The VR Game Launch Roundup: Dolls, Bows & Cosmonauts

VR Game Roundup

It seems that recently, virtual reality (VR) titles have either been sporadically launching or simply dropping last minute, which has meant this is VRFocus‘ first roundup of upcoming videogames this month. As usual, here are five new VR experiences you may not want to miss.

Watch: VR Adventure Naau: The Lost Eye Hits Early Access This Month

Naau: The Lost Eye, one of the games we featured at last year’s Upload Summer Showcase, launches in Steam Early Access very soon.

The VR adventure game arrives on February 25th, and there’s a promising new trailer to prove it. In Naau, players explore the titular world, fighting fantastical enemies and solving puzzles.

The trailer above shows an encouraging variety of enemy types and gameplay styles, including tired and true VR bow and arrow combat. There’s also a boomerang (do we detect a hint of Zelda?) and crossbow along with some light platforming and even some Boneworks-style enemy encounters with critters that leap at you and can be grabbed and tossed. Magic will also play a part, allowing players to cast fireballs and more.

As for locomotion, the game will offer both teleport and smooth-based options. All-in-all it looks like there could be a lot to this one, but we haven’t gone hands-on to check it out ourselves just yet.

Developer Gamebit anticipates keeping Naau in Early Access for about two to four months. This release is said to be in a “near-finished” state, with some final polish needed to boss encounters and other elements. The final version will also include more content, though it’s not clear what’s to be added at this point in time.

There’s also no word yet on possible PSVR and Quest releases but, on Steam, Naau will support Index, Rift and Vive. Will you be checking the game out? Let us know in the comments below!

Fantasy Open-World Puzzler Naau: The Lost Eye Coming in 2020

This year has proven to be a good one for virtual reality (VR) content and 2020 is looking just as exciting. Currently in development by Turkish indie team Studio Gamebit is Naau: The Lost Eye, a fantasy-based puzzle experience which could be one of VR’s surprise hits.

Naau: The Lost Eye

Having been in development from the past couple of years, Naau: The Lost Eye will be the teams first VR title, an open-world adventure mixing both puzzle and combat elements. A mystical world where players will have to traverse varied terrain, from steep and rugged canyons and dark subterranean metropolises to cities in the sky, from the screenshots released so far Studio Gamebit is creating a beautiful world to explore.

Gameplay is design to effectively use VR’s immersive qualities, from interacting with the puzzles to fighting the assortment of enemies. Players will have access to both weapons and magical abilities, wielding fireballs and magical stones, using boomerangs and flower guns or simply finding whatever may be laying around. Players will need to learn these combat skills quickly as they’ll need to fight Battle Wizards, Obsidian Golems, a variety of Giant Flowers, Spider Flowers, Poisonous Flowers, Flying Fish and much more.

The studio wants to make sure that all players feel comfortable in Naau: The Lost Eye so a number of locomotion options will be available. Teleportation and Dash Teleportation for those that need maximum comfort and Free Locomotion for those that can handle it.

Naau: The Lost Eye

Due to be released via Steam Early Access the team state that: ““Half of the game is playable and is polished to a nearly-finished state up to a certain point in the game’s progression. Past that point game elements are a bit less polished.”

Naau: The Lost Eye is scheduled for release in 2020 for Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Windows Mixed Reality and Valve Index headsets. As Studio Gamebit release further details ahead of launch VRFocus will keep you updated.

‘Naau: The Lost Eye’ is an Intriguing PC VR Action-Adventure Coming in February

It’s been a while since we heard about Studio Gamebit’s upcoming VR action-adventure game Naau: The Lost Eye, which the Turkey-based studio first teased back in September 2019. The studio now says its debut PC VR title is launching into Early Access in late February.

Update (February 12th, 2021): Naau: The Lost Eye is releasing on Steam Early Access on February 25th, 2021. The studio also tossed out a new trailer, which we linked below.

Original Article (September 12th, 2019): Naau: The Lost Eye is a narrative-driven action-adventure game (built exclusively for VR) that puts emphasis not only on using magical powers, but also hand-to-hand combat with a variety of weapons, special abilities, and combat techniques.

On its Steam page, the game is said to support Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Valve Index, and Windows VR headsets; Naau is slated to launch sometime of Spring next year (see update).

From what we’ve seen in the teaser trailer and the studio’s dev vlogs, Naau is sporting a pretty fresh art style that looks to come with a good measure of intrigue.

GameBit is currently taking signups for Naau beta access. You can sign up here.
