Go US West Coast Fishing in Real VR Fishing’s Upcoming DLC

Real VR Fishing US DLC

MirageSoft’s Real VR Fishing has provided Meta Quest owners with a realistic simulator for the past couple of years and in a couple of weeks, players will be able to make it a whole lot bigger. The studio is set to release its first DLC, taking fishing fans to the west coast of America, providing new locations, fish species and more.

Real VR Fishing US DLC

The Real VR Fishing US West DLC will be the first time the videogame will offer locations outside of South Korea, with a total of 20 new locations to enjoy. These are split between real-world freshwater and saltwater locations, such as Yosemite Park, Bay Bridge and the Grand Canyon. And with Real VR Fishing’s multiplayer mode you can be joined by friends and family, all relaxing next to calm blue waters.

New locations mean new fish to catch, 76 in fact, 36 freshwater species including Green sturgeon, Northern pike, and Tiger Muskie; while saltwater species include Great White shark, Sixgill Shark, and Pacific SailFish. So there are plenty of challenging catches to be had.

The DLC will also add a world map to switch between locations and see the introduction of a fishing level system for the US locations. “Players raise their level for the US West as if they are starting the Real VR Fishing for the first time,” the team explains.

Real VR Fishing US DLC

“US West DLC is not only a map extension but also a new starting point for Real VR Fishing,” said MirageSoft in a statement. “The goal of Real VR Fishing is to allow players to fish in all fishing spots around the world. The US West DLC is the first footprint for this project.”

Oculus Quest’s Real VR Fishing Year 2 Edition Update Lands in October

Real VR Fishing

When it comes to catching a few aquatic creatures on Oculus Quest, MirageSoft’s Real VR Fishing ticks all the boxes, offering a chilled-out experience either solo or with friends. Today, the studio has announced its next major update for the fishing simulator is set to arrive in October, improving the mechanics whilst adding new features.

Called the “Year 2 Update”, it should make the whole experience that bit more realistic with one of the main additions being the ability to provide depth of water variables. This means each fishing location will provide various water depths, with different fish residing at each level. All of this has been designed around real-world data, so each species will be more actually represented.

This ties into the improved fishing mechanic where anglers will be able to play with float fishing for the first time, selecting the depth of the live bait prior to casting. Lure fishing has also been refined with the ability to reel and twitch lures to attract fish with some newly detailed lures.

Other enhancements include a reworked store to be more user friendly, better tutorials and improve audio to ensure and immersive experience.

Real VR Fishing is Getting Social, Adds Multiplayer Update for Oculus Quest in August

Real VR Fishing

When it comes to realistic fishing on Oculus Quest your only choice is Miragesoft’s Real VR Fishing but it is a solitary experience. That’s about to change as the developer has announced a multiplayer update for the standalone headset due to arrive next week.

Real VR Fishing

Called the ‘Together Edition’ update, for the first time the videogame will allow up to four players to enjoy some tranquil surroundings and cast a line together. Players will be able to select from real-world fishing spots, customise their avatars as well as buying new boats before heading out.

Of course, a multiplayer wouldn’t be any good without conversation so Real VR Fishing will include voice chat options to enable that social spirit.

Here’s the full list of features in the ‘Together Edition’ update:

Multiplayer

  • Up to 4 players available in one room
  • Choose multiplayer server via region
  • Create or join in a room from “Multiplayer” Menu on the TV screen
  • Host will decide which location to visit for all the users in the same room.
  • See other players information (Name, Type of fish caught)
  • Add friends from the Multiplayer menu.

Voice-chat

  • Voice chat automatically activated when users enters a room.
  • Voice Chat option “Push to Talk” available from the Menu.
  • When the other player is talking, their name will be highlighted in yellow

Avatar Customization

  • Room on the right side of your TV screen to customize the avatar.
  • Fishing Equipment you have purchased are displayed in the character customizing room.

Extra features

  • Renovation of the exterior Lodge design. Access to outside the Lodge is enabled
  • Can bring up a camera and take a screenshot and selfie, and holding camera with the users hand
Real VR Fishing

The ‘Together Edition’ update will go live on 6th August 2020 for Oculus Quest. As yet there’s no date for the Oculus Rift version. A Steam version is currently listed for release on 30th November 2020.

As further details for Real VR Fishing are released, VRFocus will keep you updated.

Real VR Fishing Brings Stunning Environments To Quest Next Month

When it comes to virtual fishing, I’m more of a Bait! guy than a simulator lover. Real VR Fishing is set to strike a nice balance between the two when it launches on Quest next month.

Developer MirageSoft recently confirmed to Upload that its mobile VR fishing game will make the jump to the Oculus standalone on September 12th. Real VR Fishing is already available on Go, where it’s proven quite popular. On Quest, though, players will benefit from full six degrees of freedom (6DOF) controls. That means more realistic casting and reeling.

I’ve tried a handful of levels from the Quest port and, though I’m no big fan of the sport, I was pretty impressed. Real VR Fishing uses photogrammetry to reproduce real-world locations across South Korea with stunning results. Check out some of the gameplay I captured below.

The Reel Deal

It’s simple to get the hang of, too. While casting your line and reeling it in works as you’d expect, the game gives you helpful indicators for actually catching fish. A pair of virtual AR glasses (meta, I know) show you where fish are and how rare they might be. When fighting to bring one in, you’ll occasionally need to pull your fishing rod to one side or another, all while managing a meter as you reel.

Harder fishes will be trickier to catch, but the game also has three difficulty modes that will reduce the help indicators you get too. I have no idea how you’re meant to fish at night time, but anyone that wants to slip on a Quest, take a seat and sip a beer won’t be pushed to play faster or anything like that.

For each catch, you’ll be able to choose between keeping it for money or releasing it for experience points. The latter gradually unlocks new stages while the former lets you buy more equipment.

Real VR Fishing will launch with 15 lakes and rivers. Again, they’re all from South Korea, but the chance to explore a bunch of spots around the country is pretty compelling. As you play, you’ll be able to build up a home environment with your own decorations. That includes an aquarium that you can populate with your prizes.
