Skydance Interactive’s The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners has been one of the most successful virtual reality (VR) releases of 2020, receiving praise from both PC VR and PlayStation VR players alike. Today, the studio has announced its first major content addition, The Meatgrinder Update, due for release next month.
The upcoming update will add a new gameplay mode called ‘The Trial’, which is essentially a horde mode. That means rather than facing walkers in the main campaign you can dispense with the story and enjoy the visceral combat instead.
To help deal with all those waves of walkers all the weapons from the main experience will be unlocked. Like most horde modes all you have to do is survive for as long as possible, racking up as many points as possible by killing the zombies as quickly and in as many numbers as you can.
For those who like a challenge, the update will include new difficulty modes for the campaign, making it more casual or deadly as required. Plus, there’s a new weapon skin for the katana, helping remove those heads in style.
Created in collaboration with Skybound Entertainment, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners offers fans of the franchise a chance to enjoy an original storyline set in New Orleans where the danger comes from the living as well as the undead. Players have to scavenge buildings for food and crafting materials, navigate walker filled streets and uncover what secrets the locals seem to be hiding.
When reviewing The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners VRFocus said: “From the very beginning, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners offers a satisfying zombie experience that’s hard to match. Titles like Arizona Sunshine easily fill that need for straight-up arcade action, for when you want a living dead apocalypse with a bit more depth then The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners is your new go-to videogame.”
The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners ‘The Meatgrinder Update’ will be arriving in July for all supported headsets; PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Valve Index and Windows Mixed Reality. For further updates on the survival experience from Skydance Interactive, keep reading VRFocus.
