Over 5 Games Coming This Week for PlayStation VR Including Vacation Simulator

Last weeks Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) had a few exciting updates when it came to virtual reality (VR) news but there was a noticeable absence when it came to Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) and PlayStation VR. Well fear not, as the headset has a nice little lineup of titles coming this week.

Mini-Mech Mayhem

The popular headset has six videogames scheduled for release this week. For those after a beautiful fairytale there is Funomena’s Luna. An interactive, narrative-driven experience, the story focuses on a young bird enticed to eat the last piece of the waning Moon by mysterious Owl and is subsequently blown far from home. Players must untangle the bird’s memories, solving a sequence of celestial puzzles to unlock each level’s tree, plant and animal spirits. In doing so they can then plant and cultivate plants within terrariums, making them grow a flourish in a bid to bring life back to the moonless world.

For a more sci-fi vibe, there’s Mars Alive. Developed by Winking Entertainment, Mars Alive is a survival experience where you will have to monitor the status of your Oxygen, Food, Water and Temperature. You’ll be able to grow a variety of crops, controlling the temperature, humidity, and water alternately in the cabin as well as exploring the Martian landscape.

Mini-Mech Mayhem, on the other hand, is designed for some strategic multiplayer gaming. A comedy-infused tabletop battle experience, Mini-Mech Mayhem sees players take the form of robot avatars partnered with cute little mechs to battle opponents as a team. With both single-player and up to four-player online support, Mini-Mech Mayhem is very much like a colourful game of chess.

If you’re after something slightly different then there’s visual novel Project Lux by Spicy Tails. Originally due for release in 2018Project Lux tells the tale of a court trial set in a futuristic world where most humans have cyberbrains. On trial is an agent who coordinates with artists to create data for cyberbrains which can interact with people’s emotions. The victim is a girl artist named Lux, and the jury has to investigate what really happened by reliving the memory data of the defendant.

Already out for European players and coming to North America this week is Slum Ball. The videogame is a photorealistic physics-based paddle ball game with a creative twist – instead of a regular wooden bat, the player has a shabby flip flop and rather than slugging a ball, the player gets a beverage can to use as a ball.

Last on the list is probably the best known out of all the videogames arriving this week, Owlchemy Labs’ Vacation SimulatorLaunched for PC a couple of months ago, the title is a charming parody on taking time off from work. Set across three areas, a beach, forest and mountain, you’ll be able to engage in all sorts of activities to while away the hours.

All these titles will be available by Friday at the latest. For further PlayStation VR content updates, keep reading VRFocus.

Spice & Wolf VR Coming in 2019 from Project LUX Creator

There have been a few virtual reality (VR) visual novels produced, such as Square Enix’s Tales of Wedding Rings VRthe recently announced Tokyo Chronosand Project LUX. The latter was the work of Japanese studio SpicyTails which has just revealed its next project, Spice & Wolf VR.

Spotted by MoguraVR, the new VR project is based on a Japanese light novel series called Spice & Wolf, which then saw mange and anime adaptions. Details on the actual experience haven’t been released as yet but the original story follows a 25-year-old traveling merchant called Kraft Lawrence. After stopping in the town of Pasloe, he comes across a wolf-deity named Holo who is over 600 years old. Taking the form of a 15-year-old girl – except for a wolf’s tail and ears – she wants to join him so she can see the world and eventually return to her homeland.

Original series author Isuna Hasekura will be involved with the new project as well as anime voice actors Jun Fukuyama (Kraft) and Ami Koshimizu (Holo).

Currently, SpicyTails has confirmed that Spice & Wolf VR will support HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and other headsets (most likely PlayStation VR) when it arrives in early 2019.

Project Lux

To see what’s instore then it’s best to check out Project LUX. Designed as a new adventure specifically for VR, the experience takes place during a court trial set in a future where most humans have cyberbrains. On trial is an agent who coordinates with artists to create data for cyberbrains which can interact with people’s emotions. The victim is a girl artist named Lux, and the jury has to investigate what really happened by reliving the memory data of the defendant.

As production has just begun on Spice and Wolf VR, when SpicyTails reveal further details on the project, VRFocus will keep you updated.

Between The Virtual And Reality, Project LUX’s PlayStation VR Trailer Asks What The Truth Is

2018 is looking pretty rosy for virtual reality (VR) fans and especially so if you’re an owner of a PlayStation VR. Earlier this month at Playstation Experience 2017 (PSX) the Sony made headset popped up several times with new updates and announcements. And there’s already a growing number of videogames for PlayStation VR owners to look forward to.

