Budget Cuts

Budget Cuts is a great title, with substantial story and meaty, challenging gameplay, and an entertaining style, but it does suffer from some significant performance problems that do detract from the experience. Budget Cuts could be elevated from good to utterly brilliant if it is given a little more time in the oven to bake in and correct the issues.” – Read VRFocus’ Staff Writer Rebecca Hills-Duty preview of Budget Cuts.

Budget Cuts is available now for £19.99 (GBP) down from the usual £22.99.

Shooty Fruity screenshot

Shooty Fruity

“Despite entertaining and satisfying basic gameplay, Shooty Fruity ultimately fails to rise above its roots as a wave shooter, with simplistic visual style, lack of story or multiplayer. It also aims to copy the supermarket setting a little too well, resulting in the annoying voice and muzak-style background music, which doesn’t help endear it to the audience. Shooty Fruity is a fun way to kill a couple of hours, but offers little else.” – Read VRFocus’ Staff Writer Rebecca Hills-Duty review of Shooty Fruity.

Shooty Fruity is available now for £8.99 (GBP) down from £14.99.

Football Nation VR Tournament 2018 (Formally VRFC: Virtual Reality Football Club)

“VRFC: Virtual Reality Football Club remains one of the best sports experiences VR has to offer. More than that however, it’s also one of the best social VR experiences currently available, with the tension of competition and the misery of defeat likely to help make new friends (and potentially enemies) across the VR community. VRFC: Virtual Reality Football Club is a welcome foundation for sports simulations in VR, and with the FIFA franchise now surpassing 25 editions (not including the many spin-offs such as FIFA Street and FIFA World Cup), it’s a wonder to think exactly how much of VRFC: Virtual Reality Football Club will remain in VR football 25 years from now.” – Read VRFocus’ Editor Kevin Joyce’s review of VRFC: Virtual Reality Football Club.

Football Nation VR Tournament 2018 is available now for £4.49 (GBP) down from £10.99.

Crisis on the Planet of the Apes VR screenshot2

Crisis on the Planet of the Apes

Crisis on the Planet of the Apes VR is by no means one of the best VR experiences out there, but as a film tie-in it certainly sets the bar high. Because it’s so closely linked with its film brethren is the possible reason for the linearity, playing out as an interactive movie sequence. There also seems to be no additional extras involved, nothing to find or keep you coming back for more, so once completed – it shouldn’t take any longer than two hours to finish on normal – that’s your lot. If you’re a fan of the Planet of the Apes franchise then Crisis on the Planet of the Apes VR is certainly worth checking out, everyone else may find it too constrained and short lived.” – Read VRFocus’ Senior Staff Writer Peter Graham’s review of Crisis On The Planet Of The Apes VR.

Crisis On The Planet Of The Apes VR is available now for £7.99 (GBP) down from £10.99.

That is all for this week but remember that VRFocus gathers all the best sales and deals every week, so check back next weekend at the same time to discover more.

Supponor Deliver Targeted Advertising Thanks To Virtual Signage

Supponor

On site adverting at sports stadiums are seeing a transition from using static advertising on billboard to electronic displays, offering advertising more creative freedom with how to approach their audience. It was recently reported by Sportsvideo that the English Football Association’s partnership with augmented reality company Supponor would see the technology used during key matches.

The partnership was put to the test during the England warm-up match again Costa Rica in Leeds on June 7th, with Supponor having provided virtual signage insertions. Spectators at Elland Road saw different LED banner ads scrolling on the barriers around the field than those watching at home. Even viewers of the broadcast feed were subject to different ads depending on their location and the devices they were watching the match on.

The technology to virtual adjust the advertisements that viewers and spectators see all on the same surface/display not only increases the number of advertising opportunities, but also also for more targeted adverts. The technology and partnership with Supponor is expected to grow and be used further in the future which is sure to shape the way stadium advertising is used.

Football Nation VR Hosts the Virtual World Cup

Football is known to fans as ‘The beautiful game’ and is one of the most popular sports in the world, drawing in huge crowds to big games and raking in millions every year. Developer Cherry Pop Games is hoping to tap into the passion that people have for the sport with Football Nation VR.

Nina speaks to Gemma Jessop, Director of Business Development at Cherry Pop Games about Football Nation VR and what plans the studio has for the title.

Football Nation VR 2018

Football Nation VR is a free upgrade to owners of VRFC: Virtual Reality Football Club and brings expanded gameplay, including tournament content which is inspired by the World Cup.

Players can don a VR headset to take the role of a professional football player taking part in cup matches at the iconic Wembley Stadium, running and kicking the ball using the hand-held motion controllers, soaking in the atmosphere of the famous sports venue.

Football Nation VR was born from our first product, VRFC,” Jessop said, “Which was a five-a-side football which was really simple and fun. We learned lots from that, we got lots of feedback from the community and information on the controls and what people wanted improving on.”

As a result of that feedback, the team at Cherry Pop Games spent a lot of time altering and tweaking VRFC until it became quite different to the original iteration, causing the developers to decide to re-brand and relaunch the title under a new name with the expanded functionality.

All the countries who are involved in the real-life World Cup are represented in Football Nation VR, so players can play for their country and try and lead their team to victory for the chance to lift the coveted trophy.

Users can check their progress against a global leaderboard, and at the end of the World Cup, the player at the top of the leaderboard will get a special trophy and an in-game cosmetic reward of golden boots.

The interview is available to view below. For further coverage of upcoming VR titles, keep checking back with VRFocus.

DOOM VFR screenshot

DOOM VFR

“Ultimately DOOM VFR stands as a fine example of just what can be achieved with the FPS genre in VR as of today, lining-up against Robo Recall as an action-heavy experience that throws the rulebook out of the window. It’s true that the visual quality has suffered dramatically and the control systems could be seen as far too awkward by many, but the fact that DOOM VFR pushes so hard against the VR grain makes it well worth any PlayStation VR owner’s time and money.” – Read VRFoucs’ Editor Kevin Joyce’s review of DOOM VFR.

DOOM VFR is available now for £14.99 (GBP) down from the usual £19.99.

Light Tracer Screenshot

Light Tracer

Light Tracer is a well-crafted VR platform title. Once you get used to the controls, it becomes challenging enough to keep you coming back for more. There are some very frustrating elements, but not enough to spoil the gameplay entirely. Having said that, Light Tracer is at its best when played in relatively small doses. Like a plate of snacks to nibble on instead of a feast, but still just as tasty.” – Read VRFocus’ Staff Writer Rebecca Hills-Duty’s review of Light Tracer.

Light Tracer is only £3.29 (GBP) down from £9.99.

Bloody Zombies

Bloody Zombies

“The visual design of Bloody Zombies has obviously taken VR into account throughout, with the 2D characters appearing like cardboard cutouts when the VR player moves their view alongside the action opposed to in front of it. This is obviously why nDreams – a publisher that has solely committed to VR content – took an interest in Paw Print Games’ Bloody Zombies to begin with. And they were right to do so, as while Bloody Zombies doesn’t reinvent the scrolling beat-‘em-up wheel, it does offer a convincing argument for 2D videogames making the jump to the more immersive medium.” – Read VRFocus’ Editor Kevin Joyce’s review of Bloody Zombies.

Bloody Zombies is currently on sale for £4.49 (GBP) down from £10.99.
