Sairento VR’s Physical Edition Coming to North American Shelves in August

Two weeks ago Mixed Realms and Perp Games released Sairento VR as a physical videogame for those European gamers that like an actual disk to go in their PlayStation VR collection. A North American edition was always on the cards, and now a release date has been confirmed.

SairentoVR

Sairento VR for PlayStation VR has been available to NA players for just over a week via PlayStation Store, but for those interested in picking one up from retail shelves you’ll need to wait another four weeks, with the release taking place on Tuesday, 13th August.

Included on the disk will be all the base game weapons and the “Sairento VR – Weapons Pack” DLC from the PC version. These are the Kusarigama which acts like a kama in close quarters combat but can be extended into a sickle and chain and used as a flailing weapon. The Kigiri claw weapon, with the secondary capability of ejecting the claw blades as deadly projectiles. And lastly the Slugger, a unique SMG that is plasma-based and uses a heat management system instead of physical rounds for ammo.

Other than that everything else is the same. So you’ll be able to perform somersaults, multiple jumps, side flips, wall runs, and power slides as you hack, slash, duck, and weave through hordes of enemies. A single-player campaign mode puts you into the ranks of the Silent Ones, a covert organization which practices the code and martial arts of the ancient samurais and ninjas.

VRFocus reviewed Sairento VR in 2018 on PC, giving it four stars, saying: “Sairento VR is one of the best free-flowing combat titles available for VR headsets, showcasing how far development of VR locomotion has come.”

Last month the studio also released Sairento Untethered for Oculus Quest, a stripped-down version which has five maps, simply due to the processing power of the standalone headset. But Mixed Realms is working on several updates to improve that edition.

Sairento VR is coming to North American retail for PlayStation VR on 13th August retailing for $39.99 USD. Pre-orders are available now through AmazonBest Buy and GameStop. For further updates from Mixed Realms, keep reading VRFocus.

Sairento Untethered Dev Working on Upgrades Including Possible Multiplayer Co-op

At the end of June, developer Mixed Realms released an Oculus Quest version of Sairento VRcalled Sairento UntetheredA cut back version of the PC and PlayStation VR original, Sairento Untethered still managed to retain the same gameplay characteristics but with less content. Now, the team has revealed plans to update the experience, adding visual upgrades as well as seeing if multiplayer co-op can be implemented.

Sairento Untethered

Over on the Oculus Quest sub-Reddit, Mixed Realms detailed what updates are being worked on and those that are planned. Currently, it looks as though the maps are going to get visual improvements, while issues reported by players such as unnatural weapon angles and game pausing are going to be addressed in a patch which could be appearing in a couple of weeks.

As for other improvements the studio plans to patch in over the next few months, these include:

  • “Addition of height calibration for better sliding experience”
  • “Further optimization of the gameplay to provide a better challenge”
  • “New game mode(s)”
  • “Other cool stuff and features that are possible to accomplish with the Quest”

Then there are the features Mixed Realms is looking into but isn’t making any promises on, namely multiplayer co-op and more maps. It seems as though the former is keenly sought by players, with the studio saying: “Many of you have been asking if we can incorporate Multiplayer Coop. We are not quite sure if we would be able to do it yet, so no promises here. But we are certainly trying to figure it out. You will be sure to hear it the moment we have an answer.”

When it comes to more maps, the original Sairento VR had 13, while Sairento Untethered has five maps, simply due to the processing power of Oculus Quest. It looks like more could be squeezed into the experience as the team state: “Lastly, we can confirm that after some testing, we are confident that we will be able to add more maps to the game.”

So Sairento Untethered fans will be seeing regular improvements rolling out this summer. As patches are released, VRFocus will keep you updated.

‘Sairento VR’ Launches on PSVR in Europe, Arriving in North America Next Week

Singapore-based studio Mixed Realms today released their high-flying ninja combat game Sairento VR (2018) in Europe on PSVR; the North American release is slated to arrive next week.

