With three exciting Pokémon GO events coming up just around the corner the Pokémon Company and Niantic Labs has revealed a number of new global challenges for those unable to attend the upcoming events in person. These Professor Williow’s Global Challenges will give trainers around the world a chance to work together to complete a number of different tasks and unlock a range of different rewards.

Pokémon Go Summer Tour 2018

During the weekends of Pokémon GO‘s special live events, with the Pokémon GO Safari Zone, Dortmund, taking place this weekend June 30th until July 1st, players all around the world will be able to complete Field Research together. For the purpose of the challenges, the global community has been split into four different areas: the Americas; Europe, the Middle-East, and Africa; Asia-Pacific; and the main research site, which will be the location of the live event.

Each of these live events will have four different challenges that need to be completed by the global community which will each offer a different reward, with a bonus reward being unlocked if the four challenges are beaten. To make the offering a bit more sweet there is an ultra bonus reward that can be unlocked if all twelve challenges are completed and their respective bonus unlocked.

Pokémon GO’s Gifted Eggs Can Hatch Alolan Pokémon

Hot of the trial of the recently announcement and release of friends, gifts and trading making their way to Pokémon GO, developer Niantic Labs have confirmed that eggs received from gifts can hatch some of the newly added Alola Pokémon. This new Pokémon are often hard to come across but knowing there is a chance one could hatch from an egg increases the chance of trainers adding one to their collection.

Going live only a few days ago, the new friends and trading features have been long awaited additions to the popular augmented reality (AR) videogame. Offering players new ways to interact with each other and bringing the title closer to its mainline entry counterparts on other systems. When added as friends, which is done by exchanging friend-codes, trainers can then visit PokéStops to collect gifts and then send them to each other, with the chance of finding an egg when opened.

Confirming the news on Twitter, the official Pokémon GO account revealed that reports of Alolan Pokémon hatching from eggs that were gifted by another trainer were need correct. The image posted with the news features Alolan Meowth, Sandshrew and Vulpiz which have a chance to hatch from 7km eggs via the trading feature.

Niantic Reveal new Details for Pokémon Go Safari Zone Dortmund

Earlier this month VRFocus reported on Niantic Labs announcing several new events as part of the Pokémon GO Summer Tour 2018, one of which was the Pokémon GO Safari Zone at Dortmund. Today, further details about the event have been released.

The Pokémon GO Summer Tour 2018 will begin in Dortmund, Germany, at Westfalenpark, offering Pokémon trainers the chance to catch a wide variety of Pokémon, including some that do not often appear in Europe.

As one of the largest inner-city parks in Europe, Westfalenpark is ideally suited to Pokémon hunting, with elaborate water features, a Japanese garden, and large playgrounds for kids and families. To keep the creature count high Lure Modules will be activated all day on the PokéStops throughout the park, and special 2 km Eggs will be available when you spin their Photo Discs.

The activities aren’t just focused on the park, as Dortmund’s entire city district will be involved. Whilst there won’t be any raids or Gyms inside Westfalenpark, nearby areas will feature special locations for those keen to battle powerful Raid Bosses.

John Hanke, founder and CEO of Niantic, Inc. said in a statement: “We’re looking forward to celebrating the two year anniversary of Pokémon GO with fans and Trainers worldwide during the Pokémon GO Summer Tour 2018. The city of Dortmund has been an incredible partner in creating a one-of-a-kind experience for Trainers across Europe to play Pokémon GO together while experiencing the beauty of Westfalenpark and the city’s countless cultural highlights.”

There will also be a bunch of other stuff going on for when trainers want a break, with team-themed lounges, mobile phone charging stations, snacks and drinks, plus Pokémon GO giveaways.

“We are very happy to be part of such a special event. The City of Dortmund is used to host thousands of people from all over the world, and as one of the largest urban parks in Europe, the Westfalenpark is tailor-made for this occasion. Additionally, the residual city area of Dortmund offers way more than the in-game highlights. To everyone who is about to visit our historical city: have fun!,” added Thomas Westphal, CEO of Dortmund’s economy funding.

The event is free to enter and begins at 9am CET on Saturday, 30th June and Sunday, 1st July. At 12pm CET on both days, a special one-of-a-kind group photo will be taken of all Trainers in attendance. For any further Pokémon GO updates, keep reading VRFocus.
