Survival Horror Project TERMINUS VR Arrives on Oculus Quest Next Week

Project Terminus VR

Project TERMINUS VR has been available via SideQuest for Oculus Quest for almost two years now and soon it’ll finally make its official appearance on the Oculus Store for Quest and Oculus Rift. Indie team CVR actually launched the survival horror through Steam early access back in March and next week Oculus Quest players can finally join in the multiplayer fun.

Project Terminus VR

Set in Paris, France, Project TERMINUS VR takes players on a terrifying journey through the city, both above and below ground as they try to avoid the assimilated. No, they’re not the Borg (well, almost), these unfortunate souls have come into contact with swarms of nanites that have been attacking cities, turning the population into a combination of biological and robotic matter that’s now devoid of their previous personality. With no idea where these nanites came from and the military locking down the city, players have to survive using whatever resources they can find.

Supporting single-player and online co-op multiplayer for up to four people – no matter the platform they’re on – CVR has built Project TERMINUS VR around typically difficult survival mechanics and realistic VR interactions to immerse players in the experience. That means a backpack with limited storage, a flashlight with limited battery, physically climbing ledges and ladders, looting furniture, and crawling into ventilation systems to find whatever you can.

The launch of Project TERMINUS VR for Oculus Quest and Rift will be Act 1 of a multipart, story-driven campaign that should supply players with several hours of gameplay the studio says. Additionally, an Arcade mode will provide mini-campaigns and wave-based action on three exclusive maps.

That’s not all for you VR horror fans. Project TERMINUS VR also has its own Map Editor so players can create, share and play their own custom maps which should massively up the replay factor for those after value for money.

Project TERMINUS VR is set to launch on Oculus Quest and Rift stores on 28th October 2021, fully cross-buy and cross-play compatible with the SteamVR version as well on casual-vr.com. For continued updates on Project TERMINUS VR keep reading VRFocus.

Survival Horror Project TERMINUS VR’s Kickstarter Looks to Raise €65,000

At the start of March, there was a little influx of virtual reality (VR) horror videogame announcements such as the recently released Lies BeneathAlso part of that bunch was Project TERMINUS VR by indie development team CVR, which has recently launched it Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign to help complete development.

Project TERMINUS

Unusually for a lot of VR videogame Kickstarters, you can already sample Project TERMINUS VR across a range of headsets, with demos available for Oculus Quest, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Valve Index. The second playable demo the team has released, you can play through the prologue to get a feel for what Project TERMINUS VR is like before deciding to back it.

CVR is looking to raise €65,000 EUR (approximately £57,000 GBP) by the end of April, with the cheapest pledge to secure a copy of the title being €20. Higher tiers include beta access (€40), alpha access (€75) and plenty of other goodies.

Project TERMINUS VR takes place in Paris, France, with the story involving an event where cities around the world are being attacked by swarms of nanites which assimilate anyone they come into contact with, turning them into a combination of biological and robotic matter which is now devoid of their previous personality. The origin of these swarms remains a mystery but those who do become assimilated are now a threat to anyone living. This has turned afflicted cities into quarantine zones, of which Paris is one and you’re trapped on the inside.

Project TERMINUS

There are plenty of VR titles going for a realistic approach when it comes to interactivity and Project TERMINUS VR is no different, using roomscale to full effect. For example, if you need to crawl through a ventilation duct then you’ll need to get on your hands and knees. This also goes for your backpack, no unlimited inventory here. As this is a survival horror you’ll need to choose between useful tools like crowbars and snacks to maintain health.

The team will be creating two modes of gameplay in Project TERMINUS VR, a single-player and a co-op multiplayer which will support up to 4 players. The campaign also has several stretch goals which would expand both of these modes. For further updates on Project TERMINUS VR’s Kickstarter keep reading VRFocus.

Oculus Quest Horror ‘Project TERMINUS’ to Launch Kickstarter Campaign Soon

It seems as though a season of virtual reality (VR) horror is upon us as White Door Games recently announced  Cosmophobia and Drifter Entertainment will soon release Lies Beneath. In a couple of weeks indie developer CVR will begin a Kickstarter crowd-funding for its survival horror on Oculus Quest, Project TERMINUS.

Project TERMINUS

Set in Paris, France, cities around the world are being attacked by swarms of nanites which assimilate anyone they come into contact with. While the origin of these swarms unknown, those who are assimilated become a threat, a combination of biological and robotic matter which is now devoid of the character they once were. Afflicted cities have become quarantine zones and you’re trapped on the inside.

Gameplay in Project TERMINUS revolves around realism and survival. Your bag isn’t unlimited so careful decisions have to be made regarding useful tools, food and other items. The same goes for interactions within the videogame. If you need to crawl through a ventilation duct then you’ll need to get on your hands and knees or kneel behind a counter so as not to be spotted by an enemy. You’ll need to sneak past swarms and the assimilated, solve clues to unlock new routes and talk to NPC’s to influence what happens next.

There will be a single-player story mode offering around seven hours of gameplay or you can enjoy the campaign in coop mode for up to four players. Project TERMINUS will also include several online multiplayer modes where teams can try to survive waves of enemies or battle one another as either survivors or assimilated.

CVR intends to launch the Kickstarter campaign on 17th March to help support development but hasn’t yet revealed more much the campaign is looking to raise. Currently, an alpha demo is available via SideQuest where you can download either the Oculus Quest or Oculus Rift version. To coincide with the Kickstarter launch the studio will be releasing a new 30-minute demo showcasing the beginning of Project TERMINUS.