Sairento VR was first released on Steam Early Access for PC VR back in late 2016, and while it launched out of EA more than a year ago, we’ve been waiting to see just when it would come to PSVR.

Customers in Europe can either download (PS Store link) for £35/€40 or pick up a physical copy at retail stores starting today. North American customers will have to wait until July 9th to download, and August 13th for the hard copy.

The game is also currently available on Steam (Vive, Rift, Index), Oculus Store (Rift), Viveport (Vive, Rift, Windows VR).

Sairento VR is a mission-driven, first-person combat game that’s set in near-future Japan. As a member of ‘the Silent Ones’, you use your forbidden knowledge of martial arts to fight across the game’s single-player campaign mode, letting you hone your slow-motion, high-flying ninja moves as you shoot pistols and physically slice your katanas at the game’s various enemies.

Outside of the campaign mode, the PSVR version is said to include extra missions as well as two-player co-op.

Sairento Untethered Coming to Oculus Quest This Week

First-person combat experience Sairento VR is one of the more intense virtual reality (VR) experiences for PC VR, mixing fast gun and melee combat with super-human manoeuvring capabilities. Mixed Realms has now confirmed that gameplay will be coming to Oculus Quest in Sairento Untethered.

The reason for the slight name change is quite simple, it’s not exactly the same videogame as the previous version. Due to the Oculus Quest’s capabilities, the studio isn’t porting Sairento VR to the standalone headset, instead, providing a cut back version with new content.

Mixed Realms want to keep the same gameplay mechanics as the original, allowing players to wield a variety of guns alongside katanas, throwing knives and shuriken, whilst being able to perform massive leaps and crazy wall runs. But to do this on Oculus Quest meant the amount of content had to be reduced. So there are five brand new locations to fight through instead of Sairento VR’s 13 locations.

As with most Oculus Rift ports to Quest such as Apex Construct, Sairento Untethered has also taken a graphical hit to maintain the gameplay. “Graphics are understandably not as good as compared to the PCVR version due to the Quest’s technical limitations but we focused on maintaining the awesome gameplay Sairento is known for,” states the team on Reddit.

Sairento Untethered will also be a single-player only experience, losing both the co-op modes and multiplayer PvP and PvE modes. Because of this, the Oculus Quest version will be cheaper than its PC cousin, although Mixed Realms has yet to confirm what that cost will be.

VRFocus enjoyed the original Sairento VR, giving it four stars, saying: “Sairento VR is one of the best free-flowing combat titles available for VR headsets, showcasing how far development of VR locomotion has come.” So as long as the gameplay is still in place as the developer states, then Sairento Untethered maybe worth a look.

For those that happen to own a PlayStation VR, don’t forget the Sairento VR will be getting a physical launch thanks to Perp Games on 5th July. Sairento Untethered arrives for Oculus Quest on Thursday, 27th June. For further updates keep reading VRFocus.

Sairento VR Gets Physical With PlayStation VR in July

It was in December 2018 when Mixed Realms and Perp Games announced plans to bring ninja action title Sairento VR to PlayStation VR, initially in Q1 2019. After several months of silence, the companies have now confirmed a release date for a physical retail launch, set to take place in July.

SairentoVR

It will, in fact, be a dual launch both in retail stores as well as online across European territories. A North American release date has yet to be confirmed.

“We are thrilled to bring our game through Perp Games to the PSVR fans who have been incredibly excited but patient for its release. Our game is to let them experience what it is like to move and fight like a cyber ninja!,” said Aldric Chang, CEO of Mixed Realms in a statement.

Often described as a cyber ninja simulator, Sairento VR is a first-person combat experience set in a near-future Japan. You play a member of the Silent Ones, a secret organisation of citizens trained in the martial arts of ancient samurais and ninjas. In the story campaign, a conspiracy will force you to fight against those you once called allies.

“The wait is over and we are so proud to bring the physical release of Sairento VR to PSVR fans all over the world” adds Rob Edwards, MD of Perp Games. “This is a truly great game and Mixed Realms is a very talented team.”

