Evil Dead: Virtual Nightmare Crawls onto Oculus Go
Any horror fan worth their salt should know of Sam Raimi’s cult classic The Evil Dead series which began in 1981, going on to inspire countless knockoff’s and even a TV spin off series. Mobile games publisher Boomdash Digital announced earlier this year that it was in the process of making a virtual reality (VR) experience of the renowned film, Evil Dead: Virtual Nightmare, which has just launched for Oculus Go and Samsung Gear VR.
Just like the film players will find themselves in the classic cabin located deep in the woods. After discovering an ancient book an evil force is summoned. trapping you inside with hordes of monsters and demons to face.
Evil Dead: Virtual Nightmare is an action-packed endless runner that features an arsenal of iconic weaponry from the films. After exploring inside the infamous cabin it’s time to head into the forest to discover increasingly challenging missions in the Book of the Dead, unlock charms, pick up new weapons and combat powerful bosses.
As you can see from the gameplay trailer below all the weapons help you fight through the virtual world, with classic Evil Dead weapons from a nail gun to the chainsaw on hand plus the ability to upgrad weapons, including sights on all guns.
To celebrate the mobile release of Evil Dead: Virtual Nightmare, Boomdash Digital is running a competition on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram called ‘The Traveling Chainsaw’. For the next few weeka, followers are asked to guess where in the world the chainsaw is located, with correct guesses entering a draw to win Evil Dead T-shirts, copies of the videogame, and the chainsaw itself.
Evil Dead: Virtual Nightmare is available now for Samsung Gear VR and Oculus GO via Oculus Home for $4.99 USD / £3.99 GBP. For any further updates from the studio, keep reading VRFocus.
