Emirates airlines has developed a reputation for offering comfort and luxury to its passengers and customers. In an effort to demonstrate this, Emirates have implemented technology in its website that lets customers get a 3D, 360-degree look of the inside of an Emirates aircraft.
Emirates has become one of several airlines that have turned to virtual reality (VR) both before and during flights in an effort to better engage with its passengers and customers.
The Emirates website now allows users visiting its Emirates.com website to use web-based VR technology to get a view of the interior cabin of an Emirates A380 and Emirates Boeing 777, letting customers explore their seats and get a fool for how the journey will feel.
Customers can navigate through Economy, Business and First Class, and take a look at the Onboard Lounge and Shower Spa by using navigational hotspots.
Alex Knigge, Emirates’ Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications, Marketing and Brand (Digital), said: “As we continually invest to provide our customers with an unmatched travel experience onboard and on the ground, we also work very hard to give our customers a world-class digital experience. We are pleased to be the world’s first airline to introduce this cutting edge web VR technology, which offers our customers an immersive opportunity to learn more about the fantastic Emirates experience before they step on board. In our usability tests with customers, we found that they particularly appreciated the 3D seat and cabin models when selecting their seats.”
Visitors to the website can engage with the Emirates.Com seat experience by using a VR headset such as Google Cardboard, though most commercially available VR headsets are compatible with the experience.
Customers can use their smartphones to explore their seats before checking on online by using the 3D seat map, even letting customers reserve their preferred seat from within the 3D app.
