Two releases await PSVR owners this week. One’s a pretty standard horror game but the other is a unique take on a beloved genre that looks pretty promising.
If you missed last week’s releases then you can see them here. UploadVR has also launched the ‘UploadVR PSVR Community’ on PlayStation 4! Join up, find other gamers to play with, and engage in discussions with them.

The Lost Bear, by Odd Bug Studio
Price: $12.99
This is an interesting concept. The Lost Bear is a 2D platformer played in an immersive 3D environment. You play a young girl that goes in search of her lost toy. It looks charming and memorable and unlike anything we’ve seen on PSVR so far.
Recommendation: Definitely one to check out.
Don’t Knock Twice, by Wales Interactive
Price: $15.99
Wales Interactive delivers this week’s dose of VR horror. Cast as a guilt-ridden mother, you journey to save your daughter from a demonic witch. You’ll explore a massive house, interacting with objects to solve puzzles and progress further, with plenty of scares abound. The game stars Battlestar Galactica’s Katee Sackhoff.
Grab your PS Move controllers, pull on your PSVR headset, and get ready to sweat; CCP Games’ Sparc hits PSVR this week and it’s a great workout. There’s not much outside of that big new release, but there is one curious little oddity.

Sparc, from CCP Games
Price: $29.99
Sparc is CCP’s first game not set in its EVE universe and marks a huge departure for the company. It’s a VR eSport that’s an actual sport, getting players to step into Tron-like environments and compete in physical games that have you throwing discs at each other and more. It’s a great workout and a lot of fun.
Recommendation: If you like being active in VR this is one for you. Read our full review and tips guide for top-performance.
Sneaky Bears, from WarDucks
Price: $19.99
We’re not sure where sneaky bears came from but it certainly sounds… interesting? Evil teddy bears are coming to rule the world and you’ll have to take them out using a pair of toy guns. So, yeah, it’s a wave shooter.
Recommendation: Only for those not tired of wave shooting.
A hearty week of releases for PSVR this week. Zen Studios’ CastleStorm gets the console VR treatment for the first time, and there’s the next release from the team at Uber Entertainment.

CastleStorm VR Edition, from Zen Studios
Price: $14.99
The VR version of Zen Studios’ title makes its way from Rift and Gear over to PSVR. Two armies trade blows in mighty battles. Build up castles and watch them get torn out with Lego-like physics. Now you can do it all from inside a VR headset.
Dino Frontier, from Uber Entertainment
Price: $29.99
The developers of Wayward Sky return to PSVR with this town-building simulation set in the Wild West. Build out a settlement, take care of your townspeople, and defend them from incoming bandits until you can take out their king. Oh yeah, and there’s dinosaurs.
VRog, from ByteRockers Games
Price: £6.49 (EU Only)
VRog has been around on PC VR for a while, but we’re happy to see it get a PSVR port. Get across the pond, eating flies with your giant tongue. Watch out for approach birds that will want to scoop you up.
Recommendation: A fun distraction, if not much else.
This is one of the busiest weeks the PSVR has had in quite a while with over half a dozen new releases. There’s something for everyone, too, with single player, multiplayer, and even non-interactive narrative options to pass around.

