Touring Karts – VR Edition Races Towards Q4 2019 Launch

Ivanovich Games, the studio behind virtual reality (VR) title like Operation Warcade and Final Soccer VR (formerly Final Goalie: Football Simulator) has announced its latest project. This time the team is heading to the track for what looks like some Mario Kart inspired racing in Touring Karts – VR Edition.

Touring Karts - VR Edition

The studio is building Touring Karts for both VR and non-VR gameplay, with both versions featuring 22 tracks and 30 customizable cars inspired by real tracks and teams. They’ll also feature both single-player and multiplayer modes, with cross-platform gameplay supporting up to eight-player races. As for power-ups, players will have access to 45 options with the ability to combine them as well. For instance, there’s the classic banana to make the opponent spin out, or the bazooka to blow them up. Combine the two and you’ll get a banana bazooka!

Whether in solo or online modes, there are more than 400 prizes to collect. Players don’t even need to unlock tracks and karts, because in ‘Quick Start’ mode they’re all available straight away.

For the VR version, the big difference comes in the number of views available, ensuring most players should hopefully find one that’s comfortable. For the really nausea prone there’s the mode where you’re sat in a kart simulator looking at a screen. Then there’s the traditional 3rd-person viewpoint or for the hardcore the 1st-person view. Finally, there’s the very wide angle ‘roomscale’ view, which reminds VRFocus of the old Micro Machines videogames.

Touring Karts - VR Edition

There will also be plenty of versatility in racing peripherals. Ivanovich Games seem to have included every possible controller configuration, from gamepads and steering wheels to motion controls (PlayStation Move, Oculus Touch) and even devices like 3dRudder.

Touring Karts – VR Edition is expected to launch in Q4 2019, supporting PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift/Rift S, HTC Vive and Windows Mixed Reality headsets.

Head on over to the official Touring Karts website for further details on the different versions – there will also be a mobile edition and a VR Arcade Edition for location-based entertainment (LBE) venues using PC VR headsets. As further details are announced regarding the release date, VRFocus will keep you posted.

Touring Karts Aims To Level Up The Kart Racer For VR

Touring Karts Aims To Level Up The Kart Racer For VR

With the recent releases of Team Sonic Racing and Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled, you’re likely in the mood to try even more kart racing. Ivanovich Games has an eccentric new option for you, Touring Karts, which lets you fire powerful weapons at your enemies and even drink tasty beverages as you race around the track.

Coming in late 2019 to PlayStation VR, Windows Mixed Reality, Oculus, and Vive platforms, Touring Karts features 22 separate tracks, 45 power-ups, and 30 different karts. The karts themselves are modeled after real F1 designs, and you can choose to play with national teams from all over the world.

It will include both online and story modes, and there are several different view options, depending on your preference. These include a dizzy-free option sitting in an arcade cabinet, first-person, room-scale, or third-person views. Several control options are available, as well, including steering wheels, handheld controllers, gamepads, and the 3dRudder accessory.

Touring Karts will support cross-platform play, but that’s not the only thing you can mix up. You can combine the various power-ups to create all-new tools during races. Merging a banana peel with a bazooka will create a banana launcher, which is perfect for disrupting distant opponents.

Touring Karts will also be available in non-VR, VR Arcade, and mobile versions, and the VR release is far from the first VR kart game. , ,

PlayStation VR Arcade Throwback Operation Warcade Heads To U.S. Retail Next Month

You may have read articles from a number of outlets in recent weeks about how virtual reality (VR) is potentially the saving grace for the arcade industry. Of course, the growing push and roll out of VR experiences that fall under the digital out-of-home entertainment (DOE) bracket is nothing new. As anyone who has read guest writer Kevin Williams’ The Virtual Arena column will be able to tell you.

Operation Warcade screenshot

However, one thing we have also seen is the arcade being increasingly represented within VR itself. With a number of videogames applications and looking to recapture the feel of going to the arcade complete with throwbacks to classic games of the day. One of the most notable we’ve seen recently is Operation Warcade, a title that brings back memories of the likes of Operation Wolf and other ‘uzi bolted to a cabinet’ shooters from the early eighties where the digital bullets fly and the enemy bodycount is high.

