XR Live Streaming Platform VRJAM Unveils Beta Technology

As part of London Tech Week, the Createch 2019 conference is being hosted by the Creative Industries Council to celebrate both the creative and technology sectors. For the conference, VRJAM has unveiled its beta live streaming technology for virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) on mobile devices.

Designed as a real-time, performance platform for content creators to create and share live, interactive shows for fans across the world, VRJAM’s technology was developed in consultation with Google.

The system works by supplying real-time motion capture, video streaming and audio streaming to provide a life-like simulation. This all takes place inside dynamic VR environments which can be changed to suit the content, from a club atmosphere where you can jump in the booth with the DJ to something a little more unusual.

“We’ve developed a technology which is set to be a game-changer for the way XR content can be shared. Our cutting-edge platform provides an unrivalled, immersive way for content to be enjoyed which is simply breathtaking,” said Sam Speaight, CEO and Founder of VRJAM, in a statement. “By using innovative fast 5G streaming technology, global audiences will be able to tune in to their favourite artist or event, to experience it like never before, digitally reimagined. We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve created and we’re sure this will disrupt the industry.”

Fans and artists can co-exist as avatars in the same space, interacting with each other as a social experience. While music will be a core part of the VRJAM platform, the solution is designed for any event such as sports events, live events, through to business events, conferences and much more. To demonstrate this, three hours of the speaker itinerary for the Createch 2019 conference will be live streamed via VRJAM’s platform for users to tune into.

Developed over two years, users can either log into VRJAM using a VR headset or an Android smartphone, downloading the app which will be available from Google Play Store. Headsets confirmed include Google Daydream, Oculus Rift, Oculus Go, Samsung Gear VR and HTC Vive. As VRJAM continues to be developed VRFocus will keep you updated with the latest announcements.

StarVR and ZeroLight Showcase New Innovations At London Tech Week

Virtual reality (VR) headset manufacturer StarVR has announced a new partnership with automotive visualisation company ZeroLight and are planning to demonstrate new technology innovations coming from the partnership at VR & AR World, part of London Tech Week.

Part of the demonstration planned by StarVR and ZeroLight will involve an ultra-high definition automotive VR experience and a talk by ZeroLight’s Chief Marketing Officer, Francois de Bodinat and StarVR’s Guillaume Gourard on impact and perceptions of premium commercial VR technology.

“Quality and innovation are the foundation upon which we build our experiences.” says Francois de Bodinat, Chief Marketing Officer at ZeroLight. “The team at Starbreeze and Acer have delivered a headset with a display that can deliver truly high-definition content such as ours, taking the medium forward within enterprise.”

“With StarVR we’re focusing on facilitating premium commercial content creators like ZeroLight with a truly high definition HMD that showcases the full potential of their experiences, inspiring the future of enterprise in VR. We’re excited to be showing the latest R&D with a partner that is powering forward thinking retail concepts within the automotive space.” said Guillaume Gouraud.

World of Warships to Launch Virtually Inside HMS Cavalier for London Tech Week

Wargaming.net, the developer behind World of Tanks and World of Warships, has announced a partnership with Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust and Ballista Media, as well as Google Arts & Culture, on a virtual reality (VR) experience called Virtually Inside HMS Cavalier.

An immersive exploration of the last of the British Royal Navy C-class WWII destroyers, the developer will be holding a launch event at Google’s new building at King’s Cross, for the beginning of London Tech Week, starting on 12th June.

The event will feature a selection of guest speakers, including: Dan Snow, historian and TV presenter; Richard Cutland, Wargaming military adviser; Tracy Spaight, Director of Wargaming special project division; and Admiral Sir Trevor Alan Soar, former Commander-in-Chief of the Fleet of the Royal Navy and now Chairman of the Chatham Dockyard museum.

“The 360 VR project on HMS Cavalier is a natural next step in our mission to bring naval heritage alive for global audiences using new media,” explains Spaight in a statement. “Through the use of VR 360 video on the Google Arts & Culture platform, we can take our audience places that not even on-site visitors can go. Exploring the ship in this way leads to a deeper appreciation for the speed and power of these vessels – and the courage of those who served on them.”

Snow and Cutland will showcase a mixed reality (MR) exploration of off-limits areas like the ship’s Engine Room. While online viewers will be able to experience the ship from Wargaming.net’s VR drone and watch as load one of the ship’s six inch deck guns is loaded with HMS Cavalier veteran and author Barry Krell.  The experience will then be available on Google Arts & Culture web portal, mobile app, and will be fully compatible with Google Cardboard headsets.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of Wargaming.net, reporting back with its latest VR related experiences.
