A couple of weeks ago HB Studios announced it was developing a virtual reality (VR) version of its golfing title, The Golf Club for HTC Vive. Today the developer has released the videogame on Steam Early Access for those who love playing the sport.
The original title won Operation Sports Indie Game Of The Year, and the VR version is set to feature the same realistic setup. For the early access version of The Golf Club VR, the title will feature three 18-hole courses and a 9-hole mini putt course, all tailored and optimised specifically for the HTC Vive.
It’ll include an interactive tutorial, 1:1 motion controls for realism, club flexibility, left and right-handed play, three difficulty levels, interactive objects, all new 3D audio, a smart watch providing important shot information, a yardage booklet for a top down view of the courses, and for the first time players will be able to freely explore The Golf Club’s courses, with the ability to teleport anywhere around each course’s 2km-square environments.
“We’re excited to hear what our fans of TGC and newcomers alike think of The Golf Club VR,” said Shaun West, Producer of The Golf Club VR. “We’ll be listening to all feedback and making decisions over the coming weeks based on this. Community has always been an important part of the original TGC’s success and The Golf Club VR will be no different.”
As an introductory offer HB Studios is offering a limited time discount for Steam users. From now until 24th October gamers will be able to get a 15 percent discount off the regular price. Dropping the cost from £18.99 GBP to £16.14.
Early access should last around two months, after which the fully released version will include access to the full catalogue of the original The Golf Club courses, meaning over 130,000 courses and counting will be available to choose from.
VRFocus will continue its coverage of The Golf Club VR, reporting back with any further announcements.