SairentoVR

Sairento VR mixes both close combat fighting with long-range shooting mechanics, whilst at the same time allowing you to perform crazy manoeuvres to evade enemies. Using an arsenal of weapons includes katanas, guns, arrows, kunais and throwing glaives which can be upgraded and evolved throughout the videogame, you can effortlessly kill opponents whilst perform somersaults, triple jumps, side flips, wall runs, and power slides.

VRFocus reviewed Sairento VR in 2018 on PC, giving it four stars, saying: “Sairento VR is one of the best free-flowing combat titles available for VR headsets, showcasing how far development of VR locomotion has come.”

Perp Games and Mixed Realms will release Sairento VR on 5th July. When details of the North American release are available, VRFocus will let you know.

Become a Badass Ninja When Sairento VR Hits PlayStation VR in Q1 2019

For those that have the stomach for all the jumping, wall running and mid-air acrobatics, Mixed Realms’ Sairento VR is one of the more interesting first-person shooters (FPS) available for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. Having garnered a strong fan base since its Early Access debut back in 2016, the studio has just announced it’ll be expanding support to PlayStation VR in Q1 2019.

Mixed Realms has teamed up with Perp Games to make the release possible, with the latter’s expertise in bringing VR videogames to physical retailers being used to provide PlayStation VR owners with the choice of a digital download or on disk.

On the announcement Rob Edwards, MD of Perp Games said in a statement, “As one of the best-selling PC based VR games ever released, PSVR fans are in for a real treat.  It is a great honour to release the physical version of Sairento and to work with such a talented group of developers as Mixed Realms.”

Sairento VR takes the action up a notch by combining both ranged gunplay and close-quarters melee combat, with somersaults, multiple jumps, side flips, wall runs, and power slides, allowing players to hack, slash, duck, and weave through hordes of enemies.

At their disposal are an arsenal of weapons includes katanas, guns, bows, kunais and throwing glaives which can be enhanced with items called relics. Additionally, players also possess the ability to slow time down, enabling them to gracefully switch from one artistic execution to another.

“We are very pleased to have found a reliable partner in Perp Games to bring our game to PSVR gamers in the US, Europe and the Middle East,” said Aldric Chang, CEO of Mixed Realms. “We are confident that with their strong repertoire, fans of Sairento will soon be able to get their hands on a physical copy in retail stores in these countries.”

Somersaults and Sideflips Are Coming to Action FPS Sairento VR

After an Early Access release in 2016 followed by a full launch in January, Mixed Realms’ ninja-based action title Sairento VR has proved to be a tidy little success, receiving a positive response from press and gamers alike. But the team hasn’t stopped there, continually releasing improvements. It has now laid out plans for the next major update.

Sairento VR new screenshot 2

Sairento VR is very much an intense experience, partially due to its mixture of sword and gun battles, but mainly thanks to the movement system where you can bound about and leap off walls at leisure. The studio is taking this aspect one step further in its v1.5 update by allowing players to perform somersaults and sideflips. So you soon be able to perform directional flips in the air and sideflip off a wall run.

The aim is to give players even more dexterity when battling opponents, dodging incoming fire to get in close for some brutal sword attacks. The flip can be timed at any portion of the upward jump enabling even greater heights to be reached. Additionally, a gliding function will also be included to soar across the battlefield or to aid a miss-timed jump.

A new map will also be introduced called The Hangar. The multilevel arena will have various areas of interest to engage enemies in, while blast doors and cargo pods grant some cover in the central area. An assortment of bridges and scaffolding connect the upper areas and can be used to your advantage if you prefer a more stealthy approach.

A graphics overhaul of the Street and Alley levels help to make the experience even more visually striking.

‘Sairento VR’ Update Brings Remastered Graphics & Smoother Gameplay, New Levels Incoming

Sairento VR (2018), the cyber-ninja VR combat game, just received an update that includes remastered graphics and better performance thanks to a game engine upgrade.

