HTC is Giving Away ‘Fallout 4 VR’ for Free to New Viveport Subscribers

Starting today, new Viveport Subscription members can count on a free copy of Fallout 4 VR (2017) when you sign up for a three, six, or twelve month prepaid subscription.

Regularly priced at $60, HTC is throwing new Viveport Subscription signups a free Fallout 4 VR Steam code when you get any prepaid plan. The offer ends November 14th, and the company says a code will be delivered via email by November 18th, 2018.

All subscribers are also getting an additional $10 Viveport wallet credit on November 20th  just because.

At its most affordable, the deal gets you Fallout 4 VR for only $20, which also includes temporary access to five free titles per month. Here’s the breakdown of subscription prices:

Whatever your stance on Viveport, it boasts 500+ games and apps (some of them are actually good), and includes a 2× discount on Weekend Deals, and access to Exclusive deals throughout the year. Once an HTC Vive-only storefront, the company has recently allowed developers to include native support for Oculus Rift as well, meaning this may actually be a deal worth pursuing.

In the meantime, check out our review of Fallout 4 VR. Fair warning: it’s improved a good deal since it initial release last December, although you’l probably still want a beefy graphics card to run.

Viveport Offers 90% off in Massive Halloween Sale

It’s the season of horror as Halloween rolls around once again, with the kids dressing up to go trick or treating, while the adults prepare for a fight night movie fest. Of course VRFocus readers out there will know for a proper screamingly good time all you need is a virtual reality (VR) headset and some decent content. Luckily, Viveport is running a limited time promotion for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift owners where they can save up to 90 percent on content.

Viveport currently lists a wide variety of scary, horror titles some more gruesome than others. The online store has handily categorised all the videogames and apps into several sections, including Zombie Apocalypse; Aliens, AI and Robots; Try to Survive and several more.

These categories feature some very well known titles as well as a few obscure ones worth taking a look at. How about Vertigo Games’ zombie shooter Arizona Sunshine which is down by 35 percent. Or then there’s ZR: Zombie Riot which has 80 percent off.

After a videogame with a bit more life? There’s always Sairento VR which is retailing for £16.98 GBP rather than £22.64. Bringing the heat with some steam punk action SteamHammerVR – The Rogue Apprentice which is currently on sale for £5.66 instead of £11.32.

In fact there’s loads on offer, those worth taking a look at include: AFFECTED: The Manor, Don’t Knock Twice, Gates of Nowhere, Island 359, Torn, Sneaky Bears, A Chair in a Room, The Villa: Allison’s Diary, plus don’t forget about the free ones.

That’s not all, if you happen to be a Viveport Subscriber – even on a free trial – you’ll be able to grab a copy of Nevrosa: Escape. The offer runs from 25th – 28th October and supplies are limited so first come first served. Additionally, if you still have that subscription on 20th November then you’ll find $10 USD dropped into your Viveport Wallet via email. For any further offers from Viveport, keep reading VRFocus.

Devs to get 100% Revenue From Viveport Subscription Until Year End

After opening up its platform and subscription service earlier this month to Oculus Rift owners, Viveport has today made the service even better for virtual reality (VR) developers by announcing a 100 percent revenue share.

Viveport_Sub

From today until the end of 2018, developers who have a title in the Viveport Subscription will get all of the revenue – instead of the normal 70% (with Viveport receiving 30%). This certainly makes the prospect of making their content available via subscription far more lucrative, especially for smaller indie studios.

If you’re a VR developer keen to make use of the offer you can do so by following these Viveport proceedures:

Existing Viveport developer?

  1. Login to the Developer Console.
  2. Navigate to ‘Program Opt-ins’
  3. Check the box to opt-in to Viveport Subscription.

New Viveport developer?

  1. Sign up as a Viveport Developer via the Developer Console.
  2. Upload required files and details for your new title.
  3. Under ‘Program Opt-ins’, check the box to opt-in to Viveport Subscription.

Since its introduction Viveport Subscription has expanded to 500 titles with Viveport apps also available through Amazon.

