Bublar Group Are Developing A Hello Kitty AR Mobile Videogame

The ever popular and lovable Hello Kitty is to get her own augmented reality (AR) mobile videogame following a new license agreement between Sanrio GmbH, subsidiary of Sanrio Co. Ltd. and the Swedish game studio Bublar Group AB. This will see Hello Kitty and a number of Sanrio’s characters, including the popular Little Twin Stars, My Melody and Gudetama, come together in a new gaming experience.

“At Bublar, our mission is to merge the real and imaginary worlds together in a fun way, connecting Augmented Reality and digital content to real world locations” Said Magnus Granqvist, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Bublar Group AB. “We are looking forward to bringing the beloved Hello Kitty and a variety of other Sanrio characters to the AR world. Hello Kitty has been creating smiles worldwide for almost 45 years.”

The videogame is being designed and developed to allow players to use their smartphone or other compatible devices to interact with the virtual characters in real-world locations. The world will become filled with hidden Kawaii magic and treasures and it will fall down to the players to find and track it all. By leverage the latest technology in location-based AR, the studio is hoping to create a multiplayer title in which the world around them will come to life full of material that fans of the characters will know and love.

“With this game, our passionate fan base can meet and engage with all Sanrios’ characters in mixed reality” Said Simon Gresswell, Chief Operating Officer, Sanrio GmbH. “We have been inspired by Bublar’s creative team and AR knowledge; their passion for creating innovative mobile games and apps is of the highest level.”

Other features of the title include the chance for players to find and collect resources and items to build and expand their very own Kawaii village. Clues will need to be located in order to uncover the mysteries of the Shanrio universe and all of this can be explored on your own or with friends as you unlock more characters to play with. The title is set to launch sometime in 2019 and until then, fans of the characters should look forward to an interesting AR experience.

VRFocus will be sure to bring you all the latest on the title in the future, so stay tuned for more.