Sairento VR launched out of Early Access for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift in February 2018. The game includes a single-player campaign mode that lets you hone your slow-motion, high-flying ninja moves as you shoot pistols and physically slice your katanas at the game’s ‘cyber ninja’ enemies; the game also includes a single-player arcade mode, multiplayer co-op, and PvP mode.

Thanks to a recent update, the following levels have been visually remastered: Shrine, Lab, Warehouse, Cemetary, Hall, Corporation, Train, Arena, and Observatory. The developers, Mixed Realms, are still working on three remaining levels including Street, Alley and District, and will release patches for these in a future update.

An upgrade to the game’s Unity game engine, Mixed Realms says in a Steam news post, improves textures and lighting, offers better performance and smoother gameplay, and fixes a number of bugs. You can find the full change log in the link posted above.

Mixed Realms also maintains that Sairento VR is slated to receive a new level at the end of September, and another one at the end of October.

Mixed Realms is bringing its action-packed cyber ninja simulator Sairento VR (2018) to Rift users for free this weekend, which includes a campaign mode and online multiplayer for up to four other players in PvP and PvE modes.

Now out of early access, Sairento VR was recently revealed to be in the top 24 best-selling VR games on Steam of 2018 (so far). There’s reason: high-flying ninja power fantasies galore.

With the ability to fly high into the air, executing quadruple jumps, wall runs, power slides, and back flips, you rip through enemies with katanas, guns, bows, throwing glaives, shurikens, and kunais—everything the aspiring ninja may need with its nearly 20 weapons at your disposal.

Oculus has been holding free weekends for select multiplayer games for some time now, and it’s a great way to pack the servers with fresh players so you can see a multiplayer game at its best. ‘Sairento Reborn’ Aims to Springboard off ‘Sairento’ Success, Support VR & PC

Indie VR developer Mixed Realms, creators of badass VR ninja simulator, Sairento, announced this week plans for their next chapter, coming in the form of Sairento Reborn. Described as “bigger and better,” Sairento Reborn hopes to open up the title, allowing cooperative hack & slash fun for both VR and PC players.

Speaking this week at the HTC’s Vive X demo day in San Francisco, Singapore-based indie studio Mixed Realms said that their first title, Sairento, has turned a significant profit, to the tune of a claimed “3,000% ROI” on an initial development fund of $30,000 (which would work out to $900,000); the developers tell us they’ve sold about 40,000 units so far.

Sairento, which plays like a mashup between Raw Data (2017) and Superhot VR (2017), offers players the chance to become an agile super-ninja, wielding swords, guns, bows, and more. The game has been released across all major VR platforms (Steam, Oculus, and Viveport), and holds respectable ratings across the board. The title began its life in Early Access on Steam in late 2016 and claimed its full launch in February, 2018.

Aiming to springboard off of their initial success, developer Mixed Realms said during the Vive X event that they’re planning to raise $3 million for the production of the next chapter, Sairento Reborn. From the description offered by the developers, the new title sounds more like a reboot, with a much larger scope than the original, and one major goal being to open the door to PC players as well as VR players, allowing both to play with and against each other.

The plan, the developers say, is to offer the same kind of first-person action as the original, for VR players, while PC players will play the game in third person. The studio plans to balance each side fairly, but uniquely. Mixed Realms says they plan to sell Sairento Reborn at a lower price than the original, but will monetize further with subscription and microtransaction options—they pointed to Overwatch (2016) as a game successfully monetizing with this model.

As one reason why they want to open the game to PC players, Mixed Realms pointed toward VRChat’s viral outbreak—no doubt owed to its accessibility by both VR and PC players—which has secured the game a spot among Steam’s top 100 games by concurrent player count.

During the event Mixed Realms also affirmed plans plan to bring the original Sairento to PSVR, and expect it to hit the platform in 2018.

Update (3/30/18): An earlier version of this article mistakenly transposed some digits and stated that Sairento had earned $9,000,000 in revenue instead of $900,000; this has been fixed accordingly.