Viveport Subscription works in a number of ways. To those new to the service they can signup for a free 14-day trial, after which it costs £8.99 GBP per month. For this cost users can choose five titles per month, then at the end either keeping them for another month or swapping them out for different videogames. Those who enjoy the service but want to save more cash can signup to the subscription plans. Starting from £19.99 for 3 months, there’s also £39.99 for 6 months or £79.99 for 12 months, each still working on the 5 titles per month rotation.

Of course as VRFocus previously reported, these offers are now not only open to HTC Vive users but Oculus Rift owners as well.

Viveport launched in September 2016 with the revenue share part of its second anniversary celebrations. Should any further offers be announced, VRFocus will let you know.

Viveport Becomes the ‘Best in Both Worlds’ With new Subscription Offer

Earlier today Oculus Rift support went live on Viveport, allowing users even more options when purchasing virtual reality (VR) titles. Yet the online retail outlet isn’t stopping there, announcing a new limited time offer on Viveport Subscription’s as well as additional titles making their way to the service.

SHOOTY FRUITY PREVIEW SCREENSHOT_6

Oculus Rift and HTC Vive owners looking at a Viveport Subscription journey can now get a great deal with the Best in Both Worlds offer starting today. From 4th September to 16th September 11:59pm PDT, customers who buy a 3-month, 6-month, or 12-month Subscription bundle (currently available for a 25% discount) will get additional free titles to keep forever for their content library. The deals are as follows:

  • 3-Month Plan ($19.99): Get Shooty Fruity to keep forever for free (Over $39 USD in value)
  • 6-Month Plan ($39.99): Get Everest VR + Shooty Fruity to keep forever for free (Over $74 in value)
  • 12-Month Plan ($79.99): Get Final Soccer VR + Everest VR + Shooty Fruity + Guns’n’Stories: Bulletproof VR (Over $154 in value)

“With Viveport Subscription, Oculus Rift owners can avoid two of virtual reality’s most discussed issues – trialing new content and cost,” said Rikard Steiber, President of Viveport in a statement. “By choosing five titles a month from Viveport Subscription’s curated library, consumers can discover great VR content while saving hundreds of dollars. We are just getting started on supporting Oculus Rift owners and look forward to continue adding content to the Viveport line-up.”

As well as the Best in Both Worlds offer, Cloudhead Games has brought its two sci-fi puzzle titles to the service. “We’re thrilled to be bringing The Gallery – Episode 1: Call of the Starseed and The Gallery – Episode 2: Heart of the Emberstone to Viveport Subscription,” said Jo Dunlop at Cloudhead Games. “Launching on Viveport Subscription enables a whole new audience to have access to our content for the first time, further expanding and enriching our community.”

In addition to all that, Vive Studios’ Ready Player One: OASIS beta will receive a significant update this month, for both HTC Vive and Oculus Rift owners. The upgrade will allow players to customise their own OASIS personas in a new Avatar Creator while experiencing new levels in Battle for the OASIS, Smash, Fracture and Gauntlet, totaling an additional 15+ hours of gameplay. Ready Player One: OASIS beta’s content upgrade and all new DLC will be available for $19.99 and included in Viveport Subscription soon. For any further updates keep reading VRFocus.

Viveport Becomes Hardware Agnostic Adding Oculus Rift Support

HTC made quite the announcement last month when it revealed that Viveport would no longer solely support HTC Vive, adding Oculus Rift into the mix as well. For those Oculus Rift users keen on seeing what Viveport has to offer they’ll be able to start perusing the store today.

VivePort header new

With Steam and Oculus Store at their disposal do Rift owners need another online store to shop at? Viveport might not offer the same amount of content as Steam – or Oculus Store for that matter as developers do still need to opt in – it has one service that neither of its rivals offer, a subscription. The service may not be to everyone’s tastes but for a small fee every month users can play up to five titles and continually spin them out for new ones. Plus, as Oculus Rift compatibility has gone live today, you can now make use of the 14-day free trial.

Aside from the Subscription Service Viveport is currently running a Back to School VR sale offering up to 90 percent off selected titles. VRFocus has already looked through several including OVERVIEW, Operation Apex, RIFF VR, Mars Odyssey, Final Soccer, BoxVR, they’ve all be updated to offer Oculus Rift compatibility.

Additionally, Fast Travel Games has announced today that its sci-fi bow shooter Apex Construct is now on Viveport Subscription for both HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.