Developed by Ivanovich Games for the PlayStation VR and published by Perp Games has now been confirmed as heading to the North American retailers on September 4th, 2018 and will be priced at $29.99 (USD), incorporating 100 missions across 36 levels.  Listed features for Operation Warfare include:

Immersion Mode
After shooting various immersion points through each map, players are warped into the environment, putting the player
directly behind the steering wheel of a jeep, in the cockpit of a military jet and other intense situations.

Retro VR Feel
With over 10 hours of gameplay, Operation Warcade brings the rush of nostalgic arcade-style play to gamers in an all-new experience built from the ground up specifically for VR platforms.

Operation Warcade VRHardcore Mode
Once players have mastered the art of taking dudes out repeatedly, they can go gung-ho in hardcore mode, where each environment is condensed into a single level with a limited number of retries.

Online Leaderboards
Players can compare their kills to others through an online leaderboard to see who’s the biggest bad ass of them all.

“We have fond memories of making trips to the arcade to spend coins for hours of fun, and we love having that feeling again with Operation Warcade” Commented Mickey Torode, Director of Publishing at Perp Games. “VR’s ability to fully transport you, like you’re standing in front of a classic arcade machine, is fantastic – and it goes even further, letting you literally step into the machine.”

VRFocus will bring you more news about upcoming PlayStation VR titles very soon.

Competition: Celebrate The PlayStation VR Launch of Operation Warcade By Winning It

If you’re familiar with the usual weekly ‘run’ of content on VRFocus you might be a little surprised to find a competition here on a Wednesday. Over the last couple of months, we’ve been pretty regular in having a prize draw giveaway for codes every Friday. Giving you the chance to acquire virtual reality (VR) videogame codes for everything from PlayStation VR to Gear VR titles. In fact, at the time of writing we still have a couple of days left on our last one, for a couple of EU PSVR codes for Time Carnage.

Operation Warcade screenshotBut I’ve got good news, there’s still going to be a Friday competition. This week we’ve got an extra one, courtesy of the good folks at Ivanovich Games.  They are the developers behind Operation Warcade VR, a title that takes the spirit of a classic arcade favourite and gives it a VR twist.

Operation Warcade VR looks to invoke memories of classic wartime shooters, the Operation Wolf‘s of the world. Where you stood in front of an arcade cabinet with nothing but a swivel-mounted representation of an uzi with an extra button to pop a grenade off every now and then to lay waste to an enemy force. You’re a one-man-army. Nothing can stop you. Operation Warcade VR has six levels full of bullets, explosions and arcade nostalgia. Alternatively you can take on the trials of Immersive Mode, which contains over 100 missions. The team even added a Half-Life 2-style gravity gun to proceedings, allowing you to do things like rip military drones out of the sky.

“Operation Warcade is my childhood dream.” CEO and Founder of Ivanovich Games, Ivan Cascales explained in an announcement last month. “A declaration of love to the golden age of the arcades. An injection of nostalgia that, thanks to VR, we can relive in unparalleled conditions from 30 years ago.”

Operation Warcade VR

To celebrate the title’s anticipated launch onto the PlayStation VR we’ve teamed up with Ivanovich Games to give you the chance to win four codes for the title. The codes are for the European region – so you’ll need a EU PlayStation account in order to claim and play them.  All you need to do to enter is use the Gleam widget below and interact with our social media accounts in some way. You’ll receive a draw entry for being a follower of us on Twitter, one (or another one) for being a subscriber to us on YouTube, or by visiting our Facebook page. Regular readers will know we’ve recently added our Instagram account to the mix and if you visit that you’ll gain not one but two entries for the draw. Of course, if you then follow the account while you’re there, that’d be pretty swell from our point of view.

The competition is open for around a week. Starting today, April 11th, 2018, and will end at midnight UK time, the beginning of April 18th. Winners will be drawn and contacted after that period. Best of luck to all!

