via the ‘Redeem Code’ dropdown in the app, must be used by December 31st, 2021, at 23:59pm PST, or it will expire.

If you don’t see the message above for whatever reason, or can’t because you’re using Air Link, you can also submit your Quest headset S/N (the 14-digit alphanumeric serial number) and your Viveport account email to Viveport Support to get the code.

Check out our hands-on with Viveport from 2019, a majority of which still rings true if you’re hesitant to download yet another store front on your PC. It’s a great way to play a good chunk of the top PC VR games, especially if you’re a ‘one and done’ type of gamer and rarely revisit games you’ve already beaten.

Viveport Sweetens the Pot for Developers This Year with Increased Revenue Split

To thank developers, and further attract more games to its PC VR app store Viveport, HTC is temporarily bumping up its developer revenue share for the full year.

From January 1st to December 31st of this year, HTC is increasing net revenue share from its typical 70/30 split to 80/20 for one-time purchases, in-app purchases, and games enrolled in its Viveport Arcade program.

Outside of high-performing games which generate $10 million or more in sales, Steam still offers developers a 70/30 split, so it’s clear HTC is making an effort to pad out Viveport with games either already on Steam, or looking to launch there in the next year.

Since its launch in August 2016, Viveport has changed a great deal, and offers a pretty good selection of top VR games, including The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners, Friday Nights at Freddy’s VR: Help Wanted, Moss, Paper Beast, and Creed: Rise to Glory.

Outside of offering support for both SteamVR and Oculus Rift games, the platform also boasts one of the best value propositions through its Netflix-style game subscription service, Viveport Infinity—something we think earned the platform a second chance after a pretty lackluster launch a few years back.

Viveport Infinity already features a 80/20 split, so now the whole platform is looking a lot more competitive.

Viveport Annual Subscribers Receive Free Copy Of The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners

Viveport is turning four, and to celebrate HTC is giving a free copy of The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners to new and existing users who have an annual subscription to Viveport Infinity. Plus, more game are joining the Viveport Infinity lineup.

Viveport Infinity is HTC’s VR subscription service, allowing you to play and access a select library of VR games, apps and more. Infinity isn’t just available for HTC headsets either — the service supports HTC Vive, Valve Index, Oculus Rift, Oculus Quest via Link and Windows MR headsets.

Similar to Microsoft’s Game Pass service for PC and Xbox games, you only have access to the Infinity content while you remain subscribed to the service. However, in celebration of the Viveport platform turning four, Infinity members who have an annual subscription can redeem a free copy of The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners to keep permanently. So even once your annual subscription ends, you’ll still have access to Saints & Sinners through Viveport.

The promotion runs until October 11 and is available to new and existing annual subscribers. If you’re currently a monthly Infinity subscriber, you can upgrade to an annual subscription to take advantage of the offer. New annual subscribers who join before October 11 will also be able to redeem a permanent copy of the game. An annual Infinity membership costs $107.88 total, but there’s a monthly billing option so you can pay in $8.99 installments.

HTC also announced that two new games are joining the Viveport Infinity library — Moss and L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files. Viveport Infinity subscribers should now have access to the titles in their library.

Viveport Infinity is available as a monthly and annual subscription. You can read more about the Saints & Sinners offer for annual subscriptions here.

Tournament Paintballer Snapshot VR Hits Steam in September

Snapshot VR

Giant Scam Industries paintball inspired arena shooter Snapshot VR launched yesterday for PC VR headsets on Viveport. The studio has now confirmed the early access launch on Steam will take place at the beginning of September (not August like the listing currently states).

Snapshot VR

Available through the Viveport Infinity subscription service, Snapshot VR is a quick-fire first-person shooter (FPS) where rounds can be over in less than a minute. Modelled on real-life paintball tournaments, two teams of up to five players must eliminate each other in compact, dynamic maps.

Snapshot VR dispenses with a lot of the bloat of other multiplayer shooters, featuring one-shot kills, physics-based projectiles, and nearly unlimited map variety. There’s a training mode where players can place either stationary or moving targets via the 2D Paintball Field Creator, then head out solo or as a team to run drills to learn how to be a cohesive unit.

“We are stoked to finally get Snapshot VR into the hands and headsets of players,” said Jesse Keogh, Founder and Lead Engineer at Giant Scam in a statement. “We’ve been working night and day to bring a polished and, most importantly, fun multiplayer experience to VR platforms and can’t wait for players to get involved.”

Snapshot VR

Having played competitive paintball the Giant Scam team has ensured the VR experience lives up to its real counterpart. So pre-made maps are based on real-world NXL layouts whilst a wealth of metrics and information is available for post-game analysis so teams can tweak their strategies. There will also be three locomotion options so that most players can comfortably and easily move in the hectic environments.

Snapshot VR will be available through Steam on 1st September 2020, supporting Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Valve Index and Windows Mixed Reality headsets. As further details are released, VRFocus will keep you updated.

