Normally zombie themed videogames feature lots of guns, headshots and plenty of gore. Taking a different, more comical approach to dispatching hordes of the undead is Throw Anything, the first virtual reality (VR) experience from Visual Light.
Taking a similar ‘hands-on’ approach to gameplay like Job Simulator, Throw Anything puts you in a bedroom in a high rise apartment building. For here you must defend yourself as zombies clumsily attempt to climb up by using anything that comes to hand.
Featuring a fully destructable environment, you can smash the furniture and use whatever parts you end up with as both offensive and defensive weapons. If worst comes to worst, it’s time to dispense with the pleasantries – and grab/toss the nearest NPC into harm’s way.
With five stages to play through, not only do you have to contend with normal zombies there are also four mid level bosses and five major bosses to contend with.
Visual Light plans on being in Early Access for around four months. In that time the studio plans on adding new characters, smarter zombies, enhanced effects, new objects for each stage as well as varied spawn patterns.
The studio said in a statement: “We’ve been working on Throw Anything for the last few months and we feel it is ready to be shown to the world. However, we are still working to provide better services with new content. Thanks to early access, we will be releasing frequent updates tailored to the feedback received from the community. All the feedback will be reflected in each stage. Throw Anything needs your help to create an amazing new experience for players worldwide!”
Throw Anything will be available on Steam Early Access for HTC Vive this Wednesday, 28th February for $16.99 USD. PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift and Windows Mixed Reality releases are due later this year. For further updates on Throw Anything, keep reading VRFocus.
