5 Indie Titles Due to Launch on PlayStation VR This Week

For PlayStation VR owners looking for a new videogame to purchase this week, indie developers have got five different titles instore. Arriving in the next few days will be Along Together, Black Hat Cooperative, The Perfect Sniper, To the Top  and  Wraith.

Along Together key art

One of the bigger titles in the bunch is Along Together by US developer Turbo Button. The team behind SMS Racing and  Floor Plan, Along Together originally debuted last year for Google Daydream which VRFocus reviewed. The videogame is all about guiding a child through fantasy worlds, solving puzzles within the environment to make new paths. Players control the kid in addition to having their own direct actions; moving objects which create new paths for the child to follow.

Along Together is scheduled to launch for PlayStation VR tomorrow, with versions for Oculus Go, Oculus Rift, Samsung Gear VR and Steam also arriving.

Black Hat Cooperative is an older co-op stealth experience that originally came to HTC Vive in 2016. Created by Team Future, Black Hat Cooperative pits players and an ally against robot agents that are hunting both of you. Player one is in virtual reality (VR), sneaking past agents, collecting treasure, keys, and passwords. Whilst player two is on a standard monitor viewing everything on a map helping to guide their partner whilst being able to hack security and enemies.

Now it’s time for a bit of action with The Perfect Sniper. A stylized, story-driven experience where you play a morally ambiguous hero ridding the streets of crime, The Perfect Sniper will have you doing more than just camping out on rooftops or in windows, getting involved in car chase shootouts, target practice sessions, helicopter missions and more.

To the Top is an action platformer with 35+ levels to conquer. You control a Super Bot, human piloted robots engineered with super powers to protect and serve the people, and the To The Top Academy is where you train. You’re given complete freedom to work your way through the obstacle course style levels, climbing, leaping, skating and even flying, with the goal to complete each challenge as quickly as possible.

Lastly there’s Wraith, an action-packed survival shooter. Just like most of the other titles on this list, Wraith is another PC VR port, this time by Sinn Studio Inc. The title has you fighting wave after wave of deadly Wraiths, with different types of Wraith beginning to appear over time. There’s a real-time marketplace and currency system that allows you to purchase weapons, add-ons, ammunition, recharge your flashlight battery and more on the fly, reducing the need to slog it out until the round ends to get more supplies.

If any of these peek your interest then they’ll all be on PlayStation Store in the next few days. For the latest PlayStation VR news, keep reading VRFocus.

The Perfect Sniper has Launched on Steam VR

Crime doesn’t pay. Unless you don’t get caught, in which case, it can pay handsomely, and as an enterprising youth with a need for cash in the wallet, crime seems like a sensible idea. In a world with corrupt politicians and police, crime is really the only option. In The Perfect Sniper, you’ll become the morally ambiguous hero the city needs.

We’ve seen a fair few virtual reality (VR) shooters and sniping games already, such as The Last Sniper which takes you to World War II with HTC Vive. The Perfect Sniper has shot onto Steam VR today, and you can play it with a variety of VR head-mounted displays (HMDs) since it supports HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and Windows Mixed Reality devices. The game will be coming to PlayStation VR, too, for console VR fans.

The storyline is that the Romano family has taken over the city, and with all the politicians and police under their influences, the only person who can deliver justice is apparently a man or woman with a sniper rifle.

The videogame’s store page describe The Perfect Sniper as a “stylised, story-driven and action-packed VR videogame,” so that’s always promising. You’ll be doing more than just camping on a rooftop though, as in the trailers we see car chase shootouts, target practice sessions, helicopter missions and more.

The polygonal graphics and cityscapes certainly are striking, and the variety of mission choices handily mix up many VR sniper titles, which often expect you to stand static while shooting at targets.

The developers list “Lots of Fan Request Implementation” on the videogame’s Steam store page, so we can only assume that fan feedback has, and hopefully will continue to be taken on board and implemented into the videogame through updates.

The Perfect Sniper is another great VR videogame for shooting fans, and is sure to satisfy many with the variety of modes and interesting stylised graphics. We’ll keep you updated on The Perfect Sniper and more VR videogames coming in the future, so keep reading VRFocus for all of the latest news, reviews and previews of the latest VR titles.

The Perfect Sniper Brings Sharpshooting Thrills To PC VR and PSVR Later This Month

The Perfect Sniper Brings Sharpshooting Thrills To PC VR and PSVR Later This Month

When we first covered The Nest a year and a half ago, it was a novel and unique concept for a game that used roomscale VR setups to the fullest. As a sniper in a tower you’d have to take aim at robots that had overrun a city by peeking up out of a window and dodging their returning fire when possible. Now The Perfect Sniper from Sinn Studio is looking to take that general concept and expand on it further.

According to the CEO of Sinn Studio on the game’s Discord channel, Road to VR indicates that the game is schedule for a Jan. 15th release on Steam VR with Rift, Vive, and Windows VR support. A “few weeks” later a PSVR version is expected with full PS Aim controller support.

Rather than being just another wave shooter, Sinn Studios is positioning the game as one with more of a narrative focus and varied mission structures. You won’t just be perched on a stationary lookout as you’ll actually have to be involved in car chases, escort missions, and plenty of target-elimination objectives. Hopefully it’s longer than just a couple of hours.

‘The Perfect Sniper’ to Launch on SteamVR Headsets January 15th, PSVR Version to Follow in “a few weeks”

The Perfect Sniper is an upcoming tactical shooter from Toronto-based indie studio Sinn Studio that aims to soften the blow of shooting someone in the face with its charming low-poly visuals. First revealed in October via the cinematic trailer above, The Perfect Sniper is now slated to release on January 15th on Steam.

CEO and lead developer Alex Sinn released news via the game’s Discord channel, confirming it will release on January 15th on Steam for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. The game’s Steam page also lists support for Windows ‘Mixed Reality’ VR headsets, although Sinn made no specific mention.

Sinn maintains the PSVR release will come in “a few weeks” after its release on Steam. The PSVR release will include support for PS Aim.

Here’s how Sinn Studios describes it:

The Romano family has taken over the city. Corrupt politicians and police agencies do nothing to stop them. Become the morally ambiguous champion this city needs as a Sniper in Virtual Reality.

The Perfect Sniper is a stylized, story-driven and action-packed VR game that lets you take on the role of a deadly vigilante as you take down the Romanos, an organized crime family involved in an underground market for weapons, drugs and human trafficking. Tactical target eliminations, car chases and more; prevent minor crime with sharp precision and stop major crime with nothing but deadly force.

The Perfect Sniper will be the studio’s second VR game following their shooter Wraith (2017). Wraith is a bog standard wave shooter, likely a reason for its tepid release last October, so we’re really hoping The Perfect Sniper can dive deeper in terms of story and varied gameplay.

The studio says story mode will likely “take anywhere between 45 minutes to an hour and a half depending on the player,” although an Arcade mode will be available so players can snipe for fun.

Check out the game on Steam here.
