Ancient Amuletor Releases ‘Into The Ice’ DLC

Publisher Time of Virtual Reality have revealed that DLC for Ancient Amuletor will be getting DLC titled ‘Into the Ice’ that will be available from today, 29th August, 2017.

The DLC packs will be available for free to users who already own copies of the title for the next two weeks. After that, the Into The Ice DLC will be available for $2.99 (USD) from the PlayStation Store.

Into The Ice will contain two new maps, the Ice Cave, a frozen stage that is designed to reflect the Nordic theme of the DLC, and also The Void, a new level set in Ancient Egypt, which was previously teased on Twitter. A new playable hero will also be introduced, Kane the Viking, a warrior of the North who throws weapons at his enemies. Kane will be the fifth hero to be introduced to the title, in addition to existing heroes the Archer, Gunner, Puppeteer and Mage.

VRFocus previously reviewed Ancient Amuletor and gave it a generally positive review, saying: “The levels look beautiful, the use of Unreal Engine 4 clear in the graphical fidelity and colours. The title uses the ancient world as inspiration for the levels, which creates a nice ambiance, though the comic-book-like ‘kill’ and ‘slow’ pop-ups are jarringly out-of-place at times. Its also a shame that there is no plot or storyline to speak of, no voice acting or comments from the hero characters. It would be nice to know why we are defending these crystals, who the heroes are and why they are there.”

Ancient Amuletor has also recently received an update introducing left-handed support, better online functionality and a leaderboard.

TVR Unveils Next VR Title Soul Dimension for PlayStation VR

Time of Virtual Reality (TVR), the studio behind PlayStation VR titles Ace Banana and Ancient Amuletorhas revealed its next project, a puzzle-solving horror experience called Soul Dimension

Developed by Keenvision, TVR hasn’t released many in depth details regarding the videogame, other than it’s scary, has puzzles and ‘the player has the ability to enter different dream worlds’. Other than that, all there is to go on is the creepy trailer which can be seen below.

Soul Dimension screenshot 2

The video wanders through a seemingly empty house, with swinging lights that creak and strange shadows flitting about. Of course in a horror videogame if you think you’re alone then you most likely aren’t. Shadowy figures appear then fade away, are they good or do they have more sinister intentions?

For PlayStation VR owners who want to find out more they won’t have to wait long. Soul Dimension is due to launch next Tuesday 22nd August.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of TVR, reporting back with its latest VR projects.

Ancient Amuletor Will Be Getting DLC

Publishers of PlayStation VR wave shooter Ancient Amuletor, Time of VR have announced on Twitter their intention to bring downloadable content to the title, starting with a new level titled The Void which will be released on 29th August, 2017.

Ancient Amuletor is a first-person wave shooter set in a fantasy world inspired by ancient civilisations such as the Ancient Egyptians. Players can control one of four hero characters, Mage, Gunner, Puppeteer or Archer. The goal is to cut down undead monsters before they can get to the power crystals and destroy them. Some levels feature boss fights against giant creatures such as a stone sphinx. Players can teleport around the arena and lay down traps, adding a strategic element and the option to switch hero on the fly is also present for if a different gameplay style is needed.

VRFocus previously reviewed Ancient Amuletor, giving it a positive review, saying: “Ancient Amuletor is a fun way to kill a few hours, with some simple, intuitive combat and enough interesting innovations to keep it fresh. Along with the lovely graphics making it nice to look at.”

So far, few details except the name and two screenshots of the new level have been revealed. The new ‘The Void’ level appears to be shrouded in night, creating a slightly different atmosphere as giant stone Anubis statues loom over the area.

There is no confirmation on what price point the DLC level will be set at, or if it will be free, as the developer has previously indicated its intention to release free DLC packs. It is not known at this point what other DLC may be in the works.

VRFocus will bring you further information on Ancient Amuletor as it becomes available.

PlayStation VR Tower Defence Title Ancient Amulator Gets Release Date

Publisher Time of Virtual Reality have announced that its co-operative tower defence title Ancient Amulator will be coming to PlayStation VR on the 27th June, 2017.

