Dystopian Action RPG Resist Releases On Quest Nov 11

Resist, a new action RPG from The Binary Mill, developers of Mini Motor Racing X and Gun Club VR, releases for Oculus Quest on November 11.

Resist appeared on the ‘Coming Soon’ section of the Quest store this week, and some further info in the description of the announcement trailer reveals a release date set for next Thursday. It’s a dystopian action RPG ‘designed exclusively for Quest’ that looks quite impressive in the short trailer embedded above.

It looks to be a mixture of Spider-Man-esque swinging action combined with some gunplay and puzzles set around a dystopian-alien/robot-invasion narrative:

A dystopian future. An authoritarian regime. A tale of violence, intrigue, and hope. Swing from towering skyscrapers and battle deadly enemies as you fight to free your city from the evil that consumes it. Will you bow to the forces of oppression? Or will you have the strength to Resist?

Most notably, the game also features an open world for you to explore (in this case, the city of ‘Concord’) and choose to either progress through the main campaign story or take on ‘dozens’ of side quests where you can “pillage data facilities, fight enemy hordes, and learn more about the colorful characters of the Resistance.”

There will be a skill tree for leveling up and improving abilities, along with online leaderboards so you can compete for high scores online with select skill challenges.

Resist will release exclusively for Oculus Quest on November 11 — you can wishlist it on the Oculus Store now. There’s no mention of any other platforms just yet — it looks like it’s Quest exclusive, at least at launch.

Burn Rubber in Mini Motor Racing X for Oculus Quest & Rift Next Week

Mini Motor Racing X

Released as a PlayStation VR exclusive late last year, Micro Machines style Mini Motor Racing X will soon be making its way to Oculus Quest and Rift, developer The Binary Mill has announced this week.

Mini Motor Racing X

The tiny racer franchise was originally a mobile videogame for iOS devices, way before making it leap into virtual reality (VR). Offering both single-player and online multiplayer modes, racers have the choice of playing in-car or via a top-down, overview mode, the latter providing a far more comfortable experience for those unable to race in first-person. There’s even a track-side viewpoint.

With plenty of championships and over 50 courses to master, the Oculus launch will also add new Type X Career and Battle modes for players to tackle, with the multiplayer supporting up to four people online, either head-to-head or co-op.

Levels have multiple day, night and weather variants giving each track an instant replay factor, and there are loads of extra cars to unlock, which can then be suped-up with race winnings.

Mini Motor Racing X

It’s not purely about racing either. The Bumper Ball mode swaps the track for a football pitch where players have to score goals by gracefully trying to manoeuvre a giant beach ball.

The Binary Mill has confirmed that Mini Motor Racing X will be released next Thursday 14th May. It’ll be cross-buy compatible between the two headsets, retailing for $24.99 USD/£19.99 GBP, the same as the PlayStation VR version.

As the Oculus Quest is nearing its first-anniversary VRFocus is expecting an influx of titles even with the current lockdown measures hampering development. Fast Travel Games recently teased hand tracking for The Curious Tale of the Stolen Pets while Aldin Dynamics confirmed the featured would be coming to Waltz of the Wizard: Extended Edition soon. Rush VR Developer to Launch Mini Motor Racing X on PlayStation VR

Known for popular titles like the adrenaline-packed Rush VR and the sharp-shooting Gun Club VR, developer The Binary Mill has announced that its next virtual reality (VR) release will be a PlayStation VR exclusive, Mini Motor Racing X. This pits players in cars that may be small in size but the challenge for first place is still as big as any normal racer.

Mini Motor Racing X

Based on its Mini Motor Racing franchise for iOS devices which first started in 2012, Mini Motor Racing X  keeps that classic arcade-style racing action whilst upgrading it for PlayStation 4 players. Offering four championships with over 50 vibrant environments to master, the experience features full VR support and non-VR gameplay on PlayStation 4 with multiplayer cross-play between them.

There’s an online multiplayer supporting up to four players as well as a local campaign co-op, so they can challenge their friends online in party games or on the couch. Levels have multiple day and night and weather variants giving each track an instant replay factor, and there are loads of extra cars to unlock, which can then be suped-up with race winnings.

Mini Motor Racing XThe Binary Mill plans on releasing Mini Motor Racing X in December for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR, although it hasn’t confirmed a date at present.

PlayStation VR owners are going to have plenty of videogames to choose from over the festive period, both digitally and at retail. Four new videogames are already confirmed for next week, with Highwire Games’ Golem, escape room puzzler Last Labyrinth, VR Ping Pong Pro and Doctor Who: Edge of Time. Before the end of the year Battlewake, Groundhog Day: Like Father Like SonHonor and Duty: D-Day All Out War Edition, Golem and BoxVR will be available on store shelves.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of The Binary Mill and Mini Motor Racing X, reporting back on further updates.