Something for the Weekend: Bundles And Deals In The Steam Store

Some days are really sent to test you. Nothing goes right, and instead everything goes very wrong indeed. It’s raining out, or cold, or both. Something expensive breaks. Someone reliable is not. You’ve no time for any of the things you need to do. Your post is nothing but bills and your next-door neighbour is still playing that same song over and over they started playing several hours back. What’s the worst is when these days happen to be on the weekend, supposedly days of rest.

Sometimes you just need to take a load off, and get away from it all. In this way virtual reality (VR) is especially valuable. After all, if the world’s full of nonsense why not go to a new one? Thankfully there’s always a deal here on the various stores where you can pick up a videogame on the cheap and work out some of the stress from a testing world.

Today’s selection of titles picked by VRFocus come from Steam, so check out the below and maybe save some cash on something good.

CROTEAM VR Bundle

Compatibility: HTC Vive and Oculus Rift

Remember what I said about combating stress above? Here’s a bumper pack of titles to cause havoc in.

Earlier in the week we told you about the release of Serious Sam 3 VR: BFE. Croteam have been busy throughout 2016 and 2017 converting some of their most iconic titles – the Serious Sam series – into VR compatible adventures for both HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. As well as that release Croteam also released a special bundle of all their VR related titles onto Steam.
It’s a five pack consisting of Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope, Serious Sam VR: The First EncounterSerious Sam VR: The Second Encounter, the aforementioned Serious Sam 3 VR: BFE and also The Talos Principle.

The CROTEAM VR Bundle works out to be 51 percent off of purchasing the games separately; meaning you can pick up all five titles for £73.90 GBP rather than £150.95.

Racket Nx screenshotRacket: Nx

Compatibility: HTC Vive and Oculus Rift

Racket: Nx is an out and out sports title, compare it to any game which involves a racket of some sort (badminton, tennis, table tennis, etc), just with a bit of sci-fi flare. Players are located in the centre of a dome, on a slightly raised platform. This dome is made up of hexagonal panels which illuminate with different options depending on the game mode or difficulty.” – Read Peter Graham’s preview for VRFocus.

Until the end of Monday Racket: Nx is available on Steam for £9.59 (GBP) rather than £15.99.

Karnage Chronicles logoKarnage Chronicles

Karnage Chronicles is a first-person experience that performs in a similar fashion to the extremely well received Vanishing Realms: Rite of Steel. While Indimo Labs’ debut title nails the combination of puzzle solving and combat fairly solidly, Karnage Chronicles has two other ideals up its sleeve: character class divisions and co-operative gameplay.” – Read VRFocus Editor Kevin Joyce’s preview.

You’ve just over a day to get Karnage Chronicles on Steam at 15% off, for £16.14 (GBP) rather than £18.99.

ZomDay

Compatibility: HTC Vive and Oculus Rift

With as many bullets as is necessary.

You’ve until November 17th to get 25% off of ZomDay, bringing the price down to £5.24 (GBP) from £6.99.

Aeon

In this videogame by Ivanovich Games, soon to celebrate its first anniversary you must take on the role of a football attacker or a goalkeeper and use your virtual skills in order to score goals or prevent them from being scored. Its as simple as that. Whilst for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift the striker side of the game is only for the HTC Vive – so do bear this in mind.

For a short time only you can get Final Soccer VR for £7.49 (GBP) 50% off its usual price of £14.99.  Its also a part of the Virtual Reality Arcade Bundle, which also features Lander 8009 VR, Operation Warcade VR and Off-Road Paradise: Trial 4×4. Take up arms in Wuhan Firegame Co.,Ltd’s first person battler which is on sale now for half its usual price of £6.99 (GBP). Another title in the Steam week long deal that is rapidly expiring, you’ve just over a day to act and acquire it.

Review: Final Goalie: Football Simulator

For football fans virtual reality (VR) hasn’t really offered much in the way of immersive entertainment so far. There’s plenty of standard videogames on the sport but it seems as if football doesn’t translate overly well to VR headsets. But that depends on what part of the game you’re interested in, while football mad kids dream of being a striker – upfront, scoring goals – being the goalkeeper is just as critical, and it’s this position that Ivanovich Games has chosen for Final Goalie: Football Simulator.