Theseus, from Forge Reply
Price: $19.99
In this dark third-person adventure game you take on the role of the titular hero, Theseus, in a quest to slay the evil Minotaur. The camera is always in a fixed position like in Chronos as you explore, hide, and fight your way to the end.
Recommendation: There are some good ideas here, but it comes up lacking in most areas. Read our full review for more on why.
Apollo 11, from Immersive VR Education
Price: $11.99
This VR experience has been around for quite a while and is finally making its way over to PSVR. Join the historic crew of the very first moon landing in Apollo 11 as you witness history like never before.
Recommendation: Absolutely worth it for space and history buffs.
Monkey King, from Digital Domain
Price: $9.99
You’ve probably heard, read, or seen some form of the Monkey King story, popularized in the classic 16th century Chinese novel named Journey to the West. This take on the story lets you experience it all in VR as a front-and-center viewer of all the main plot points.
Recommendation: It’s purely passive and doesn’t do much we haven’t seen before, but the animations are fun.
Heroes of the Seven Seas, from Time of Virtual Reality
Price: $6.99 (Currently Discounted)
First released as a Gear VR game, Heroes of the Seven Seas puts you in a bunch of pirate-themed naval battles as you quest for bounty and adventure.
Recommendation: Not very good at all. Here’s our full review of the original Gear VR version.
Infinite Minigolf, from Zen Studios
Price: $14.99
Golf is one of the foundational video game sports that you’ll find on virtually every single gaming device on the planet. Infinite Minigolf brings a fun, lighthearted take on the genre to PSVR.
Recommendation: Surprising amount of fun and content here. Good online too.
Smashbox Arena, from Archiact
Price: $29.99
Dodgeball in VR, but with a ton of superpowers and crazy powerups that let you do stuff like throw meteor-sized balls and hold up energy shields. We know, it sounds a bit crazy, but it actually adds up to one of VR’s best multiplayer games.
Recommendation: Tons of fun, especially if you have a group of friends to play with. Here are some more thoughts on the original Vive version.
Tiny Trax, from FuturLab
Price: $19.99
Remember what it was like to race those electric cars around plastic tracks in your room, then never want to clean it all up after? Tiny Trax is kind of like that, but in VR. There are definitely some Blazerush vibes and the races can get very intense.
Recommendation: Tiny Trax is a great game for arcade-style racing fans, but is pretty tough to get the hang of. Read our full review for more.
If you’re looking for something new to do with your PlayStation VR, you’re in luck – the U.S. Air Force is releasing a new virtual reality (VR) experience just for you.
Known as Air Force Special Ops: Nightfall, the main objective of the videogame seems to be jumping from a plane, skydiving down to earth and pulling your parachute. There aren’t many screenshots right now, so all we know for sure is that players will be enjoying some seriously nice landscapes for thousands of feet in the air.
But of course the best part of the package has to be that it’s completely free from June 20th 2017. A PlayStation VR and Camera is required, of course, along with two PS Move controllers – but as long as you have all that equipment, you can enjoy some Air Force action for yourself.
Interesting to note is that the game is developed and paid for by the U.S. Air Force “for the purpose of marketing and recruitment.” On top of that, both Sony and the U.S. Air Force want to make clear on the product page that they don’t endorse each other whatsoever.
For the low, low price of free, it’s hard to turn down Air Force Special Ops: Nightfall. Even if it’s not any good, it doesn’t have stay on your hard drive for long.
Take a look at Air Force Special Ops: Nightfall on PSN. For everything else in the world of VR, stay onVRFocus.
Earning that platinum PlayStation trophy means the player dove deeper and fully mastered a game. Nier: Automata may shake things up a little bit by allowing players to purchase them with in-game currency.
Uh… still playing Resident Evil 7? Probably not; it’s not exactly the longest game ever. However, you might want to consider this week for that Madhouse difficulty run through you’ve been considering or to jump into the first DLC if you haven’t picked that up yet. Once again there’s really not much worth talking about this week, and we’re starting to think you might want to settle in for the long haul. There’s still Psychoanuts to come this month but, beyond that, we have no idea when the flow of PlayStation VR (PSVR) releases is really going to pick up again.
If you missed last week, you can see those new releases here. Also, UploadVR has launched the ‘UploadVR PS VR Community’ on PlayStation 4! Join up, find other gamers to play with, and engage in discussions with them.

VR Ping Pong, from Reddoll
Price: $14.99
Your sole PSVR release this week is this simple little take on ping pong, which plays out pretty much exactly how you’d expect. Use your Move controllers to wield your paddle and take on retro-style AI opponents in an area fit for an 8-bit king. Along with tournaments against the computer you can take on several minigame challenges that have you playing against yourself, avoiding parts of the table, and fine-tuning your aim. The only problem? There’s no multiplayer to speak of right now.
Recommendation: We gave it 6/10. We’d have no problem recommending this likable game if it wasn’t for the lack of multiplayer. Without it, you’re stuck facing computer opponents in repetitive matches. It’s fun and it works well, but the missed opportunity here is just too much to rate it higher. We’re sure someone will offer a great ping pong VR game with multiplayer on PSVR at some point, and you should probably wait for that.
