Fate/Grand Order VR feat. Mash Kyrielight to get a Western PlayStation VR Release

Back in 2017 Japanese developer, Type-Moon released Fate/Grand Order VR feat. Mash Kyrielight exclusively for PlayStation VR, solely for its home market for free. Today, Type-Moon in conjunction with Aniplex and DelightWorks have announced a western launch will now take place in February.

Fate/Grand Order VR

The synopsis for the title explains that: “Fate/Grand Order VR feat. Mash Kyrielight is a VR drama based on the popular mobile RPG Fate/Grand Order. Players take on the role of a Master, and have a chance to spend some one-on-one time with Mash, who has come to their room seeking advice. What does she want to talk about? Does it have something to do with this new training regimen? Things will be a little different from the usual Fate/Grand Order story!”

At the heart of the title is heroine Mash. A human who fused with a Servant to become a Demi-Servant, she is described as a kindhearted girl with an air of mystery she always refers to the player as “Senpai.” Also in the experience is Saber-class Servant Altria Pendragon, which Aniplex reveals is: “The legendary King Arthur of Britain, summoned as a Servant. Before being known as King Arthur, she was simply called Altria. Having spent her life pretending to be a man, she is unused to favours from the opposite sex.”

Fate/Grand Order VR Gets New 360-Degree Trailer

Fate/Grand Order VR will be heading to PlayStation VR as a free download for users in Japan on 6th December, 2017. Developer Type-Moon have released a 360-degree trailer to raise excitement for the title amongst fans.

Fate/Grand Order VR is a spin-off from online free-to-play RPG Fate/Grand Order, which is in turn based on the Fate/Stay Night visual novel series. Fate/Grand Order is a turn-based tactical RPG that follows the story of a group called the Grand Order, who have been charged with the task of travelling back in time to correct a series of temporal anomalies that threaten to render humanity extinct.

As with the Fate/Stay Night titles, Fate/Grand Order presents its story in the format of a visual novel, in which the player takes the role of a ‘Master’ who can command powerful summons and familiars known as ‘Servants’. Each servant has its own personal scenario that the player explores over the course of gameplay.

The virtual reality (VR) spin-off, which to is known in full as Fate/Grand Order VR feat. Mash Kyrielight and instead of a full RPG, will instead act a a ‘VR Drama’ set in the Fate/Grand Order universe. Players will be able to travel with Mash, a ‘Servant’ character from the Fate/Grand Order RPG who has been infused with a powerful Heroic Spirit, something that servers to tie in to the overarching mythology elements taken from the legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.

What level of interaction players will have during Fate/Grand Order VR is not yet known. The title will be available for free download for PlayStation VR users in Japan from 6th December, 2017. The 360-degree trailer is available to view below.

Fate/Grand Order VR feat. Mashu Kyrielight Coming to PlayStation VR in Japan for Free

In July Japanese developer Type-Moon released the second trailer for its PlayStation VR title Fate/Grand Order VR feat. Mash Kyrielight. Today the studio has announced that the videogame will be released via the Japanese PlayStation Store on 6th December for free.

So far only title character Mash Kyrielight, also known as Shielder in the series, genetically engineered being has been showcased in screenshots and trailers. Very little has been detailed on the exact gameplay mechanics and how they might differ in virtual reality (VR) over the mobile versions.

This will likely be a Japan only release, but never say never as this week did see the launch of Million Arthur VR: Character Command RPG (called Kai-ri-Sei Million Arthur VR in Japan) for HTC Vive, as there’s usually a market for Japanese titles in the west. Whether Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) will do so is another matter.

Fate/Grand Order VR feat. Mash Kyrielight Receives Second Trailer

It has been some time since we last heard about PlayStation VR title Fate/Grand Order VR feat. Mash Kyrielight. Developed by Japanese developer Type-Moon and made based on its traditionally smartphone-based game series Fate/Grand Order (which debuted in 2015) the title was initially announced at the developer’s Fate/Grand Order Winter Festival back in January. Since that time, and its initial trailer, which was little more than the announcement itself, there has been no word of the videogame which is also being made in conjunction with Aniplex and Delight Works, Inc.

Fate-Go-VR-Ann-PSVRThis changed as of Friday night however, with the reveal of a new trailer featuring title character Mash Kyrielight, also known as Shielder in the series. A genetically engineered being with, initially, a relatively short lifespan until events near the end of Fate/Grand Order, as with her initial appearance she will refer to the player-protagonist as her senior or senpai.

The trailer does not show much by way of gameplay but features Mash effectively stepping back into her identity of Shielder by changing back into her more regular battle costume behind a screen. Hints of what the game will truly entail are also given at the end.

There’s still no definite date as to when the game will be released, however the trailer description does indicate that it will be in Winter this year. As more information becomes available we will of course keep you up to date on VRFocus.

Fate/Grand Order VR feat. Mash Kyrielight Revealed for PlayStation VR

In a recent announcement Japanese developer Type-Moon revealed it would be working on a PlayStation VR version of its smartphone role-playing game (RPG) Fate/Grand Order. Called Fate/Grand Order VR feat. Mash Kyrielight the studio has accompanied the announcement with a teaser trailer.

Unveiled at the Fate/Grand Order Winter Festival, the only details Type-Moon has mentioned about the title so far revolve around meeting titular character Servant Mash Kyrielight in virtual reality, and the video (seen below) doesn’t exactly showcase a great deal more, with a slow pan across an image of Kyrielight.

The original Fate/Grand Order video game launched on iOS and Android in 2015, inspiring a TV anime special Fate/Grand Order: First Order that aired in December report Anime News Network.
