Competition: Don’t Fear The Reaper, It Has Steam Codes

Congratulations everyone, you have successfully made it through yet another Gamescom, and after a week of bringing you a lot of virtual reality (VR) news we can finally get things back to relative normal. We say ‘relative’ because things change so fast all the time normal is scarcely normal for long. Those of you who went to Gamescom, I hope you had a good time. Those of you who did not, if you’re getting a touch of jealous over any swag given away at the event we’ve at least got a competition this week that you can enter.

VRFocus have teamed up with developer Odd Raven Studios to give you all the opportunity to bag one of five codes for their 2-player co-op title Carly and the Reaperman – Escape from the Underworld, playable on the HTC Vive, Windows Mixed Reality and Oculus Rift headsets.

Carly and the Reaperman – Escape from the Underworld is a “unique couch co-op experience in (and outside) VR”, according to the developer. “Master platforming to avoid dangers, solve puzzles and build your way through the Underworld in this cooperative 2-player game. Player one play as Carly on the computer screen in a classic platforming game while player two helps out as the Reaperman in VR. Together you must find ways to escape the Underworld.”

Standard prize draw entry rules apply: Follow us (or already be following us) on Twitter and YouTube for an entry. Competition: Move Fast To Enter This Ludicrous Speed Prize Draw

The end of the week is here once again, and that of course means (now that E3 is out of the way for another year) that it’s competition time here on VRFocus. This time you’ll be wanting to probably stretch your muscles in advance because the virtual reality (VR) videogame we’re offering codes for is a pretty hectic one.

“Ludicrous Speed is an arcade-style infinite runner that employs a dynamic physical movement system along with parallel trackpad or thumbstick-based controls, allowing you to discover your own natural style of moving and propel yourself through its infinitely-generated track – collecting rings, dodging hazards, and setting new records.”

Well, it’s certainly been a busy week so far with this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). The team have been all kinds of busy both in the UK and the US covering everything that’s been going on. However, just because we’ve got E3 on the go it doesn’t mean that we can’t have a competition this week. And if it doesn’t mean we can’t have a competition, heck, let’s have a four part one!

Along Together key artThroughout this week we’ll be giving people the opportunity to win copies of Los Angeles based developer Turbo Button’s puzzle-platform title Along Together. In Along Together, you are a kid’s imaginary friend: their invisible companion when there’s no one else around and their guardian when things get dangerous. Harness the power of imagination to lift trees, move boulders, power incredible machines, and create new paths where there are none to follow. Find Rishu and bring him home!

Competition: Own The World, And (Most) Everything In It With AstroReality

Welcome to the second competition of the week here on VRFocus. Yes, you read that right. If you missed it on your feeds earlier in the week we’re actually having two competitions this week. The first went up on Tuesday and you’ve still got time to enter it if you want to be in with the chance of getting a free code for Fruit For The Village –  a videogame where you need to balance resources as you try to guide survivors through a future torn about by a combination of war and global warming.  Yes, it seems as if humanity hasn’t taken very good care of the world in that future.

AstroReality - EARTHI wonder how you would cope if you were tasked with looking after the whole world.
Let’s find out!

In a rather unusual turn of events, VRFocus are offering you the chance to own the Earth itself in today’s competition. Okay, maybe not the real one. After all, have you read the news lately? You don’t need all that bother clearly. Instead we’ve teamed up with AstroReality to give you the chance to take home EARTH, and that’s EARTH with some heavy emphasis on the AR. If you like space, geography. geology or science in general, you’re going to love this. It’s a a 3D-printed, hand-painted globe of our world. That, through augmented reality (AR) and and an artificial intelligence-driven app takes you through time to explore the planet’s geological changes, plant and wildlife, track the changes to the environment the world’s weather patterns and more.

AstroReality already do a mini set of the entire solar system on their website, plus a model of the moon, cunningly called LUNAR They even do notepads which have the same effects.  For the big version of the EARTH the team have turned to Kickstarter to fund its creation. Now the winner would have received the EARTH regardless of this, however at the time of writing with well 40 days still to go on the campaign AstroReality’s Kickstarter for EARTH is funded nearly twice over!

AstroReality - EARTHMuch like the Earth, we only have one EARTH to give away in a prize draw. For those unfamiliar with competitions on VRFocusentry is made (predominantly) via interaction with our social media accounts. So, if you, say, visited our Facebook page then you’ll get an entry – and if you happened to follow us on there when you got there that’d be pretty swell of you. For this draw we’ll be giving you two entries if you also check out the AstroReality Kickstarter campaign yourself. So, plenty of chances to enter. All you need to do is interact with the Gleam app below.

The competition will be open a week. Beginning today and ending at midnight UK time on June 1st, 2018. The draw will be made shortly after this

Competition: Try Out Notch’s Content Creation Tool For Yourself, We’ve FIFTY Codes To Give Away

Congratulations one and all, you’ve successfully managed to navigate the working weekand made it through to another Friday. As you know, here on VRFocus we usually have some form of competition at this time every week, usually we’re giving away codes for a videogame of some sort – but that’s not always the case. We gave away a gaming chair not that long ago, after all and today we’re once again doing something just a little bit different.

