PSVR Gaming Bundle ‘HeroCade’ Available This Month in Europe, Australia & New Zealand

HeroCade is a compilation of nine VR games for PlayStationVR, and while it’s already been out in North America since earlier this year, European countries will finally able to buy the cheap and cheerful game pack this month, which features a number of VR favorites previously available only Samsung Gear VR and PC VR platforms.

Launching in France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Portugal, UK, Australia, and New Zealand on September 26th, HeroCade offers and interesting mix of genres, recalling memories of the old PlayStation demo discs from the PS1 era. Dreadhalls alone is definitely worth the €12 price tag (or regional equivalent), making for an easy buy for anyone looking for a swath of games with at least one surefire winner in the bunch.

Updated: Lucid Sight Announces Upcoming Title Star Drive VR Coaster

The Los Angeles-based studio behind such titles as Poly Runner VR, Gumi No Yume and Space Bit Attack have returned with a new announcement for an upcoming Samsung Gear VR title named Star Drive VR Coaster.

With a theme reminiscent of virtual reality (VR) roller coaster Galactica at Alton Towers, Star Drive VR Coaster takes players on an intergalactic trip through the stars on a high-speed space roller coaster.

The experience is procedurally generated so each trip the player takes will be slightly different each time. There are five main environments that represent exotic galactic points of interest, such as the gas mining city of Nimbus which takes clear inspiration from the planet of Bespin from the Star Wars universe. There is also the corona of Epsilon Eridani and a view of a huge ongoing space battle.

The developers are offering multiple different ‘comfort levels’ for VR users to choose from, presumably so those who experience dizziness or motion sickness issues can dial down the experience to not trigger symptoms.

Lucid Sight are well experienced with VR development, and have released titles on the Gear VR, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive since the studio was formed in 2015 with the aim of producing VR content.

The full experience of Star Drive VR Coaster will be available for $1.99 (USD) through the Oculus Store for users of Samsung Gear VR. The full experience is expected to be released on 10th May, 2017. A trailer video is available to view below.

VRFocus will bring you further information on Star Drive VR Coaster and other upcoming Gear VR titles when it becomes available.

Update: The original version of this article stated that Star Drive VR coaster would be free upon release. This information was in error and the correct price of $1.99 is now stated within the article.

‘Dreadhalls’ And ‘Sisters’ Included In $15 9-Game ‘HeroCade’ Collection For PS VR

‘Dreadhalls’ And ‘Sisters’ Included In $15 9-Game ‘HeroCade’ Collection For PS VR

Two of VR’s scariest games, Dreadhalls and Sisters, are finally coming to PlayStation VR in the 9-game bundle collection, HeroCade. The package is being published by Lucid Sight, a development studio that’s responsible for seven of the nine games included in the collection.

Lucid Sight’s six existing titlesPolyRunner VR, 405 Road Rage, Zombie Strike, Space Bit Attack, Gumi No Yumi, and Alpha Turkey Hunt — are all included, as well as a brand new title the studio is creating specifically for this bundle, Jurassic Survival. Additionally, Dreadhalls from White Door Games and Sisters from Otherworld Interactive are included as well. The entire collection will only cost $15.

While the offering of a whopping seven games is significant on the part of Lucid Sight, as well as their organizing of the entire bundle, there’s no denying the fact that the standout titles in this collection are undoubtedly the two horror offerings in Dreadhalls and Sisters. Dreadhalls was an honorable mention at one of the Oculus VR Jams and won Best Sound Design at this year’s Proto Awards. Additionally, Sisters was featured as a 2016 New Frontier Selection at Sundance. They’re two of the best games VR has seen thus far, across multiple formats and platforms.

HeroCade will work as a hub experience that a player will launch and then access any of the nine games from within the world itself — similar to five-game setup of PlayStation VR Worlds. What’s surprising is that the entire bundle will not only be available for just 15 on PS VR as a digital download, but it’s also expected to only come in at roughly 4GB for everything. All of these games except for Jurassic Survival, are ports, but it’s still a notable collection at a great price.

With the inclusion of Dreadhalls and Sisters now, the PS VR is quickly becoming the go-to destination for quality VR horror experiences. Until Dawn: Rush of Blood was one of the best launch titles, Here They Lie delivers on a haunting premise, Weeping Doll is short but harrowing, and the upcoming release of Resident Evil 7 next month will mark one of the biggest full titles the entire VR industry has seen thus far.

There is no definitive release date yet, but Lucid Sight is aiming for January 2017. You can find out more information at the official website.

“This is a monumental feat in VR,” said Randy Saaf, CEO and Co-founder at Lucid Sight. “We are tracking to have 150,000 active Oculus users in October, and Oculus Just announced at OC3 that they are doing 1,000,000 users per month.”