A first-person tower defence title set in ancient times, players can choose one of four heroes to battle against waves of enemies using the PlayStation Move controllers to be either a Mage, Gunner, Puppeteer or Archer.

Built using Unreal Engine 4, the title is designed to be easy to pick up and play. In order to create a smooth, dynamic experience, it’s even possible to switch hero in mid-battle if the player discovers that a different play style is required. The players can attack magical creatures and mythical monsters of legend using weapons such as a bow, gun or a staff that shoots out magical spells.

Last week a playable demo of Ancient Amulator was released for PlayStation VR owners to try out. The demo allowed users to play as either Archer or Mage with an option of shooting arrows or cutting down enemies with blasts of magic. According to the official website, the Archer is an elf named Lia Ilphukiir from the realm of Alfheim who fights with a longbow, wile the Gunner is a young scientist named Katie Clark who has a steampunk style. Details on the Puppeteer and Mage have not yet been revealed.

Upon release, the title is expected to have two modes; a single player story mode or co-operative multiplayer mode for up to three players. The price point has not yet been confirmed.

An announcement trailer for Ancient Amulator is available to view below.

Ancient Magic Rises on to PlayStation VR with Ancient Amuletor

The ancient world is a mystery in many ways. We know very little, when judged against the length of time the civilisation existed, about the ancient Egyptians and how they lived. Developer Time of Virtual Reality (TVR) has chosen to speculate on Egyptian society in upcoming co-op shooter Ancient Amuletor.

The title is set in a world strongly inspired by the style, art and mythology of ancient Egypt. The player can choose a hero character to play as, each of whom have different abilities and attributes to match differing play styles. The videogame can be played solo, or in co-operative mode with friends. The aim is to defend the magical crystals that maintain balance in the world of Ancient Amuletor.

The developers have so far finalised four different hero types. Archer, Gunner, Mage and Puppeteer. It is possible to switch to a different hero even while in the middle of a fight if the player finds that a different skillset is required. Two heroes have been given names and backgrounds so far; Lia Ilphukiir is an elf from a realm called Alfheim, a ranger captain who fights with a bow and arrow, thus filling the Archer archetype. Katie Clarke is a human scientist and inventor who created her own custom guns. She can also use wild fire for area of effect damage and fits into the gunner niche.

Ancient Amuletor was created with Unreal Engine 4 and designed to have a simple and intuitive arcade style that is easy to pick up and play without extensive tutorials. The developers are hoping to make Ancient Amuletor available some time in summer 2017 for PlayStation VR.

A trailer for the title is available to view below. Further information can be found on the Ancient Amuletor official website.

Co-op Tower Defence Title Ancient Amuletor Coming to PlayStation VR this Summer

Time of Virtual Reality (TVR), the developer behind PlayStation VR title Ace Banana, has announced its virtual reality (VR) project for the headset, Ancient Amuletor.

A tower defence title set in the ancient world, players will have to battle legendary magical creatures and monsters in both single-player and co-op multiplayer modes. Rather than simply controlling a variety of towers to defend a base from waves of enemies, players are put in direct control multiple heroes ranging from archers, mages, gunners and puppeteers, with the ability to swap between them at any time depending on strategy.

TVR has released the first couple of screenshots as well as a reveal trailer to showcasing some of the gameplay. The studio will also be heading to PAX East this weekend for the first publicly playable demo, but its not confirmed if this will be the single-player or multiplayer mode.

It’ll also be taking two further titles to the event, Geronimo Interactive’s Reborn, an action videogame mixing up melee and ranged combat coming to PlayStation VR this year with Oculus Rift and HTC Vive support in the future. And puzzle game Lighting End set to launch for HTC Vive this summer and coming to PlayStation VR by the end of the year.

Ancient Amuletor will launch for PlayStation VR this summer, with users needing PlayStation Move controllers to play the title. For any further updates from TVR on Ancient Amuletor, keep reading VRFocus.
