Header Goal VR: Being Axel Rix Gets Full Release

Codemodeon launched its eccentric football/shooting hybrid title Header Goal VR: Being Axel Rix onto Steam early Access back in November 2016. Since then, several updates have come to the title, but the biggest has brought the title out of Early Access and into full release whilst adding the ‘big zombie update’.

Header Goal VR: Being Axel Rix is the story of a young football/soccer player named Axel Rix, who, while training and trying to improve his football skills, find bizarre and extraordinary events taking place around him. Many of these things can, by astonishing coincidence, only be resolved by the correct application of a soccer ball at high velocity.

In essence, Header Goal VR: Being Axel Rix is a physics-based shooter which uses the interesting mechanic of heading balls towards the target instead of shooting it as in a regular shooter title. The new release update will include footballs with various different effects, such as burning, freezing or exploding and some that move like missiles.

The overarching story of Axel Rix is also expanded as part of the update, bringing in a lot of dancing zombies in a ten-chapter expansion plus a boss fight at the end. The title character will also meet Agent S.C.A.R.Z, who is an alien.

Header Goal VR: Being Axel Rix is available in full from 17th August, 2017 for the HTC Vive, currently priced at £12.99 (GBP). Further information and updates can be found on the Steam store page.

VRFocus will continue to report on new and upcoming VR titles.

Header Goal VR: Being Axel Rix Leaving Early Access with big Zombie Update

In November 2016 Codemodeon launched its football inspired virtual reality (VR) title Header Goal VR: Being Axel Rix onto early access for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. Today the studio has announced that the videogame will be leaving early access later this month, receiving a major update in the process.

Dubbed the ‘big zombie update’, players will see the story of Axel Rix expand as the character meets Agent S.C.A.R.Z who is an alien. A new zombie themed episode will be added that includes ten chapters plus there will be a boss fight.

Mixing up the gameplay, balls will now have burning, freezing and exploding effects, whilst some will move like missiles. Axel will also have a new ability called ‘Bazooka Head’ in which his head turns into a bazooka firing cannon balls.

If you’ve not heard of Header Goal VR: Being Axel Rix before it’s essentially a football experience that solely revolves around using your head to deflect balls back at an assortment of targets, with an over arching storyline about a young player called Axel Rix.

The full release of Header Goal VR: Being Axel Rix will take place on Steam and Oculus Home on 17th August. Checkout the new trailer below. For any further updates, keep reading VRFocus.

It’s Time to Practice Those Football Skills as Header Goal VR Hits Steam and Oculus Home

September saw developer Codemodeon release new details in the form of a trailer for its football inspired virtual reality (VR) title Head Goal VR. It had been sometime since any info on the project was released, but now the videogame has arrived on Steam Early Access for HTC Vive and Oculus Home for Oculus Rift.

Essentially a football experience that solely revolves around using your head to deflect balls back at an assortment of targets, Codemodeon has also seen fit to interweave a story element into it. This has players take on the role of young football player Axel Rix. He made it on to the England national team but things haven’t worked out well, the last couple of matches were lost due to him, especially his heading skills. So now its time to train and get back to form but not everything goes according to plan.

The current early access version for HTC Vive offers the full single-player story mode consisting of 10 chapters. Codemodeon states that upon leaving early access Header Goal VR include additional chapters with a new zombie theme, as well as more features like an endless mode. The Oculus Rift version doesn’t feature in Oculus Home’s early access section, but presumably the features will be included on both.

There’s also a small difference in price between the two platforms. Oculus Rift users can download the title for £7.99 GBP, while on Steam there’s currently a limited time discount available. Until 29th November HTC Vive owners can get a 10 percent discount, dropping the price from £6.99 down to £6.29.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of Header Goal VR, reporting back with any further updates.

New Header Goal VR Screenshots Released

Earlier this week VRFocus reported on Codemodeon’s football inspired virtual reality (VR) title Header Goal VR, resurfacing with a new trailer and a release window. The studio has also released a series of screenshots for the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift videogame which are shown below.

Header Goal VR is a physics based, sports game that involves players heading footballs towards various targets in front of them, similar to Headmaster for PlayStation VR.

But Header Goal VR also has a storyline to add to the experience. Codemodeon explains: “Axel Rix, a young soccer player. Since being selected for the England National Football Team he was the center of attention. Nowadays, things are not going well for him. In his last couple of games, he was the main reason behind the loss especially with his inaccurate headers. The media and the supporters are started being so heavy on him. Increased pressure on his shoulders made him behave like a lunatic and lastly, he has been kicked out of the national team. His career has taken a serious damage. He can’t bring himself to this situation. To get back to his once successful days he starts to train really hard. While he keeps on working, extraordinary things start to happen around him, which will eventually lead him to become the hero of an another story.”

Header Goal VR is scheduled to launch for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift toward the end of 2016. As VRFocus learns more about Header Goal VR we’ll bring you the latest details.
