Target’s Black Friday Sale Sees $100 Off PlayStation VR, $100 Off PS4 Console

Black Friday is nearly upon us, and now that consumer VR headsets have had a little over a year to mature, the deals are ripe for the picking. The first big verified Black Friday deal comes to Target in the US, which is advertising $100 off all PSVR headsets and $100 off the 1TB PS4, bringing the console to only $200.

At the lowest price ever advertised, the ‘bare bones’ PSVR comes in at only $200 for the sale. That’s of course without the necessary PS Camera and PS Move, but thankfully the fine print on the offer specifies “$100 off all other PlayStation VR headsets,” meaning you’ll probably be able to pick up the ‘all-in’ bundle at $100 off too. It’s uncertain if this means game bundles as well, as the recently announced Skyrim VR + PSVR bundle would be an absolute steal at $350.

If you’re also considering jumping at the deal but don’t already own the necessary PS4, you’ll also find the Sony PlayStation 4 1TB console at the lowest-ever price of $200.

The sale takes place in stores Nov 23 – Nov 25 with doors opening 6PM Thursday and closing at midnight. Doors reopen 6AM Friday. Check out the full catalog here.

Purchases can also be made on Target.com on November 22 beginning at approximately midnight PT (your time here). It’s uncertain how much overlap there’s going to be with online deals versus in-store deals, so keep your eyes peeled on the website before making the mad dash to the store with the rest of humanity.

U.S. Retailer Target Moves into Augmented Reality with See It In Your Space

More and more retail firms are looking at how to use immersive technologies to improve their business. This is particularly true of both augmented reality (AR) and the American market. Previously on VRFocus we’ve brought to you a number of stories as to deals, partnerships and experimentation from some of America’s biggest names in retail. Even earlier today we reported on Mastercard teaming up with ODG and Qualcomm for an AR related retail app. But companies like Apple and IKEA, RedbubbleLowe‘s (on numerous occasions) and QVC have all looked to AR as a new way to improve the shopping experience.

The latest outlet to join the AR space in retailer Target. They are launching a launching something that is becoming an increasingly familiar site. A new AR help tool that will allow you to see your would-be purchases in your home so you can check whether or not they look out of place or not. After all, when you’re buying something as big and expensive as furniture a mistake can be a costly and frustrating one.

Called See It In Your Space, shoppers looking to snap up something from Target‘s new Project 62 line of home furnishings can take a photo of the space in their home then arrange a 3D representation of the product to your preferred location and scale to see if it really would be a talking point of your room – or alternatively be something you’d have to hide from the neighbours. It’s a limited run in terms of the number of goods available for now, but Target have confirmed that it is just the beginning of what is to come. And that the functionality “will roll out to hundreds of more products by the end of the year and thousands of more products in 2018.”

A spokesperson from Target spoke to TechCrunch on what the plans were for See It In Your Space.

“We developed the interface on mobile web first because we wanted to reach a wider audience more quickly.” They explained. “We also feel like by using mobile web, it’s a simple experience – guests can easily snap pictures using their phone, they don’t have to use any additional hardware or apps. We just felt like it was a really straightforward experience.”

VRFocus will bring you further news on AR in the retail space very soon.

Get 25% off PlayStation VR In-Store at Target this Month

Last week saw Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) celebrate the first anniversary of PlayStation VR with a big sale on PlayStation Store – which is still going. For those living in the US who’ve been tempted by the popular virtual reality (VR) headset but have yet to take the plunge, retailer Target is currently running an offer that might be of interest.

Through the company’s Cartwheel app customers can get a massive 25 percent off the regular price, but only in-store. The deal’s only for the core unit itself, so no PlayStation Camera or Move controllers, even so that’s a great discount and if you don’t have the other accessories you’ve saved some cash to go toward’s their purchase.

Additionally, it looks as though you’ll be able to use a Target Redcard to claim a further 5 percent off – just check in-store first.

You’ll need to be quick mind, the offer expires on 21st October, and the PlayStation Celebration Sale ends tomorrow if you want a software bargain.

This is likely a push by Target to not only cash in on the anniversary but also to clear stock for the new headset. This was revealed earlier this month, adding an updated Processor Unit that supports HDR pass through and an updated design that enables the stereo headphone cables to be integrated with the VR headset.
