Bundle Stars Latest Offer Includes VR Games

Official videogame discount service Bundle Stars is offering a new Steam bundle called the Dominator Bundle that includes two virtual reality (VR) games as part of the package.

The bundle has three tiers. The first costs only £1 (GBP) and contains VR-compatible title Euclidian, an endless falling game which the developer describes as “A Game of Geometric Horror.”
The title has three difficulty levels Hard, Nightmarish and Impossible and nine stages. Euclidian supports the Oculus Rift and includes 3D binaural sound for increased immersion.

Tier 1 also includes non-VR games JumpJet Rex, Voice & Meddler and 10 Second Ninja X.

Tier 2 costs £4.79 (GBP) and includes Nevermind, a horror title that includes VR support in addition to its main feature, which is the integration of bio-feedback as a central gameplay mechanic. Nevermind can link with wearable technology such as the AppleWatch to sense heart-rate, changes in which will affect the game environment. The game can be played without the heart sensor, in which case the game will use other methods such as eye-tracking to determine the player’s current stress level and react accordingly.

Tier 3 costs £9.59 (GBP) and includes 8-Bit Armies, plus its soundtrack and Guardians Campaign DLC pack. Tier 4 costs £14.39 and adds popular multiplayer car football game Rocket League to the bundle.

All higher tiers include all games in the tiers below it.

Flying Mollusk Adds HTC Vive Support to Psychological Thriller Nevermind

Last month Flying Mollosk launched virtual reality (VR) support for its psychological thriller Nevermind on Oculus Rift. Today the studio has announced a major update to the title on Steam, bringing with it support for the HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD).

Along with compatibility for HTC Vive, the new update also adds new content and a big visual upgrade. Flying Mollosk two new levels, Client #440 and Client #909 to expand the gameplay, and all the earlier content has been remastered to look better.

There are a couple of cravats with the HTC Vive support however which the developer notes: “There are a couple of known issues with playing Nevermind on the Vive. 1.) During some scene loads, the game will fade away and the standard SteamVR “VR Room” will briefly appear. 2.) If you launch the game with both controllers on and then turn a controller off mid-game, you may experience odd behavior when interacting with an object. If this occurs, either turn the second controller back on and continue playing with it on OR quit the game and restart it with only one controller on. We are working on resolving those issues and will post an update as soon as they’re resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience in the meantime.”

Nevermind is a biofeedback-enhanced psychological thriller that delves into the subconscious minds of psychological trauma victims. Compatible with certain heart rate monitors, the videogame uses the sensor to detect a players feeling of fear and anxiety to alter the experience. If they let their fears get the best of them, players will find the game becomes harder. Likewise if players are able to calm themselves in the face of terror, the game will become more forgiving. Nevermind can still be played with the additional sensor.

Steam is also offering a massive 75 percent discount on Nevermind for a limited time. Gamers can pick up the title for £3.74 GBP rather than £14.99 until 29th, November 2016.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of Nevermind, reporting back with any further announcements.

Don’t Let Your Fear Control You as Nevermind Arrives on Oculus Home

When Flying Mollosk launched its psychological horror title Nevermind back in September 2015 the title also supported the Oculus Rift Development Kit (DK2). Since the launch of the consumer version of the head-mounted display (HMD) in March, and the arrival of Oculus Home the experience hasn’t been available. Today the studio has now made that happen.

Nevermind takes players into the dark and surreal world within the subconscious minds of psychological trauma victims. One of its main features is the use of a biofeedback sensor. The sensor is only optional and isn’t needed to play the videogame, but if players do use one it’ll monitor their feelings of fear, tension and anxiety with each passing moment. If they let their fears get the best of them, players will find the game becomes harder. Likewise if players are able to calm themselves in the face of terror, the game will become more forgiving.

As well as the Oculus Home announcement the studio has now updated the title to support the Apple Watch. Support for the device had been revealed back in March along with the Tobii EyeX controller, and now owners of the watch can use it as their biofeedback sensor.

Available now, Nevermind can be downloaded through Oculus Home for £14.99 GBP, and for all the latest Oculus Rift releases keep reading VRFocus.
