The Biggest HTC Vive Releases Of The Week 09/03/17

The Biggest HTC Vive Releases Of The Week 09/03/17

Can you hear that? Quiet, isn’t it? It’s a strangely slow week of releases for the Vive, but all that means is there’s a chance to catch your breath and maybe go back and play something you haven’t got to yet. If you’re desperate for something new, though, we’ve got you covered.

In the meantime, if you missed the previous iteration of this list, you can see those new releases here. And don’t forget that UploadVR has a Steam community group, complete with a curated list of recommendations so that you don’t have to waste any money finding out what’s good in the world of VR.

We also have a top list of the absolute best HTC Vive games — which is updated every few months with the latest and greatest options.

The Big Releases

Crashimals, by Rogue Earth
Price: $14.99

Blowing stuff up in any old videogame is fun, but in VR it’s even better. Crashimals looks a little like VR’s own take on Angry Birds; pilots jump into planes and attempt to take down structures with bombs, and you get to reveal in their demise. It’s a puzzle game at heart, controlled with motion controllers.

Recommendation: This looks like it could be a bit of fun.

Don’t Knock Twice, by Wales Interactive
Price: $15.99

Wales Interactive delivers this week’s dose of VR horror. Cast as a guilt-ridden mother, you journey to save your daughter from a demonic witch. You’ll explore a massive house, interacting with objects to solve puzzles and progress further, with plenty of scares abound. The game stars Battlestar Galactica’s Katee Sackhoff.

Recommendation: We weren’t so thrilled by Don’t Knock Twice.

The IOTA Project Demo, by DreamSail Games
Price: Free

The IOTA Project is only available as a demo right now, but we’d still recommend you pick it up, as it gets VR mech combat right. Explore a colorful sandbox and take down enemies in your giant war machine, swinging its arms using your motion controllers and activating attacks with in-game buttons. It’s a heck of a lot of fun.

Recommendation: Absolutely check this one out.

The Biggest PSVR Releases For The Week Of 08/27/17

The Biggest PSVR Releases For The Week Of 08/27/17

Grab your PS Move controllers, pull on your PSVR headset, and get ready to sweat; CCP Games’ Sparc hits PSVR this week and it’s a great workout. There’s not much outside of that big new release, but there is one curious little oddity.

If you missed last week’s releases then you can see them here. UploadVR has also launched the ‘UploadVR PSVR Community’ on PlayStation 4! Join up, find other gamers to play with, and engage in discussions with them.

Also, don’t forget to check out our list of the 9 Best PlayStation VR Games if you need any extra inspiration.

Sparc, from CCP Games
Price: $29.99

Sparc is CCP’s first game not set in its EVE universe and marks a huge departure for the company. It’s a VR eSport that’s an actual sport, getting players to step into Tron-like environments and compete in physical games that have you throwing discs at each other and more. It’s a great workout and a lot of fun.

Recommendation: If you like being active in VR this is one for you. Read our full review and tips guide for top-performance.

Sneaky Bears, from WarDucks
Price: $19.99

We’re not sure where sneaky bears came from but it certainly sounds… interesting? Evil teddy bears are coming to rule the world and you’ll have to take them out using a pair of toy guns. So, yeah, it’s a wave shooter.

Recommendation: Only for those not tired of wave shooting.

The Biggest HTC Vive Releases For The Week Of 08/27/17

Some great new releases hit Vive this week, including the Early Access launch of one of our most anticipated apps. So what are we waiting for? Let’s get to it.

Mindshow, from Mindshow
Price: Free

Out now in Early Access, Mindshow is one of the Vive’s most innovative and immediately entertaining apps. You’re given the tools to make fun short films by embodying characters, acting out, and then watching your actions in playback. This is a great tool for making compelling VR content.

Recommendation: This is unmissable. Grab it.

Prison Boss, from Trebuchet
Price: $19.99 (currently discounted)

This is a fun-looking trading and crafting game in which you grow a reputation inside prison by making items at night and taking jobs during the day. It’s a really cool idea and unlike anything else we’ve seen in VR.