Those include previously PC based first-person shooter (FPS) Killing Floor: Incursion, also adding PSVR to its supported headsets is Owlchemy Labs’ madcap team-up with Adult Swim Games, Rick And Morty: Virtual Rick-ality. Both underwater adventure Jupiter & Mars and First Contact Entertainment’s tactical FPS Firewall Zero Hour were revealed at PSX along with the confirmation that Wipeout Omega Collection would be getting a VR update in 2018. Other titles to look forward to include Smash Hit Plunder, sci-fi dinosaur adventure Eden Tomorrow and even the delayed mousey adventures of Moss.

One other title making the leap to PlayStation VR is Spicy Tails’ Project LUX. Initially an Early Access release on Steam in March earlier this year, the visual novel designed specifically for the VR medium and published Sekai Project originally supported just the HTC Vive on PC. However, as we reported earlier this week, Project LUX is indeed also now coming to console VR thanks in part to the positive response from that initial release.

Set in a futuristic civilisation where humanity has effectively ‘upgraded’ themselves, the story follows an artist called Lux who is the apparent victim of an agent who works with ‘cyber artists’ like Lux in creating experiences for those with augmented brains. Experiences that can affect your very emotions. But what is the truth? Truth is in the eye of the beholder – so you’ll have to delve into the memories of both Lux and the defendant in order to find it.

In line with the PlayStation VR announcement there’s also a trailer for the title, which you can see below.

There are five episodes of Project LUX but at this current time how they will be released on PlayStation VR is not known. When we have any further updates regarding this, or the PC version currently on Steam, VRFocus will update you.

Project LUX Illuminating PlayStation VR in 2018

Virtual reality (VR) visual novel Project Lux made its PC debut back in March of this year as a HTC Vive exclusive title, via Steam Early Access. Following a positive reception, publisher Sekai Project has today confirmed that Project Lux will be heading to the PlayStation 4 console with full PlayStation VR support next year.

Project Lux tells the tale of in a court trial set in a futuristic world where most humans have cyberbrains. On trial is an agent who coordinates with artists to create data for cyberbrains which can interact with people’s emotions. The victim is a girl artist named Lux, and the jury has to investigate what really happened by reliving the memory data of the defendant. In Project Lux, the player witnesses the action from the perspective of the agent as he interacts with Lux throughout these memories, living through the recollection and witnessing firsthand the emotions of the defendant. However, the twist comes when the memory data of the agent is also revealed.

Spicy Tail’s Project Lux was designed as a new adventure specifically for VR head-mounted displays (HMDs), and as such is supported by a very strong narrative. The developer has described the videogame as ‘story-oriented’, opposed to the studio’s more ‘experience-orientated’ works.

Project Lux will include all five episodes on PlayStation VR, featuring the voice talents of Aimi Tanaka as Lux and Teruaki Ogawa as the agent and character designs of illustrator Luna Tsukigami. While the HTC Vive edition of the videogame currently remains in Steam Early Access, there’s no current word on whether Sekai Project intend on releasing episodes progressively on PlayStation VR, or offering all from launch.

It is also worth noting that the Steam edition of Project Lux includes English, Chinese and Japanese language support as standard. It’s likely that this variety of options will also make its way to the PlayStation VR edition of the videogame.

Further details, such as price and a specific release date, are also not currently available. VRFocus will keep you updated with all the latest details on Project Lux however, and other forthcoming VR titles from Spicy Tail and Sekai Project.

VR Visual Novel Project Lux Get Release Date

Project Lux is a story-oriented virtual reality (VR) experience that is currently in Steam Early Access. Developer Spicy Tails and publisher Sekai Project have now announced when Project Lux will get its official launch.

Set in a distant future where humans have cybernetically-enhanced brains, an agent must relive the stored memories of a murdered girl to find out the truth. The title is divided into five episodes that follow the story of Lux, the artist who was the victim of murder. The central character of Lux is brought to life with motion capture performed by well-known Japanese voice actor Aimi Tanaka.

The story of the title was inspired by a book called “Kakuchō Suru Nō” (Expanding Brain) by Japanese author Dr. Naotaka Fujii. The developer described the VR experience as being ‘story-oriented’ as opposed to most VR experiences, which Spicy Tails say are more ‘experience-oriented’. The world of Project Lux is heavily inspired by Anime, with a style that in some places is reminiscent of works from Studio Ghibli.

Project Lux is set to get its full release on 31st of March for the HTC Vive. The game features voice-acting which is all in Japanese, but subtitles in English and Simplified Chinese are available.

A price point has not yet been set.

VRFocus will bring you further updates on Project Lux and other VR Early Access games when they come in.