Apex Construct

The title received a full five-stars in VRFocus’ review, saying: “Despite some minor gripes, its clear that Apex Construct  represents the way forward for VR videogames, an absorbing, intriguing experience that draws you in with a rich world complete with its own history and mysteries to be unravelled as well as a fluid combat system. Apex Construct is the standard by which future VR titles will be judged, and an indicator that VR has stepped up its game.”

In the end Viveport support means Oculus Rift users have even more choice and flexibility, which VRFocus reckons can only be a good thing.

HTC Opens Its Viveport VR App Store to Oculus Rift Users

Last month HTC announced that the company’s Viveport VR app store would allow developers to sell titles supporting the Oculus Rift. Today the company has official opened Viveport to Rift, which is now supported by nearly 200 games and apps at the time of this writing.

Update (September 4th, 2018): Viveport games now have a brand new Oculus badge, indicating support for Oculus Rift is now live. The original article follows below.

Original Article (August 17th, 2018): HTC has been making moves to promote its Viveport VR app store, an alternative to the de facto content platform for the HTC Vive, SteamVR. Having recently announced a partnership in which users can buy VR apps through Amazon, HTC is now making good on the headset-agnostic promises made regarding the content platform.

The company announced this week that developers can begin offering titles which have Oculus Rift compatibility in addition to the company’s own Vive, with Rift support kicking off in earnest on September 4th. It’s our understanding that this multi-headset compatibility is achieved through the same OpenVR compatibility that allows SteamVR titles to work with both the Vive and the Rift.

The move means that Oculus Rift users will be able to purchase and download select content that developers designate as compatible with the Rift, and also access content through Viveport Subscription, a $9/month subscription service which gives users unlimited access to five titles of their choice (among some 500 in the Viveport Subscription catalog), with the ability to swap out for five new titles each month.

Since launch, Viveport has struggled to find a compelling differentiator to make it stand out against SteamVR which has long offered compatibility with both the Vive and the Rift, and a larger VR library. Viveport Subscription was introduced in 2017 apparently in an effort to create a unique offering, though it’s not clear if the program has done much to add traction to the platform which has historically been critiqued for poor performance and a trailing content library.

Buy a Pre-paid Viveport Subscription plan and Get Moss Free

Earlier this month Viveport began its Summer Sale, offering a range of discounts and deals on the latest virtual reality (VR) titles for HTC Vive. Running this week as part of the sale is a new offer in which you can get Polyarc’s latest adventure  Moss for free by signing up to a pre-paid Viveport Subscription plan.

Moss SCREENSHOT 13

The Viveport Subscription plans come in 3, 6 or 12 month offerings depending on how long users wish to signup for.  Originally, the Viveport subscription service featured just one option, a monthly cost of £8.99 GBP – it was £6.99 to begin with – that auto-renewed, giving subscribers access to five pieces of content each month. With the plans you save money the longer the duration, so a three-month plan costs £19.99, a six-month plan is £39.99, while a 12-month plan will set you back £79.99.

So buy either of those three options and you’ll get Moss thrown in for free. Importantly, as Moss is a free gift its tied to your Viveport library rather than the subscription so if you stop being a subscriber you’ll still have the videogame. If you already have a plan then you won’t be eligible for Moss unless you extend it further by purchasing another.

Moss has become one of VRFocus’ favourite VR titles since its first unveiling during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2017, featuring a cute little mouse named Quill. You have to control her through an ever elaborate series of puzzles in a bid to save the land and her family from a great evil.

VRFocus reviewed the PlayStation VR version at launch, giving it our maximum five star rating, commenting: “Moss is a flawlessly crafted experience starring a character that absolutely deserves to be the face of modern VR. Every inch of the world shows attention to detail, and a story is woven that draws you in, making you truly invested in the world and in Quill as a person.”

The Viveport Subscription plan offer is available until 8th July, 2018. Once purchased you’ll then be sent a code for Moss via email on 10th July. For further Viveport updates as the Summer Sale continues, keep reading VRFocus.

Viveport Subscription is Getting a $2 Per Month Price Hike, Developers to Earn 22% More

Viveport Subscription, the monthly service that lets you play 5 games per month from a curated list, is getting a little more expensive this March. Starting March 22nd, Viveport Subscription will increase its monthly price from $7 to $9.

