Parkour VR Game Stride Getting Big PC VR Update, PSVR Version Delayed
Parkour VR game STRIDE is getting a big new PC VR update soon and is running Closed Beta tests right now. Plus, the PSVR version is delayed to late 2021.
STRIDE – VR Parkour
There are no details on what the big new update is exactly, but it’s being described as a “major content update” for STRIDE. You won’t need to own the game already either — you’ll be provided access.
STRIDE is a VR parkour free-running game, similar in style to Mirror’s Edge, except it’s got an “endless runner” format along with a gun that lets you fight back against assailants. In the short clip posted to Reddit, it looks like the content update is probably adding a more exploratory game mode that lets you explore the city in more directions rather than going in a straight line. Perhaps this is the long-alluded to Story mode.
If you’re interested in helping test the new features for STRIDE, you can visit the Closed Beta sign up page right here. You’ll have to be willing to sign an NDA, available to playtest today at a scheduled time, have access to a VR-ready PC with a Rift, Quest + Link, or Quest + Virtual Desktop, and you must live in the EU, UK, western CIS countries, Turkey, or North Africa. Feel free to invite friends to apply as well.
Additionally, Joy Way announced that the PSVR version of the game is delayed until late 2021 and that the Quest version is still in development with no other updates.

Echo Arena Oculus Quest Open Beta Coming Soon, Watch A Full Match Now
Echo Arena on Oculus Quest should be launching an open beta soon for its zero-g virtual sport.
Ahead of the launch of the free multiplayer Oculus Studios project from Ready At Dawn we’ve gotten into the closed beta and captured video of a full match. Overall the game seems to be shaping up incredibly well on the Oculus Quest and I had a ton of fun.
Check out the video here:
Playing the game in a room with a large Quest guardian and the freedom to move around wirelessly is a bit of a revelation. I can get sick pretty easily in VR and the game didn’t really click for me on the original Rift because I always felt like my tracking — even with three or four sensors — never quite gave me the freedom I needed to really enjoy it. Echo Arena is a lot like the zero-g sport described in the book Ender’s Game and the competitive play constantly encourages you to reach out and punch other players so they freeze in place. You also need to stretch out to try and grasp the disc floating by. On an original Rift the combination of nearby external cameras and the tether to your PC constantly warns you to be cautious. On Quest, though, I am learning to let go of that fear, turn around more freely and stretch my body out to reach the disc.
That’s led me to a more satisfying sense of complete focus on the game. Even though the movement is pretty intense I haven’t needed to quit playing Echo Arena on Quest yet due to discomfort.
According to Ready At Dawn, the studio should be providing an update about open beta soon through a developer log. The game will be free and will also feature cross-play with Rift players.

Online VR RPG Nostos Latest Beta Test Includes Two Hours Of Story Content
Open-world online VR RPG Nostos is currently holding a four-day long Beta Test featuring cross-play between both VR and non-VR PC players until September 9th and it will include lots of new things that weren’t in the previous test.
For being one of the most anticipated VR games on the horizon (if the popularity and interest our coverage has seemed to generate is anything to go by) we still know very little about the title, generally speaking. After getting to try it briefly at Gamescom 2018 it’s been lots of mystery. Luckily, this weekend’s Beta Test should be a good opportunity to learn more for anyone lucky enough to get picked.
According to the developers at NetEase, this Beta Test will include two specific ‘main’ missions that encompass about two hours story content. This latest Nostos Beta will also include a larger map, more gameplay elements like a motorbike you can ride, and new side missions not seen before. It will also include more graphical effects such as rain and snow, more ancillary details like clouds and grass, and more optimization fixes.
Gameplay Screenshots from Non-VR PC Version:
To play the Nostos Beta on the highest settings they recommend at least an i7 9700k with 16GB of RAM and a 1080Ti GPU. Release date is still a bit confusing because the official Nostos Twitter account says “Q3 of 2019” still, which means this month technically, but then at China Joy previously this year they stated a Q4 2019 release date. Maybe a surprise announcement is in store soon.
We’ll be playing in the Nostos Beta today and are planning to livestream it over on your YouTube, so keep an eye out for that in a few hours or you can watch the archived gameplay afterward. The beta will last until September 9th.

PlayStation Aim Compatible Special Forces VR Promises Cross-Platform Multiplayer
VR Visio games have announced their latest virtual reality (VR) videogame, Special Forces VR. Powered by Unreal Engine, the videogame will be releasing on all the big head-mounted display (HMD) devices; PlayStation VR, HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.
Special Forces VR will support a variety of different VR peripherals, including the PlayStation Aim controller, but also special devices such as haptic suits, guns and “locomotion simulators.” VR Visio says this makes the title perfect for esports, though the benefit of VR in esports remains to be seen.
The game plays out essentially like Counter Strike, with players choosing either military or terrorist factions and playing against one another in a variety of game modes – but with the game built from the ground up for VR.
Players will be able to enjoy cross-platform play and wide, open immersive worlds to shoot enemies in – in VR, weapons and tools like riot shields really take on a new dimension when compared to when featured in traditional shooters, with motion controls allowing you to angle and move the shield in different directions, while blind-firing your weapon.
If you’re interested in signing up for beta tests, you can do so on VR Visio’s website here. Beta tests will go live in September 2017.
For more on Special Forces VR, be sure to take a look at the trailer below – everything looks incredibly promising, and by September we’ll know how good it plays. For more on Special Forces VR and everything else PlayStation VR stay on VRFocus.