Viveport’s Play at Home Sale Offers Massive Reduction on Infinity Subscription

As a lot of you reading this might be stuck at home at the moment looking for things to pass the time, delving into virtual reality (VR) can be a great escape. But if you’ve already rinsed your library of content and want to save a few pennies then Viveport Infinity’s latest offer could be what you’re looking for, offering hundreds of titles for a low monthly cost.

Viveport Infinity

Called the Play at Home sale, for a limited time the VR subscription service is dropping the price of its annual option. Instead of £8.99 GBP ($8.99 USD) per month – working out to £107.88 a year – the sale drops that down to £2.25 per month, totalling £27 ($27) for an entire year. Making Viveport Infinity even better value for money.

The sale runs until this Sunday, 19th April, available in the following countries: US, Canada, France, UK, Japan, Taiwan, Australia, Germany, Spain, Russia, and South Korea. As Viveport is hardware agnostic, it’ll support headsets like HTC Vive, Vive Pro, Vive Focus, Oculus Rift/Rift S, Valve Index, Samsung Odyssey, Samsung Odyssey Plus, Pico Neo, Pico G2 and more. It’ll even support Oculus Quest via Oculus Link.

Then from Monday onward for those that missed the deal, Viveport will offer smaller discounts across its content lineup.

Viveport Infinity

While it might not offer anywhere near the same amount of VR content as Steam, Viveport Infinity still has a diverse library of apps, videogames and videos on the platform, over 750 in fact. Access to all of these is unlimited via Viveport Infinity, offering titles like The Morrigan, Scraper: First Strike, OhShape, Creed: Rise to Glory, Tilt Brush, Witching Tower and BoxVRMonthly subscribers also get benefits like discount coupons, exclusive offers, and free games to keep in their library forever.

If you’re looking at buying into VR then HTC Vive’s range of headsets don’t seem to be having stock issues, with the standard Vive Cosmos available for £699 – and it comes with six month’s Viveport Infinity free. What you won’t get with the subscription service is the hot VR videogame of the moment, Half-Life: Alyx which is only on Steam. But you can get a free copy of Valve’s latest sci-fi epic when purchasing the Vive Cosmos Elite at £899.

Viveport Infinity Now Only $27 For The Entire Year In ‘Play At Home’ Sale

Starting today until Sunday, April 19th, all new and renewing subscribers can get 75% off an annual Viveport Infinity subscription. This brings the price down to just $2.25/month, or $27/year.

Previously I called Viveport Infinity an “insane value” in my Vive Cosmos review, which shipped with a year of Viveport Infinity for free before converting to $12.99/month. Now, it’s even more difficult to articulate just how fantastic of a deal the platform is for only $27/year. The only comparable deal in gaming I can think of is Xbox Game Pass.

For those unaware, Viveport Infinity is a paid subscription service in which you are able to download and play any game included in the subscription for no additional cost as long as you are a member. You’re not streaming the content like Netflix or Google Stadia, you actually download it.

Popular games included with a Viveport Infinity subscription include Creed: Rise to Glory, A Fisherman’s Tale, Arizona Sunshine, Tilt Brush, The Curious Tale of the Stolen Pets, Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs, Five Nights at Freddy’s VR, Witching Tower, Torn, and many others. In total, there are nearly 1,000 different apps available with Viveport Infinity.

Viveport works with most major PC VR headsets including all HTC Vive and Vive Cosmos headsets, Oculus Rift, Windows MR devices, and the Valve Index.

This massive price drop is limited until April 19th for a big ‘Play At Home Sale’ with Viveport. After that date it will still be discounted, just not as dramatically. The Play At Home Sale is only variable in the  U.S, Canada, France, UK, Japan, Taiwan, Australia, Germany, Spain, Russia, and South Korea.

Subscription Service Viveport Infinity Adds Oculus Quest Support

Yesterday, VRFocus reported on HTC Vive rolling out a new wireless service called Viveport Streaming, allowing Vive Focus Plus users to play Viveport Infinity videogames from their PC. Today, the platform is expanding its support to Oculus Quest thanks to Oculus Link.

Viveport Infinity Oculus Quest

With the launch of Oculus Link in November, owners of the standalone headset could play Oculus Rift titles via a cable, just so long as the cable was compatible and their PC met the required specifications.

Now Oculus Quest owners can access the unlimited streaming service Viveport Infinity in the same manner, accessing hundreds of PC VR titles for $12.99 USD/month or $8.99 with an annual plan. This opens the flood gates, even more, when it comes to accessing the latest VR content on Oculus Quest, as you’re no longer restricted to one store.

