Feed the Walking Dead on PlayStation VR as Dead Hungry Release Date Announced

Originally released for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive in 2016, Q-Games’ zombie feeding title Dead Hungry was officially confirmed to as an upcoming PlayStation VR experience last month. Today the studio has announced the launch date will be 24th October 2017.

Unlike most zombie filled videogames Dead Hungry isn’t about grabbing the closest weapon and popping a few heads. Instead it’s all centred around players having to make food for an ever increasing horde of ravenous walking dead.

So what do zombies like to eat? Well normally its brains or some unfortunate victims limb. In Dead Hungry it’s slightly less gruesome with players finding themselves in a takeaway food truck having to make burgers against the clock. While orders can contain ingredients like buns, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes and of course a generous helping of beef patties, players can get somewhat creative with their creations using whatever comes to hand. Cook up a decent meal and the zombies will even start to return to human form.

Q-Games hasn’t said how much Dead Hungry will be, but with a price on Steam of £14.99 GBP for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, expect it to be similar.

PixelJunk VR: Dead Hungry Coming To PlayStation VR

Developer Q-Games have announced this its virtual reality (VR) spin-off from the successful PixelJunk series, PixelJunk VR: Dead Hungry, will be heading to the PlayStation VR.

PixelJunk VR: Dead Hungry had previously been available on Steam for HTC vive and Oculus Rift. The title is a tongue-in-cheek action title where the player is in the role of a cook in a food truck, desperately cooking up meals to satisfy the appetites of an invading zombie horde. A well-cooked burger and fries can turn and angry zombie back into a normal, productive member of society as you watch. Zombie schoolgirls, sumo wrestlers and office works will all need to be fed to keep your brains off the menu.

Q-Games made its name with the PixelJunk series, which first appeared on the PlayStation 3, with titles such as PixelJunk Racer, PixelJunk Eden and PixelJunk Shooter becoming extremely popular and getting ported onto other systems, such as Windows, OS X, PSP and PlayStation Vita. PixelJunk VR: Dead Hungry is the first VR title in the PixelJunk series.

PixelJunk VR: Dead Hungry is controlled using the PlayStation Move controllers, with players picking up ingredients and completed meals to throw in the right direction to stave of the ravenous hordes.

A price point for the title has not yet been confirmed, but the HTC Vive/Oculus Rift version is priced at £14.99 (GBP) on Steam, so a similar price is to be expected. A release date is also yet to be confirmed.
