Survios teamed up with Taito to launch Puzzle Bobble VR: Vacation Odyssey for Oculus Quest, but for the PlayStation launch there’s been a slight name change to Puzzle Bobble 3D: Vacation Odyssey. Shadowgate VR: The Mines of Mythrok Coming to Oculus Quest in October

Shadowgate VR

As if you needed another excuse to go on a virtual reality (VR) adventure, indie team Zojoi and Azure Drop Studios have announced Shadowgate VR: The Mines of Mythrok. A fantasy epic, the videogame will be an exclusive Oculus Quest title landing in October.

Shadowgate VR

Shadowgate isn’t a new IP, in fact, it has been running since 1987 when Dave Marsh and Karl Roelofs released the first iteration for the Apple Macintosh. Since then, Zojoi has ported the videogame to 15 platforms including the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), and now it’s the turn of Oculus Quest.

But Shadowgate VR: The Mines of Mythrok won’t be a port of the long-running franchise. Instead, the Oculus Quest exclusive will be the start of a brand-new adventure set within the Shadowgate universe, with the team planning a whole series beginning with October’s instalment.

Development on this VR edition began a couple of years ago and promises that classic fantasy action-adventure experience. You’ll be able to fight giant monsters – yes, that includes massive spiders! – wielding elemental magic, solve devious puzzles and unlock ancient secrets as you delve ever deeper into the mountain dungeons.

Shadowgate VR

These will be cavernous locations filled with chambers of enemies and trap-laden corridors. They can be disabled if you’re smart enough, with plenty of divine magical symbols to uncover. Accompanied by your raven Odin, you’ll be are with a sorcerer’s wand to defend yourself, pulling up shields to block incoming projectiles whilst unleashing some fire spells of your own.

Shadowgate VR: The Mines of Mythrok is currently slated to arrive on 7th October 2021 for Oculus Quest. The first teaser trailer can be seen below and for further updates keep reading VRFocus.

Shadowgate VR Brings Fantasy Action To Oculus Quest In October

The long-lived Shadowgate series is making the jump to Oculus Quest with Shadowgate VR.

The app’s set to launch on the Quest Store on October 7th. The name Shadowgate may ring a bell to you. It’s a fantasy series that first debuted on Macintosh PCs all the way back in 1987. The series has seen a few iterations since then, including a recent entry on modern consoles. With Shadowgate VR, though, the series is becoming fully interactive for the first time. Check out the trailer below.

Shadowgate VR: The Mines of Mythrok is planned to be the first in a series of VR titles set in the universe. Developed by series creator Zojoi and Azure Drop Studios the game has players exploring the caverns within mountains, casting spells using a wand to take on ghoulish enemies. Some sections of the game will put you in Dwarven minecarts and there are also puzzles to solve and traps to avoid.
