Quantum Storey’s XR Books to Bring Hasbro’s My Little Pony to Life

For the past few years, Quantum Storey has built its XR platform around immersive storytelling, bringing books to life using the power of virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR). Today, the company has announced a collaboration with Hasbro, entering a multi-year licensing agreement that’ll include the My Little Pony, Transformers and Clue franchises.

This publishing collaboration’s first product will be My Little Pony: Virtual Magic based upon Hasbro’s film, My Little Pony, A New Generation. Utilising Quantum Storey’s platform which combines mobile devices and XR technology, My Little Pony: Virtual Magic will feature PortalPoints that reward readers at the end of every chapter, transporting them inside the world they were just reading.

To increase the active engagement of readers, there’s a gamification system featuring an achievements panel. The more a child reads the more they’ll be rewarded, unlocking filters of characters from previous chapters, whilst parents receive notifications of how well they’re doing.

“Quantum Storey is excited to team up with Hasbro to add an entirely new dimension of interaction that will inspire young fans seeking a deeper connection with their favourite characters,” said Quantum Storey CEO and Founder J.M. Haines in a statement. “and to kick off this collaboration, we are introducing the world’s first Quantum Movie Novel, My Little Pony: Virtual Magic, based on Hasbro’s major hit film, My Little Pony: A New Generation.”

Walmart To Get Hotel Transylvania 3 VR Studio Edition

When things get stressful, you need to take a little ‘me time’ – goodness knows we all know that. When you’re the Lord of darkness and in charge of a very busy hotel however, getting away from it all comes with a lot of baggage.

The Quantum Storey Company, Inc. - LogoBut for Dracula there is no escape from his friends the Drac Pack, or his father, nor it seems everyone else that works at his hotel either. That’s not even mentioning the giant dog in a trench coat his Grandson is smuggling along for the ride. All of which was covered earlier this year in Hotel Transylvania 3.

Now Sony Pictures has teamed up with virtual reality (VR) book company Quantum Storey to create a special activity booklet that will allow owners of the forthcoming Hotel Transylvania 3 VR Studio edition to take a holiday of their own. A virtual one with all their favourite characters from the Hotel Transylvania films and engage in activities in both 360 degree video and augmented reality (AR).

“With this new product platform, consumers now have the ability to ‘step inside’ and interact with scenes from the film for a deeper, immersive 360° VR experience.” Explained Senior Vice President of Digital Distribution at Sony Pictures Entertainment, Pete Wood. “After seeing the capability of Quantum Storey’s extended reality platform with their Operation YOU VR book series, we are thrilled to bring this new product category to market combining the immersive world of VR and AR with physical books and for the first time putting consumers inside the world of Hotel Transylvania.”

Quantum Storey to Introduce New VR and AR Books at CES 2018

The Quantum Storey Company are finding brand new ways to introduce both virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) content to a wider audience, and will be showing off much more of what they have planned during a press conference at the Mirage Hotel, Las Vegas, during CES 2018.

The Quantum Storey Company Operation You image

Operation YOU has already launched at Walmart in the United States, paving the way for new VR and AR experiences to be found on retail store shelves. Their approachable, straightforward applications for smartphone allow users of all ages to easily access and enjoy VR and AR content.

A combination of traditional activity books and a AR tech allows children to see characters come to life in front of them, or, with a Google Cardboard-style VR headset, they can enter the worlds their characters live in. Operation YOU, as the name suggests, puts the user into the lead role in the story, with many books planned in the series.

They’ll be showing off their new products at Pepcom’s 2018 Digital Experience, Monday January 8th 2018. “We are delighted to have the opportunity to showcase this next generation experience and consumer technology to members of the press at Pepcom,” says J.M. Haines, founder and CEO of The Quantum Storey Company and author of the Operation YOU series. “Virtual Reality Books are transformative and unlike anything the publishing industry has seen before. As consumer habits continue to evolve, so too does the demand for something revolutionary and out of the box, and we are proud and excited to be able to deliver it with Operation YOU.”

Readers of the books will be prompted to download the free app to enhance their story, introducing small minigames to play while the story plays out, making Operation YOU a truly interesting media proposition, and perhaps one of the better ways to get children interested in AR and VR.

The Quantum Storey Company has its headquarters in Hollywood, but have already opened offices wordwide, in Amsterdam, Mumbai and Seoul. The Quantum Storey Company Launches VR Book Series Operation YOU at Walmart

There have been various ways publishers and developers have tried to combine both books and virtual reality (VR), to make for an immersive unique experience. Curiscope recently partnered with book publisher Dorling Kindersley on All About Virtual Reality, or then there’s Masters of the Sun graphic novel by hip-hop group Black Eyed Peas. The latest comes from The Quantum Storey Company with a new VR book series called Operation YOU.

Beginning Quantum Storey’s new category of VR books, the first Operation YOU title, Morning Nightmare, depicts the pitfalls and pressures experienced boarding the school bus. Written in the first person, as readers turn the pages of the printed book, Ray, a major character in the series, invites them to download the free app., and use the included cardboard VR headset to jump inside the story. Once in the book, readers experience what happens in the first person, as the primary character is the reader. So they’ll find themselves on the bus, having to dodge snowballs and much more.

Additionally, Operation YOU also utilises augmented reality (AR) in certain sections to bring the pages to life.

“We created a completely new and exciting way to experience traditional books by enabling readers the unprecedented ability to connect emotionally to the text and illustrations by transporting inside a virtual representation of the pages of a story, producing a visceral interaction,” says J. M Haines, founder and CEO of The Quantum Storey Company and author of the Operation YOU series. “Debuting with Walmart for the launch of Operation YOU, provides an incredible opportunity to introduce this next level of storytelling and consumer technology to children from all walks of life, bringing families of the new generation, together.”

The Operation YOU app is compatible with both iOS and Android devices. The flexi-bound books, printed on durable heavy stock and illustrated by the Visser Bros., will retail for $17.49 USD with The Quantum Storey Company signing a exclusivity deal with Walmart so the retailer will be selling the books at $12.24.