To setup Viveport Infinity for Oculus Quest do the following:

Setup Oculus Link Beta

  • Open the Oculus desktop app. *Make sure your Quest’s firmware is updated to version 11.0 or greater
  • Go to Settings > General > Unknown Sources to enable 3rd party sources
  • Navigate to Beta and join the public test channel
  • Go to Devices on the menu bar and add “Quest” as your headset
  • Connect your Quest to your PC via USB-C cable
  • Click “Enable” during the Oculus Link prompt in headset
  • Congrats! You are all set

Download Viveport

  • Log into a Viveport account (or create a new account if you’re joining us for the first time).
  • Install SteamVR (this occurs automatically, but you may be asked to sign into your Steam account).
  • Launch Viveport from the desktop shortcut
  • Sign-up and start your free 14-day trial to Infinity giving you to access hundreds of Oculus compatible desktop titles.
  • *Skip these steps if you already have an account*

Discover

  • On the Viveport homepage, select “Featured for Oculus Rift” to filter for Oculus compatible content.

Oculus Quest new image

HTC Vive has always maintained Viveport as an agnostic service designed to promote VR whilst supporting a range of headsets. With the addition of Oculus Quest, Viveport now supports HTC Vive, Valve Index, Oculus Rift and Windows Mixed Reality. VRFocus will continue its coverage of Viveport, reporting back with the latest updates.

Viveport Infinity Starts the Black Friday Discounting Early With 45% Saving

The annual Black Friday sales event is due to take place on 29th November 2019, and hopefully, there will be plenty of virtual reality (VR) discounts like last year. Viveport is getting in early with an offer for its unlimited subscription service Viveport Infinity, discounting one year’s membership.

Viveport Infinity

Starting today and running through until 1st December, Viveport Infinity is offering a 45 percent saving, dropping the annual cost down to £59.88 GBP ($60 USD). The platform is hardware agnostic so the subscription service supports HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Valve Index and Windows Mixed Reality headsets.

For those that haven’t tried Viveport Infinity yet, there’s still the 14-day free trial giving you unrestricted access to all the videogames in its library. New titles are added every month so you can stay up to date with the latest VR experiences. Recently SUPERHOT, Eleven Eleven, Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son, Five Nights at Freddy’s VR: Help Wanted, Arizona Sunshine, Gloomy Eyes – Vol. 1 & 2 and Sairento VR have all been added.

Viveport Infinity arrived earlier this year superseding the previous subscription models which offered a more restricted service. Windows Mixed Reality support arrived in May followed by Valve Index in August. Both times owners were offered limited-time deals to access the service but this Black Friday offer seems to be the best yet.

Viveport Infinity

HTC Vive has been through a process of heavy promotion these last couple of months. This was mainly due to the launch of Vive Cosmos in October which has had its fair share of problems. Last week then saw the rollout of the ‘Vive Certified Pre-Owned VR Systems’ for North American consumers. This deal nets you an original HTC Vive system that was previously owned and has been fully inspected by the company for $399.

Whilst the Viveport Infinity deal is certainly early it won’t be the last. The likelihood of Vive Cosmos or Oculus Quest getting discounts are slim, but PlayStation VR usually has some tasty pickings. As more Black Friday discounts are revealed and made available, VRFocus will keep you updated.

The Viveport Infinity Subscription Service Now Supports Valve Index

HTC Vive’s Viveport platform wants to be completely hardware agnostic, supporting as many virtual reality (VR) headsets as possible. Currently, only HTC Vive and Oculus Rift owners can use the store and its Viveport Infinity service but from tomorrow Valve Index will also be added to that roster.

Valve Index

Viveport announced back in May that it would be adding support for Valve Index as well as an offer of two free months of Viveport Infinity. That was then extended when it became clear a lot of customers wouldn’t get their Valve Index kits in time.

Now it appears the platform decided to hold off even longer to ensure as many early adopters of Valve Index could make use of the Viveport Infinity service. Today, the service has officially started supporting Valve Index headsets, and from 1st September until the end of the month new and existing Viveport Infinity members who own the headset can redeem two months. While it is unlimited, Viveport Infinity is a subscription service so after those first couple of months you can either pay $12.99 USD a month, or only $8.99 with a prepaid annual subscription.

“We’re giving VR enthusiasts access to much more top-rated VR games and apps than ever before for a low monthly price,” said Rikard Steiber, President of Viveport in a statement. “In just one year, we’ve made great strides in our mission to become a hardware-agnostic platform, opening up our service to Vive, Oculus Rift, Windows Mixed Reality and now Valve Index devices.”

Viveport Infinity

New titles are regularly added to the subscription service including Ninja Legends, A Fisherman’s Tale, Apex Construct, Fujii, Gun Club VR, Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs and I Expect You To Die.

Valve Index launched on 28th June 2019, with the pre-order launch in May selling out within minutes. This lead the Valve Index landing page to put up longer and longer shipping times as demand outstripped supply. Now you should find that most items in the kit are delivered fairly quickly rather than waiting a couple of months.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of Viveport, reporting back with any further VR headset additions.