Take an Adrenaline Fueled Ride on PlayStation VR Today With Rush VR

In the world of extreme sports, there always seems to be another step on the ladder that adrenaline junkies can go to. Jumping out of planes to skydive used to be the pinnacle, then it was base jumping, then wingsuiting, then both of those were combined for the insane sport that is proximity flying – jumping off a cliff or other high location and whizzing down the mountainside trying not to hit trees or any other obstacle at high speed. Proximity flying takes years of practice in those other forms before you can even think about taking up this death-defying sport, but thanks to virtual reality (VR) and the developers at The Binary Mill, PlayStation VR users can now have a go in Rush VR.

Rush VR

Rush VR is by no means a new title when it comes to VR, having originally released back in 2017 for Samsung Gear VR before bring ported to Oculus Rift and Oculus Go this year.

Now it’s the turn of PlayStation VR users to feel the rush as they hurtle snowy mountain passes or across lush green landscapes, twisting in and out of deadly cliffs or avoiding the tops of trees. While Rush VR aims to recreate the visceral thrill of wingsuiting it’s still a videogame, so The Binary Mill has seen fit to include some additional extras to up the challenge.

There are over 80 paths to master, with both single-player and online multiplayer modes to consider. Online you can race against up to 11 friends or take on strangers in a quick race. The four mountain locations all feature real-time weather with the graphics improved over the original mobile version.

Other game modes include Race to the finish, Time Attack, and Score Challenge, where you’ll need to work out the best lines to maintain speed or look for checkpoints to continue a specific route. Additionally, you also have a boost meter to play with which can help nab that first place. There’s just one little cravat, to build boost you need to get as close as possible to the walls, floor, or any obstacles without wiping out.

See Rush VR in all its action in the new trailer below, and for further updates on the title, keep reading VRFocus.

Gun Club VR Coming Soon to PlayStation VR

After seeing successful launches on Oculus Rift and HTC Vive a few months ago, Gun Club VR by The Binary Mill is finally making its way to PlayStation VR, with a Fall/ Winter 2018 release window now confirmed.

Gun Club VR

Unlike titles such as Evasion, Firewall Zero Hour or Farpoint where you have giant locations to explore, multiple strategy elements to employ and all manner of hostiles to dispatch, Gun Club VR dispenses with all these frivolities, whittling down the first-person shooter (FPS) experience into pure target practice.

The Binary Mill has focused on a highly realistic design and gameplay mechanics, allowing players to test their shooting skills across a range of scenarios which even include a few zombies along the way. All the weapons are highly detailed, with players able to handle, load, cock and fire them just like the real deal. They’ve been developed to provide real-world ballistics so you can select burst or full auto depending on preference.

Pistols, SMGs, shotguns, assault rifles and grenade launchers are all available. These can all be customised in various ways, with stocks and scopes, extended mags and laser sights just a few of the modifications available.

Gun Club VR

You don’t get access to everything at once however, you need to earn those upgrades on the range. Completing scenarios  including hostage rescue and sniper events will earn you cash to spend on new toys. These in turn can help improve your rank for even more unlockables. There’s even an Allied themed range bringing the historic theatre of World War II right into the Gun Club VR experience.

As 2018 will soon be drawing to a close Gun Club VR can’t be that far away from landing on PlayStation VR. When the studio confirms a more specific date VRFocus will let you know.

Sense Arena Brings VR To Ice Hockey Training

A new VR technology that aims to revolutionize ice hockey training has launched following a test earlier this year with the Boston Bruins and is being boosted by a minor investment from Burins’ right winger David Pastrňák.

As reported by sporttechie, The Czech Republic-based company, called Sense Arena, launched the earlier this week and has official partnerships with a number of organizations in its home country, including the Czech Ice Hockey Association, the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport of Charles University in Prague, and the professional hockey club White Tigers Liberec.

The platform provides users with access to more than 70 training drills which are all designed to help players improve their hockey skills, reaction times, cognitive ability, and many more by allowing them to quickly complete and redo the training thousands of times even when off the ice. The solution is using a HTC Vive headset along with specially-engineered hockey sticks with small sensors on them, a mobile computer kiosk, and four other sensors that are placed in the corners of a room to help the platform track all the action.

Sense Arena is hoping to not only provide current players and teams with a new training solution but also provide new players with an engaging way to speed up their learning. Thanks to the analytics and review side of things, it makes it easier for players to see what they are doing wrong and improve on those mistakes in no time. The end goal is to have the technology involved in some of the biggest hockey markets in the world, including the NHL.

As the technology continues to roll out and get adopted by more teams, VRFocus will be sure to bring you all the latest.

Fnatic's Meta Bunkr

Sansar And Fnatic Partner To Provide eSports Fans A Way To Meet Cyberathletes In VR

Esports organization Fnatic have announced that they will be collaborating with social VR firm Linden Lab’s Sansar so that fans can meet Fnatic eSport athletes in VR.

