The Official Launch Trailer for Jupiter & Mars on PlayStation VR has Arrived

There barely seems to be a month that goes by without PlayStation VR having some decent videogame launches to choose from. April is no exception with Falcon Age now available and Ghost Giant set to arrive on PlayStation Store tomorrow. If those weren’t enough then there’s always Jupiter & Mars next week, which has just had the official launch trailer make a splash.

Jupiter and Mars Bit Awards

With the trailer looking like a mix between Ecco the Dolphin and Rez Infinite, the rather gorgeous looking Jupiter & Mars is a virtual reality (VR) experience with morals. An underwater puzzle adventure, you play two bottlenose dolphins named Jupiter and Mars who have been tasked by an ancient and powerful race of whales called the Elders to help restore life back to the oceans.

Set in a future where mankind has been wiped out, all that’s left is humanity’s mechanical creations littering the ocean world. The dolphins need to shut down a global network of semi-functioning bases and machines that are disrupting sea life, by exploring five distinct biomes, from tropical islands to sunken underwater cities.

To succeed you’ll need to harness both of their unique abilities to solve the puzzles and challenges the ocean has to offer. Jupiter happens to have enhanced echolocation powers to see in the darkest depths and even through solid objects, while Mars is the muscle, with a ram ability that’s handy for busting open walls or looking for secrets in oyster shells.

Jupiter and Mars Bit Awards

Developer Tigerton will be releasing Jupiter & Mars next Monday, 22nd April which just so happens to be Earth Day. If you’ve not heard of it before, Earth Day is an annual movement first started in 1970 where events are held worldwide to support environmental protection. It’s also why Tigertron developed Jupiter & Mars in partnership with ocean organizations SeaLegacy and The Ocean Foundation, who have helpfully provided the videogame with exclusive content.

Check out the launch trailer below, or follow this link if you didn’t see the story trailer which arrived a couple of months ago. VRFocus will continue its coverage of Jupiter & Mars, reporting back with any further announcements as launch day approaches.

All the PlayStation VR Videogame Release Date’s from Sony’s State of Play Broadcast

To kick off the first State of Play programme Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) had quite the virtual reality (VR) show to put on, with a myriad of videogame announcements almost purely focused on PlayStation VR. It all went by in quite a burr of videos, dates and information, so VRFocus has collated it all together.

Falcon Age

It certainly looks like a good year for PlayStation VR owners, with 12 titles confirmed for this year, from brand new ones like Iron Man VR to videogames that have been teased for years like No Man’s Sky.

PlayStation VR dates:

  • Mini-Mech Mayhem – 18th June 2019
  • Jupiter & Mars – 22nd April 2019
  • Falcon Age – 9th April 2019
  • Trover Saves the Universe – 31st May 2019
  • Everybody’s Golf VR – 21st May 2019
  • Table of Tales – 16th April 2019
  • Vacation Simulator – 18th June 2019
  • Blood & Truth – 28th May 2019

Other Titles Announced:

Trover Saves the Universe

PlayStation VR fans have been waiting quite a while for some of those dates, such as London Studios’ seedy dive into the criminal underworld with Blood & Truth, or for something a little lighter there’s always Owlchemy Labs’ Vacation Simulator which is coming to PC VR headsets first next month.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of PlayStation VR and all of its latest videogames, reporting back with new updates.

Jupiter & Mars Brings Trippy Ecco The Dolphin Vibes To PSVR This April

Jupiter & Mars Brings Trippy Ecco The Dolphin Vibes To PSVR This April

Jupiter & Mars is really giving us some strong Ecco the Dolphin vibes, which is a very good thing. Today, during the State of Play livestream, PlayStation announced Jupiter & Mars from Tiger Tron is set to make its debut on PSVR this April 22nd, 2019. Yep, that’s less than a month away.

We still don’t know a ton about this game yet, but that’s probably by design. It’s got a very bright, colorful, and frankly trippy vibe that really feels at home inside a PSVR headset — although you can play it on your TV without a PSVR as well.

According to the official PSN store page:

Jupiter & Mars is an underwater adventure set in a future-Earth in which everything science warned us about has come to pass: sea levels have risen from melting ice caps and climate change. As a result, the coastal cities are all but completely submerged. Since man’s disappearance, the oceans have begun to reclaim themselves, with coral and nearly extinct creatures returning to their once-thriving levels. But the artifacts of man’s once-formidable presence still remain, and an elite race of whales known as the Elders enlist Jupiter and Mars to help neutralize a global network of semi-functioning bases and  machines that are disrupting sea life. Along the way, Jupiter and Mars will meet legendary creatures, perform incredible feats, and maybe even live to tell the tale. Jupiter & Mars is being developed in partnership with acclaimed ocean organizations SeaLegacy and The Ocean Foundation, who are providing the game with exclusive content.

If you were a fan of games like Rez Infinite, Tetris Effect, or anything with that sort of esoteric feeling, including the likes of Journey and Abzu, then this is probably the game for you. Don’t expect a ton of action or overtly explicit storytelling, but this should still wind up being a quite immersive experience.

Underwater Adventure ‘Jupiter & Mars’ Coming to PS4 & PSVR Spring 2019, New Trailer Here

Tigertron, a New York City-based indie developer, announced that their upcoming single-player adventure game Jupiter & Mars is heading to PS4 and PSVR in Spring 2019.