Firstly, you don’t need to be a fan of football to get into Final Goalie: Football Simulator. This isn’t a videogame that involves stats, teams or any of the other fluff that you get in management simulators. It’s just you, the goal, and a whole load of flying balls to stop. Being a HTC Vive title mechanics are simple, it’s all about hand to eye coordination. Use your hands to defend the goal by any means necessary, whether that’s punching, slapping or catching the incoming projectiles.

Final Goalie: Football Simulator screenshot

Final Goalie: Football Simulator offer up four flavours of entertainment, Arcade Game, Simulator Game, Story Mode and Multiplayer. The first two offer the quickest access into the action, with the Simulator putting you in front of several football players who take it in turn to shoot a variety of shots. It’s this initial introduction – you need to play Simulator then Arcade before unlocking Story mode – that can certainly give you a rush of adrenaline, putting you on the pitch inside a fully fledged stadium, certainly does impress.

Once the shots start incoming, it’s certainly quick and intuitive to start saving the balls. Your hands naturally extend to save the shots, keeping an eye how they curve and slice through the air. You soon realise that unlike a real goal mouth, Final Goalie: Football Simulator‘s goal is a lot smaller, and thankfully so. It means you’re not going to start diving wildly around your living room stretching for the top corner, most should find they can cover the goal at full arm extension with little footwork required.

But that’s not to say it’s easy, in the Arcade mode for example, players are replaced with cannons firing footballs and cannonballs so beware which to save. There’s also the challenge of trying to save multiple shots at the same time, which can certainly be difficult, but this is made easier with powerups. These pop up as nets where the cannons appear. To activate them, simply catch a ball and throw it at a net.

Final Goalie Football Simulator

Multiplayer on the other certainly offers up a unique approach to cross-platform play. Ivanovich Games make Final Kick, a mobile title in which revolves around players taking penalties. The developer mixes these two together to offer a far more dynamic challenge to both titles. It adds a nice social aspect to the VR version, so that friends can play together whilst in the same room.

If you’re after a fun alternative to all of the first-person shooters (FPS) available on HTC Vive Final Goalie: Football Simulator certainly provides an outlet. There’s plenty to experience and it’s certainly a workout in long play sessions, but it can get repetitive as the basic challenge does essentially stay the same. If you’re happy wildly flailing your arms in VR, then Final Goalie: Football Simulator provides an enjoyable experience that’s suitable for everyone.

Put Your Goalkeeping Skills to the Test with Final Goalie: Football Simulator on HTC Vive

Opportunities for social virtual reality (VR) experiences are a typical conversation point within the industry currently, and yet completely out of left field comes an intriguing new videogame title. Final Goalie: Football Simulator, now available for HTC Vive, offers solo gameplay in addition to competitive matches against smartphone players.

Final Goalie: Football Simulator screenshot

Produced in a collaboration between indie game developers Ivanovich Games and Dark Curry, Final Goalie: Football Simulator is a goalkeeper simulation experience designed exclusively for the HTC Vive. Ivanovich Games is the same developer who previously released the massively popular Final Kick smartphone videogame on iOS and Android, which allows multiplayer gameplay between HTC Vive and mobile players online, where penalty kicks can be done from your smartphone through the Final Kick application.

Designed for football enthusiasts by specialists in the genre, Final Goalie: Football Simulator offers three distinct modes of play: Simulator Mode presents 150 challenging levels; Arcade Mode features power-ups such as slow-motion replay and giant gloves; quick-play action for immediate drop-in, drop-out challenges.

Final Goalie: Football Simulator is also designed for social media platforms such as YouTube and Twitch, wherein players can challenge viewers to a competition using their smartphones.

Final Goalie: Football Simulator screenshot

Available to download now, via Steam, Final Goalie: Football Simulator is priced at £6.99 GBP. VRFocus will keep you updated with all the latest details on Final Goalie: Football Simulator and other VR titles from Ivanovich Games and Dark Curry.
