Explore the Cosmos When OVERVIEW Launches Next Month

The universe is vast and wondrous, filled with planets, galaxies, stars, black holes and much more, some of which mankind understands and a lot we don’t. There are a number of virtual reality (VR) apps that let you explore and learn about our solar system and the cosmos in general. Due for launch next month via Steam is a cinematic educational experience from Orbital Views called OVERVIEW

Using scientific data from NASA and the European Space Agency, OVERVIEW aims to be the most accurate model of the entire universe made available to the public.

The experience is split into two modes; ‘Story’, is a 30-minute educational narrative of our universe written and directed by film director Paul Mezier. Mezier narrates the content in a poetic fashion while staying 100 percent education-worthy. The other mode is ‘Explore’, adding a more interactive element to the content. This is where viewers are able to fly freely into space. Because the universe is quite large, Orbital Views allows users to take it step-by-step. In each chapter users learn a new control: either zoom, timescale or movement. The studio has more chapters planned in future updates, all of which will be free.

The release of OVERVIEW will happen in a couple of stages. The first launch will take place on 1st March, 2018 via Steam for HTC Vive and Windows Mixed Reality headsets with the title priced at $24.99 USD/ €22.99 EUR/ £19.99 GBP. On 2nd April OVERVIEW will hit Oculus Store for Oculus Rift with a Gear VR version scheduled to arrive on 1st June, 2018.