Throughout the week you might have noticed interviews and stories related to Notch. (No, not the Minecraft creator.) Notch is a visualisation toolset, that allows users to create virtual reality (VR) experiences without needing to write a single line of code. Created out of a desire to simplify a user’s workflow and reduce frustrating render times. As a result it works in real-time, so changes can be instantly seen and is particularly popular for artists and motion graphics creators.

Notch Logo“Notch allows us to create the true VR environments and experiences that as artists we have always envisioned. Nothing can beat real time.” Explains Tupac Martir, Creative Director of Satore Studio. A sentiment shared by ALL OF IT NOW Producer Berto Mora. (Learn more about how Notch can be used for VR.)

“The VR workflow that Notch has created allows me to focus more on the creative and less on the technicality of VR – unlike traditional VR tools.” You can find out all about it in our discussions with Founder Matt Swoboda and Head of Marketing Mark Jennings.

As part of a special giveaway we’ve teamed up with Notch to offer VRFocus readers and VR creatives the opportunity to utilise the Notch software themselves. The team have specially created FIFTY codes for their store which will entitle users to order the non-subscription related Learning Edition for free. This pack, usually £99 (GBP), comprises a licence for the Notch Builder Personal Learning Edition, Codemeter USB Dongle and Notch Builder keyring. The code will also cover postage and packaging for the dongle which usually amounts to £15.

The giveaway will go pretty much as usual on VRFocus, with entry via interaction with social media accounts and the Notch website via the Gleam app below. The competition will be open a little longer than usual. Instead ending at the ending at midnight on Monday May 28th. After which point 50 names will be drawn and those people will be contacted privately with details – though being somewhat bulkier in terms of number combined with the onset of events season it may take a little longer than normal.

You can find the app here.

Competition: Another Opportunity To Visit Surreal Puzzle Title GNOSIS

In the year 2325, humanity is long gone, and all that remains of its history is the mysterious GNOSIS Archive. This is the premise behind the audiovisual virtual reality (VR) experience that comprises GNOSISDeveloper FATHOMABLE Ltd have created a title that defies the traditional genre definitions, straddling the mechanics of puzzler, rhythm game and exploration.

GNOSISThe player takes the role of a seeker of knowledge in the future where the world has changed beyond all recognition. The task is to explore the vast network of knowledge that unfolds around you, using a combination of artistic performance and retro-style puzzle gameplay as you try to unravel the secrets and learn exactly what the GNOSIS Archive seems so keen to hide.

Last week five lucky winners were lucky enough to get codes to this unusual VR experience, and developers FATHOMABLE Ltd have been kind enough to provide another five Oculus Store codes for VRFocus to give away, and all you need to do to be in with a chance of winning your own copy of GNOSIS is to use the Gleam widget below.

As is customary when using Gleam, you get one entry for each interaction with some form of VRFocus social media. You can snag one entry for following us on Twitter, one for subscribing to your YouTube channel and yet another for visiting our Facebook page, you can even drop us a ‘like’ while you are there.

The competition will be open for a week, and will begin today, Friday 11th May, and will end 18th May, at midnight, UK time. Winners will be drawn shortly thereafter and contacted privately after that date.

Competition: Another Chance To Unravel The Mystery Of GNOSIS

Competition: Discover Humanity’s Fate In Oculus Rift Title GNOSIS

Friday is here once again, and that means it’s time once again for a new giveaway competition here on VRFocus.  It is, of course, always a mystery as to what exactly we’re going to reveal but, on this occasion, even we struggle to fully explain GNOSIS. To quote Peter from earlier this month it is the equivalent of “a piece of content that defies explanation, a mashup of several ideas and genres into one cohesive whole”.

At its heart GNOSIS (pronounced ‘no-sis’), or to give its full name GNOSIS: An AudioVisual Ritual is part-puzzle videogame, part-musical experience.  You play the role of a knowledge seeker in 2325, the world is now a very different place to the one we now today. You are on a pilgrimage of sorts, seeking clues about the history and purpose of Humanity. A term the guardians of Sophia’s Temple, the ‘GNOSIS Archive’, reveal they have not heard in a very, very long time. Unfortunately, the archive recordings have been damaged by a nefarious source – but the data can be recovered. It’s up to you to do so.

We’ve teamed up with developer FATHOMABLE Ltd to give you the chance to win a code for the title on the Oculus Store.  We’ve got five codes to give away, all you need to do to enter is use the Gleam widget below and interact with our social media accounts in some way. You’ll receive a draw entry for being a follower of us on Twitter, one (or another one if you do this as well) for being a subscriber of our channel on YouTube.  You can gain a third entry if you visit our Facebook page – and it’d be pretty neat if you liked it while you were there – and the same goes for our Instagram account too.

The competition is open for approximately a week. It starts today, April 27th, 2018, and will end at midnight UK time, the beginning of May 4th. Winners will be drawn and contacted shortly after that period – and if you’ve entered a contest recently we sent codes to a whole bunch of winners the other day. So if you entered a competition recently take a look in your inbox!