As reported by venturebeat earlier this week, Sansar is creating the social VR site Fnatic Meta Bunkr which will be a virtual fan hangout designed to enable deeper community engagement. The platform is free-to-access on both PC and VR and the space will provide Fnatic fans with a place to gather together and connect, host events and meetups, meet popular players and personalities, and earn rewards and prizes. Since founding in 2004, the eSports company has won thousands of tournaments across 20-plus games, the most of any organization, and its fan base numbers are in the tends of millions, according to the company, which need a place to connect.

“As a professional esports organisation, Fnatic continues to break the mould from a playing and fan perspective,” said Benoit Pagotto, marketing director at Fnatic: “Just last weekend we claimed our seventh European League Championship Series title in League of Legends, whilst this collaboration with Sansar is a sign of how we’re always looking to enhance the viewing experience we deliver to our growing community of fans worldwide. There’s no doubt that virtual reality within the world of esports is the future of the sport, so we’re incredibly excited to deliver an enhanced more engaging experience to our fans.”

This is not the first partnership that Sansar have set up for their social VR platform as in the past they have introduced it to the Overwatch eSports scene and Greenwall VR.

Rush VR

Experience The Ultimate Thrill As Rush VR Comes To PlayStation VR

Originally released onto the Oculus Rift earlier this year the team at The Binary Mill have revealed that their extreme sports title Rush VR is coming to PlayStation VR later this year. The title sees players put on a wing suit and take flight across snowy terrain in high speed races that see them descending down mountains avoiding cliff faces and trees while hitting the checkpoints.

It isn’t just snow that players will be flying pass as they will be traveling the world and experiencing the thrill of base jumping in rocky canyons, green forest and many more locations complete with a dynamic weather system and day/night cycles. With 90 tracks to master and a number of different game modes including Time Attack and Score Challenge players will need to get use to flying fast if they want to earn the biggest score and take home first place. If that wasn’t enough there are also online leaderboards that mean you can compete with your friends or go head-to-head in 12 player multiplayer matches.

There is no release date just yet for the PlayStation VR release of Rush VR but it is planned to be before the year is out. You can see the announcement trailer below and VRFocus will be sure to bring you all the latest on the release in he future.

Shooting Sim Gun Club VR Leaves Early Access

Over the course of 2015 through to early 2017 it seemed that every other virtual reality (VR) title was some sort of first-person shooter (FPS) – especially of the ‘wave’ variety – as the technology naturally fitted that genre. Nowadays there’s a much better mixture of experiences coming out for VR headsets, but for those still keen on a good shooter, The Binary Mill has just brought Gun Club VR out of Steam Early Access

Gun Club VR

Gun Club VR doesn’t mince its words, its not trying to be anything other than a realistic FPS set in a gun range, with a variety of scenarios to test your VR shooting skills as well as a nice selection of real-world weapons.

The Binary Mill first entered the VR scene with Gun Club 3 VR for Gear VR in 2016 before releasing Gun Club VR almost a year ago. With the full 1.0 version now available players have access to new content, features general fixes. On the weapon side the studio has included the P350 Pistol, UMP45 SMG, Mk18 Assault Rifle, DSR-1 Sniper Rifle, and a M203 Underbarrel Grenade Launcher. An additional Hardcore Mode removes target health indicators and the laser beam, but rewards players with extra cash bonuses (good for buying new guns and attachments).

Gun Club VR features a huge range of real-world guns, from pistols and SMGs to shotguns, assault rifles and grenade launchers. These can all be customised in various ways, with stocks and scopes, extended mags and laser sights just a few of the modifications available. That realism extends to the gun control itself, so you’ll need to flick off the safety, select burst or full auto, extend the stock or rack the slide to clear a round.

Gun Club VR

The Binary Mill has included a bunch of ranges to test out, from hostage rescue to a zombie apocalypse – as well as a more traditional target range. There’s even a World War II inspired Allied range for a more historic scenario.

Gun Club VR supports HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and Windows Mixed Reality headsets. It’s currently on offer with a 25 percent discount available until 3rd September. For any further updates, keep reading VRFocus.

Gun Club 3 VR: Achievements, Cheats, Tips & Tricks

In our achievement feature each week VRFocus has included Steam Achievements and PlayStation VR Trophies but never any for Samsung’s Gear VR. With the ever popular mobile headset’s library of content continuing to grow the applicable titles are few in number. So today VRFocus has chosen Gun Club 3 VR, a first-person shooter (FPS) from The Binary Mill, which includes 10 achievements, all of which are listed below.

Launched back in July 2016, takes players into a high tech firing range where they can tryout all manner of weaponry, based on real world weapons that can be custom fitted with loads of different attachments, from scopes and lasers to under slung grenade launchers.