Recommendation: Check this one out.

Cat Sorter VR, from Pawmigo Games
Price: $12.99 (Currently discounted)

Who wouldn’t want a job sorting cats? In this bizarre little game you have to separate defective cats from normal ones, and then rebuild some to become the perfect companions.

Recommendation: One for cat lovers for sure.

Blasters of the Universe, from SecretLocation
Price: $14.99 (Rift)

Long in development under Early Access, Blasters of the Universe is now a full game with a campaign in which you strive for high scores as you dodge enemy attacks in VR’s very own take on the bullet hell genre.

Recommendation: A great price for a solid game. Grab it.

Headmaster, from Frame Interactive Studio
Price: $19.99 (Rift)

One of PSVR’s best launch titles finally comes to PC VR headsets this week. At its heart Headmaster seems like a simple mini-game in which you hit balls with your head to hit targets. In reality, there’s an expansive and hilarious game here you should really check out.

Recommendation: Absolutely pick this one up, especially if you want a bit of a neck workout.

The Biggest Oculus Rift and Gear VR Releases For The Week Of 08/27/17

It’s a pretty quiet — but not dead — week in Oculus land. There are three notable releases on the Rift side and some interesting stuff for Gear VR. Let’s dive in, shall we?

If you missed the previous entry of this list you can see those new releases here. And don’t forget that UploadVR has a Steam community group, complete with a curated list of recommendations so that you don’t have to waste any money finding out what’s good in the world of VR.

Recommendation: Absolutely pick this one up if you want a bit of a neck workout.

ARK: Survival Evolved, from Studio Wildcard
Price: $59.99 (Rift)

The long-awaited full release of ARK takes places this week and it still has Oculus support intact, though we’ll warn that it’s not the most optimized experience. Still, you can explore a full world here and tame dinosaurs while you build structures and survive the wilderness.

Recommendation: You probably already have Ark if you’ve ever shown any interest in it, but if not, there’s a ton of content on offer.

Sea Hero VR, from Glitchers
Price: Free (Gear)

Sea Hero Quest is a really interesting project. It’s designed to tackle dementia by providing scientists with research data as you play. It provides insight into human navigation skills, the loss of which is one of the first signs of the disease. Just trying this out could provide a heap of data.

Recommendation: Absolutely play this, even if it’s just for a few minutes.

The Big Releases

Hangry Bunnies From Mars, from Studio 229
Price: $14.99

Here’s a new wave shooter that looks like it’s had a lot of time and effort poured into it. Hangry Bunnies has you blasting away vicious critters both big and small with crazy weaponry. It’s got an arcade influence that will have you chasing for high scores and playing again and again.

Recommendation: Shooter fans should snap this up.

Altar Show, from Altar Virtual Technologies
Price: Free

This is a pretty fascinating concept. Altar Show is a VR productivity app that tries to use the infinite possibilities of the tech to help you better remember things. You can create mind maps that expand all around you, make notes and more. It’s an Early Access release with plenty of promise.

Recommendation: Another interesting example of VR at work. Check it out.

Chroma Lab, from Sean Tann
Price: $4.99 (Rift, currently discounted)

This gorgeous VR particle physics sandbox looks absolutely incredible. Play with color like never before as you interact with thousands of tiny particles that you can bend and build to your choosing and then smash into glorious works of art. There might not be much game to it, as such, but we could see ourselves losing hours in it.

Recommendation: Definitely pick this one up.

Cosmic Awakening, from 3D Generation
Price: $24.99 (Rift, currently discounted)

Don’t worry horror fans, we haven’t forgotten you. Cosmic Awakening gives you this week’s dose of VR scares with a creepy adventure set on board a space ship. Search for your missing crew and uncover the mysteries of what happened as you fight for your life in this scary story.