First teased at E3 last year, the game is said to take place in a neon-soaked future world populated by intelligent sea life such as the Earth’s ‘elder whales,’ an ancient race of whales that enlist two bottlenose dolphins to help restore the oceans from disruptive and damaging pollution emanating from man-made machines.

In the game, the player controls Jupiter, a dolphin with enhanced echolocation powers that travels around the world with AI companion Mars to disable the machines disrupting marine life, all the while solving puzzles and encountering mysterious sea creatures along the way.

Jupiter & Mars is being developed in partnership with ocean conservation organizations SeaLegacy and The Ocean Foundation.

With the game, the developer hope to give players “a deeper appreciation for the oceans and, especially through VR, leave a first-hand impression of the issues of sea level rising, coral bleaching, and plastics in the ocean.”

To boot, the studio also released a new trailer that dives deeper into the story behind the game.

Gorgeous Neon Seascape Jupiter & Mars Surfaces This Spring

It’s been a while since VRFocus last heard new details regarding Tigertron’s PlayStation VR exclusive, Jupiter & Mars,  with the title appearing at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in 2018 as well as a couple of other events in the US and Europe. This weekend the studio released a brand new story trailer for the title, which also unveiled a launch window, Spring 2019.

Jupiter & Mars

Jupiter & Mars is sort of like a dolphins eye view of the world after the human race has managed to wipe itself out because of climate change, by flooding the entire planet. You play as Jupiter, one half of a pair of dolphins – the other being Mars –  who happens to have enhanced echolocation powers that let her see through murky waters, beyond solid objects, and into the heart of the deepest oceans.

The duo encounters the Elders, an ancient and powerful race of whales, who ask them to help save the oceans from the last mankind’s mechanical legacy by shutting down a global network of semi-functioning bases and machines that are disrupting sea life. To achieve this they must explore five distinct biomes, from tropical islands to sunken underwater cities. Both Jupiter and Mars offer their own unique abilities to help solve the puzzles that lay ahead. While Jupiter has echolocation, Mars has a Ram ability, to get out of tight spots, to bust open a wall, or to pop that oyster shell open and discover hidden secrets throughout the videogame.

Jupiter & Mars aims to blend immersive storytelling and interactive entertainment with information regarding how the human race is treating the oceans, which might be vast expanses of water but at the same time are fragile eco-systems that can be irreversibly damaged by humanity if nothing changes.

Cosmic Dolphins in New Jupiter & Mars Trailer

The advent of E3 always means the release of a whole host of new information, announcements and trailers. One of these newly unveiled trailers comes from publisher Tigertron, who have revealed some footage of upcoming PlayStation VR title Jupiter & Mars.

Jupiter & Mars stars a pair of dolphins called, as you might expect, Jupiter and Mars. Humanity is long gone and the two dolphins set out the explore a surreal neon waterscape.

Jupiter and Mars

The trailer shows footage of some of the watery ‘biomes’ that the dolphin protagonists will explore as they search for the mysterious group of whales known as the elders in an effort to enlist their help and find a way to resolve the problems that humankind left behind.

Players will be able to take control of one of the dolphins while the other aids you under AI control as you solve puzzles and hunt for hidden treasure and also meet up with legendary sea creatures in order to find a way to restore the damaged underwater world to life.

Jupiter and Mars will need to find and the neutralise a series of semi-functional bases that were once inhabited by humans. These bases are disrupting sea life, either through neglect and malfunction or design.

Jupiter is a female dolphin who has enhanced echolocation abilities which let her see in even the murkiest of waters. Mars is her partner, a male dolphin who is alert and always ready for action. Their quest is aided by the Elders, and ancient race of whales who provide information needed to fulfil their task.

Jupiter & Mars is being developed in partnership with ocean conservation organisations SeaLegacy and The Ocean Foundation who are providing exclusive content to the development team to create a rich and realistic underwater environment.

The trailer is available to view below, and VRFocus will bring you further news on Jupiter & Mars as it becomes available.

Defending The Future with Jupiter & Mars

Dolphins are one of those species that nearly every human on the planet seems to find incredibly endearing. They are also very smart – smart enough to become to stars of an upcoming virtual reality (VR) titles from Tigertron called Jupiter & Mars.

Jupiter & Mars is set in the far future where humankind is almost all gone. Dolphin Jupiter and her companion Mars explore five ‘biomes’ as they try and enlist the help of a group of whales called ‘The elders’ in order to resolve the after effects of the pollution humans left behind.

Jupiter and Mars - Screenshot

Many VR players commented that the far future setting and the use of dolphin protagonists make the title feel very much like a spiritual successor to classic SEGA title Ecco the Dolphin and its sequels.

Jupiter & Mars has the dolphin protagonist exploring areas such as tropical islands and underwater sunken cities, all set amidst spectacular ocean environments as the player is exposed to the damaging effects of pollution and climate change, such as the bleaching of coral reefs and ocean acidification – issues that closely reflect those occurring in reality.

Developers Tigertron have been working with The Ocean Foundation to support the marine conservation efforts by including unlockable content in Jupiter & Mars, though there is as of yet no indication on what this content will involve.

James Mielke, the creative director for Tigertron. “Video games are such a unique, interactive medium, we felt this would be the perfect way to introduce groups like The Ocean Foundation to a whole new audience of gamers active and engaged about the world they live in.”

New screenshots of Jupiter & Mars are available to view below. The title is planned for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR, with a release sometime in Summer 2018. A price point has not yet been confirmed.
