When Google announced its Tour Creator during the I/O conference in May, the focus wasn’t just on teachers and students being able to create their own immersive tours but businesses as well. While Google offers one avenue for the creation of a 360-degree tour Concept3D offers another, having launched its new Tour Builder platform this week.
Concept3D specialises in creating software to power immersive online experiences having previously launched its Interactive 3D Map Platform. With Tour Builder anyone should be able to create, manage and share their own VR-enabled virtual tours, whether that’s for data centers, hospitals, convention centers and event venues, higher education, large commercial sites, retirement communities and real estate, among others.
The software supports the use of both 360-degree panorama and standard images. When using 360-degree images, tours are automatically set up for viewing in VR.
“We call it immersive because Tour Builder brings audiences right into a highly visual experience; it’s like VR without the need for goggles,” said Concept3D CEO, Gordon Boyes in a statement. “The business applications of Tour Builder are endless, from employee training, hotels and resort marketing, to commercial real estate sales. Tour Builder makes it easier than ever to create exciting and engaging experiences that bring audiences to a location. Like everything we build at Concept3D, our customers control the content and we provide an eye-catching 3D encounter. Much of this same technology is embedded into our interactive maps, Internet of Things (IoT) applications, wayfinding, asset tracking, and space-planning solutions.”
Tour Builder uses a step-by-step process that guides the user through the process of adding information, images, video and audio tracks to tour stops. Once completed and published, the tour can be edited and shared via link. Additionally, by integrating with OpenStreetMap, Tour Builder will create an in-window “minimap” for easy navigation and jumping between stops.
Concept3D’s Tour Builder is free to sign up to and start building, simply follow this link. Apart from the free starter tier there are two further tiers; Foundation, and Enterprise, which include advanced functionality such as unlimited tours, advanced tour embed options, audio narration and more. As Concept3D continue to expand its product lineup VRFocus will keep you updated.