The Biggest PSVR Releases For The Week Of 08/13/17

The Biggest PSVR Releases For The Week Of 08/13/17

Just one single release awaits you on PSVR this week (unless you count a demo for Starblood Arena). It’s a pretty big launch, but it’s yet another horror game, so it’s only for the bravest of the bunch. Don’t worry if that’s not you; there’s always next week. We’ll have a full review of it soon.

Paranormal Activity: The Lost Soul, from VRWERX
Price: $39.99 (Currently discounted)

The popular horror movie franchise makes its way to VR headsets for the first time. Paranormal Activity: The Lost Soul has been built from the ground up for VR and tells an original story in which you explore what at first seems to be an idyllic home in a neighborhood. It’s not long before things go wrong, though, and you find yourself up against the terror.

Recommendation: Only for those brave enough. The first time we saw it demoed a woman threw off her headset in terror.

The Biggest HTC Vive Releases For The Week Of 08/06/17

The Biggest HTC Vive Releases For The Week Of 08/06/17

Welcome back to the Vive list. It’s a pretty slow week here, but there’s still some great stuff worth your time, including the return of a beloved classic.

Rez Infinite, from Enhance Games
Price: $24.99 (Rift, currently discounted)

The classic rhythm action game finally makes a move from PSVR over to PC headsets. Rez Infinite allows you to play the entire original game inside VR for the first time, plus it included a new Area X mode that allows for free movement. This is a classic revived inside VR.

Recommendation: If you loved the original you have to try this out.

War Robots VR: The Skirmish, from Pixonic
Price: Free (Rift)

More well-polished mech action waits for you here. War Robots VR is a quick teaser of what the main series would look like inside of a headset. It’s not the longest VR experience and only uses gamepad, but it’s worth checking out for free.

Recommendation: Definitely give this one a look.

Let’s Bowl VR, from Rising Fun Games
Price: $17.99

Bowling might not be the most immediately obvious and requested VR activity, but we won’t complain if a polished version of the game hits headsets. Let’s Bowl VR looks like it’s up to snuff, even in Early Access mode.

Recommendation: Love to bowl? Well then this is a no-brainer.

Uploands Motel: VR Thriller, from Gurashop
Price: $7.99

A story driven escape room game is on offer here, and it looks pretty intriguing even if the visuals and voice acting sound a little basic. Still, there aren’t that many escape room games that seem to have genuine effort put into them.

Recommendation: Definitely worth a look.

Released on PSVR two weeks back, Archangel now makes its way over to PC VR systems. It’s an on-rails first-person shooter in which you command a giant mech, blowing up an enemy army with big explosions.

Gravity Sketch VR, from Gravity Sketch

The Biggest PSVR Releases For The Week Of 07/30/17

The Biggest PSVR Releases For The Week Of 07/30/17

A hearty week of releases for PSVR this week. Zen Studios’ CastleStorm gets the console VR treatment for the first time, and there’s the next release from the team at Uber Entertainment.

CastleStorm VR Edition, from Zen Studios
Price: $14.99

The VR version of Zen Studios’ title makes its way from Rift and Gear over to PSVR. Two armies trade blows in mighty battles. Build up castles and watch them get torn out with Lego-like physics. Now you can do it all from inside a VR headset.

Recommendation: If you’re a CastleStorm fan already then this is a treat. However, the VR version doesn’t feel like a huge upgrade.

Dino Frontier, from Uber Entertainment
Price: $29.99

The developers of Wayward Sky return to PSVR with this town-building simulation set in the Wild West. Build out a settlement, take care of your townspeople, and defend them from incoming bandits until you can take out their king. Oh yeah, and there’s dinosaurs.

Recommendation: Dino Frontier has a charming concept but it’s too light on depth and content.

VRog, from ByteRockers Games
Price: £6.49 (EU Only)

VRog has been around on PC VR for a while, but we’re happy to see it get a PSVR port. Get across the pond, eating flies with your giant tongue. Watch out for approach birds that will want to scoop you up.

Recommendation: A fun distraction, if not much else.
