Bat Batty Bats in Roccat Studios Battiest Videogame Yet

One of the more weird and wonderful virtual reality (VR) title to appear in 2017 was Elevator… to the Moon!a humorous puzzler from ROCCAT Games Studio. In fact it was the small team’s first immersive title, arriving for mobile and PC-based headsets. This week sees the team launch its next project, an equally weird and wacky title called Bat Batty Bats.

Bat Batty Bats

Bat Batty Bats is an arcade style, pinball batting mashup that’s all about scoring some big points. The videogame may even look familiar to those who’ve played Elevator… to the Moon!

“We got a bunch of requests from fans to make [a] standalone version of the arcade machine you unlock in Elevator to the Moon on Gear and Go,” said project lead Marc Barnes in an email. “So we made this new spinoff version, where the child version of President Roccmeier (voiced by my son) is playing games on his Heftitronics console late at night.”
To ensure the new experience has enough content to stand by itself ROCCAT Games Studios has bumped up the content with endless modes of all the levels with separate leader-boards, a new secret weapon, a new Hubworld and new ways to unlock all the cool weapons.

Of course the main gameplay is still there, with players having to beat, block and bounce bats into bats and bumpers for bucket loads of bonus-points. There will be bonanza events on a Big Ben with British bulldogs and Bad-Ass Bazooka Babies, plus the chance to beat the Bizarre Boss Bat at the end of the Campaign mode.

Bat Batty Bats will launch this Thursday, 25th October for £2.99 USD on the Oculus Store. It’ll support mobile headsets Oculus Go and Samsung Gear VR. For any further updates from ROCCAT Games Studio keep reading VRFocus.

Going Up? Elevator… to the Moon! Arrives on the HTC Vive Floor

ROCCAT Games Studio maybe a fledgling endeavour of the gaming peripherals manufacturer with a small team of three,  releasing its first title Elevator… to the Moon! last month but that doesn’t mean their aspirations are small. With the initial launch supporting Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR, this week has also seen the virtual reality (VR) title make its way to Steam and HTC Vive.

The release on Steam was made possible thanks to a recent update which saw Elevator… to the Moon! add full roomscale support so players can select from traditional point-and-click or roomscale right from the title screen.

The comedic puzzle experience takes you on an adventure to the stars, where you play a space repairman. You’re tasked with fulfilling the ridiculous demands of President of the World, Doug Slater-Roccmeier who’s demanding that his broken space elevator is fixed. In doing so you’ll find all sorts of items to play with, some of which Slater-Roccmeier doesn’t exactly want you to find. As you complete puzzles and find new things the President will accordingly react and comment on your actions.

Helmed by Marc Barnes, with Carsten Busold as developer and Hannah Paulmann as the resident artist, Elevator… to the Moon! was created in a round 10 months, initially for Gear VR before work on the Oculus Rift version took place in parallel.

To ensure Elevator… to the Moon! isn’t just a single playthrough one trick pony the team made sure that after you’ve finished the storyline, there is a perplexing alternate ending to experience, many achievements to unlock and fun little secrets to be discovered.

To celebrate the launch of Elevator… to the Moon! on Steam there’s a limited time discount price available. Until 6th December you can pickup the title for $7.99 USD/ £5.75 GBP. After the offer has ended it’ll return to its regular price of $9.99/£7.19.

Elevator… to the Moon! Goes on Sale, New Update Adds Roomscale Support

Last month fledgling developer Roccat Games Studio – the independent spin-off of the gaming peripherals manufacturer – released its first virtual reality (VR) title for Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR, a comedic puzzle experience called  Elevator… to the Moon! Now the studio has announced the first update as well as a Black Friday discount.

The update is just for the Oculus Rift version of Elevator… to the Moon!, making it more immersive by adding full roomscale support. So now players can select from traditional point-and-click or roomscale right from the title screen.

The premise behind Elevator… to the Moon! is an adventure in which you play a space repairman.

Elevator… to the Moon! was created by a small team of three, Marc Barnes leading the project, Carsten Busold as developer and artist Hannah Paulmann. They managed to build the videogame in a round 10 months, initially for Gear VR then deciding to work on the Oculus Rift version in parallel as well, thus bringing more control features into the title.

The videogame will go on sale tomorrow for both headsets, selling for $4.95 USD on Oculus Rift with the Gear VR version  costing just $2.99. These prices will only be available until 27th November.

Looking at the future the team still have further plans for Elevator… to the Moon!, so expect more updates next year. Additionally, they’re working on a new, as yet unannounced project.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of Elevator… to the Moon! and Roccat Games Studio, reporting back with the latest updates.

Reach for the Stars as Elevator… To The Moon! Ascends onto Oculus Rift and Gear VR

With a flurry of new info from Oculus this week it’s more than likely that folks may have missed some of the new releases that happened – apart from Arktika.1. One of which came from ROCCAT Games with the studio’s first ever virtual reality (VR) release Elevator… To The Moon!

Elevator… to the Moon! is a comedic puzzle adventure in which you play a space repairman. You’re tasked with fulfilling the ridiculous demands of President of the World, Doug Slater-Roccmeier who’s demanding that his broken space elevator is fixed.

“Obey his increasingly goofy orders to the letter, disobey and cause hilarious havoc, or find your own sweet spot,” states ROCCAT Games’ description. “Each way of playing has its own advantages and outcomes. It’s up to you, intrepid elevator person, to blaze your own altitudinal path… to the moon!

Elevator… to the Moon! has been jointly release for Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR, retailing for £5.99 GBP and £3.99 respectively. For further updates on Elevator… to the Moon!, keep reading VRFocus.

ROCCAT Games Studio Unveil First VR Title Elevator… to the Moon!

Earlier this year gaming peripheral manufacturer ROCCAT created its own in-house videogame development team, with a team of 10 working on a non-virtual reality (VR) title called Sick City. For VR the studio has a team of three working on an Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR videogame called Elevator… to the Moon!

Elevator… to the Moon! is a comedic space repairman simulator in which players find themselves trapped in an underground facility. They soon find President of the World Doug Slater-Roccmeier shouting at them via intercom, demanding that his broken space elevator is fixed.

“The original idea of solving puzzles in a moon elevator built by a bossy president came not long after Google Cardboard was announced,” says Barnes. “That way you wouldn’t have to worry about tracking or complex inputs and the puzzles, and the environment would change as you ascended into space, said ROCCAT Game Director Marc Barnes on the Oculus blog. “Developing a Gear VR and Rift version in tandem is a challenge. Carsten and Hannah have worked hard to come up with some really creative solutions to support multiple controller types and a graphical style that translates strongly across both platforms.”

Elevator… to the Moon! will be released for Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR this October. For further updates on Elevator… to the Moon!, keep reading VRFocus.
