The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) tends to be the main event in the calendar year for videogame announcements. The 2017 show was no different with Multiverse Entertainment using E3 to showcase its first virtual reality (VR) title, a big sci-fi role-playing game (RPG) called Seeking Dawn. Since then new details have slowly emerged, but nothing concrete about when the videogame is likely to launch. The studio has now taken one step further towards that goal by announcing Closed Beta and pre-order applications will be rolled out this month.
Those of you who’ve been eagerly awaiting the launch of Seeking Dawn will be able to apply for the closed beta on 30th January 2018. The website does note several details and terms, including: “10% of all applicants will be chosen at random to participate in phase 1 of closed beta testing” and “Once chosen, in order to receive your closed beta key, you must sign our Non-disclosure agreement (NDA).” As with most closed betas there’s no guarantee you’ll get chosen plus you’ll have to keep quiet about what you’ve played.
Also, there are no details about which platforms the beta will support. Multiverse Entertainment has confirmed both HTC Vive and Oculus Rift would see the first versions – VRFocus previewed the title on HTC Vive at E3 2017 – with PlayStation VR and Windows Mixed Reality headsets also seeing support.
Seeking Dawn is an expansive sci-fi adventure for VR players set on a hostile alien world full of dangerous creatures and hidden secrets. Whilst being a first-person shooter (FPS) first and foremost, the videogame includes a survival element where resources are limited so players must venture out to scavenge for supplies, craft weapons and equipment for protection. The deep crafting system will let you tinker with 50+ tools for combat and survival.
Featuring a campaign designed for both single-player and co-op multiplayer gaming, Seeking Dawn will also include PvP gameplay for up to 20 players. Full movement options will also featuring so players will be able to climb, swim and run through the hostile environment.
As further details are released, VRFocus will keep you updated on Multiverse Entertainment’s Seeking Dawn.