HTC is grandfathering in current Viveport Subscription members and also anyone who buys before March 22nd, allowing members to keep paying the old price “for at least the rest of 2018,” the company says in a recent press release. The price increase will take effect in the 60+ countries served by Viveport.

To sweeten the bitter pill somewhat, HTC is giving a free title to all current subscribers this month, and also special promotions and discounts to subscribers every month starting this month. The company additionally says Viveport “will continue to add value to Subscription through additional benefits and perks as the service grows.”

Viveport Subscription was first introduced back in April 2017, which initially included 50 titles to choose from. At the time of this writing, the subscription catalog has grown to over 375 titles, including games such as Knockout League (2017)Sairento VR Lite (2017), and Fantastic Contraption (2016). Check out the full list here.

“We are always looking to support the developer ecosystem and with the subscription increase, developers will now be earning an additional ~22% from their title in the Subscription catalog,” said Rikard Steiber, President of Viveport. “Our exclusive promotions on select titles will also give developers another avenue for marketing their games to our most engaged audience.”

Teasing out the meaning from Steiber’s statement somewhat, HTC plans on giving that 22.22% subscription price increase ($7 ÷ $9) directly to its developers not as an act of charity, but doing so to further incentivize developers of higher-quality games to publish to the service too. As the catalog grows in number, it also has to grow in quality to fend off the perception, founded in reality or otherwise, that it’s filled with mediocre games.

HTC Vive Unveils New Trailer for Viveport Subscription

It’s sometimes difficult to afford all the videogames you want to buy. With a lot of great content available for virtual reality (VR) platforms, it is sometimes hard to decide what to spend your hard-earned cash on. HTC Vive owners tend to have an easier time of it with the Viveport Subscription.

The Viveport Subscription service works in a similar fashion to the PlayStation Plus service, though instead of the titles being picked for you, the customer is king, able to choose five title every month to experience on the HTC Vive. You can then choose to keep the titles selected, or change them within the first 3 days of the next subscription period.

Over 230 titles on the Viveport platform are available to try, including highly regarded and critically acclaimed titles such as Tilt Brush, Fantastic Contraption or Airborne VR 1944. Some titles have been limited to only being available to customers with a Viveport subscription, such as Sky Sanctuary and MageWorks.

HTC Vive owners can test out the Viveport Subscription with a free trial, which allows the customer to subscribe for a month for free. If the customer no longer wishes to continue with the service after that point, it can be cancelled on the web or through the Vive software.

The Viveport subscription costs £6.99 (GBP) a month. Further details can be found on the Viveport website. You can watch the new trailer below.

VRFocus will bring you further news on HTC Vive products and services as it becomes available.

Viveport Subscription Service Doubling Content to Over 150 Titles

Back in April HTC Vive’s online content platform Viveport launched its subscription service, allowing users to pay a monthly fee for a select number of videogames which could be swapped out every month. Today the company has announced that the amount of titles available for Viveport Subscription will now be doubled, giving gamers even more choice.

The Viveport Subscription service is adding more than 75 new titles to its library, bringing the total number to more than 150. These include ROM: Extraction, Knockout League, Overkill, Cosmic Trip and Sairento VR as well as over two dozen apps that have never been made available outside of Asia before.

Viveport_Subscription_Games_1500x600

“With Viveport Subscription, we want to give customers an easy and affordable way to experience more amazing VR content for a low monthly fee,” said Rikard Steiber, President of Viveport at HTC Vive. “We are doubling the number of available titles to over 150 with new bestsellers and a wide range of content available in the West for the first time. We want to offer VR developers the most ways to monetise their content, and they now have an additional channel to reach new audiences and generate more revenue.”

Viveport Subscription is available for £6.99 GBP a month and currently offers new customers a free, no-obligation trial for the first month. They can then choose unlimited access to five titles each month. At the end of the month if they continue with the service they can continue with what they’ve got or change any of them for something new.

Today’s announcement sees the biggest addition of content since Viveport Subscription began. Last month Great Pyramid VR, Spacetours VR – EP1 The Solar System, Frontier VR, MakeVR, VR Home, Solitaire VR, Arcade Saga, OuijaVR and Alcatraz: VR Escape Room.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of Viveport, reporting back with the latest updates.
