CBILAB Studios Launches Kickstarter Campaign for Sci-fi Adventure ManMade

It was only a few months ago that indie developer CBILAB VR Studios first unveiled details about its upcoming virtual reality (VR) title, ManMade. Today, the studio has finally launched its Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign, hoping to raise €43,000 EUR towards development.

ManMade Door Scene

If you’ve not read VRFocus’ coverage of ManMade up until this point, the story revolves around an AI-ruled 2050’s dystopian world. You play William Kaan one of the pioneers of advanced AI. He was living an entirely happy life, but an accident changed its course and he lost his faith in AI, with Kaan then seeking revenge on the system that betrayed him.

Set in a future Istanbul, Turkey, ManMade isn’t just about Kaan as you’ll also get to choose another character, another AI scientist called Anika. As ManMade is being built as an immersive adventure with many twists and turns every decision taken, whether that’s choosing to kill someone or reply to dialogue in a certain way will have a knock on effect.

CBILAB VR Studios plans to support both standard PC and PlayStation 4 players as well as HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR with ManMade. With backing tiers starting at €5, it’s the €22 version that grants access to ManMade, giving backers two codes for the standard and VR versions. Of course for the frivolous you could always go for the €4,300+ tier. This will get you every videogame and DLC released by the Cbilab VR Studios – basically a lifetime VIP pass – loads of collectable merchandise, plus, you’ll also become a secret character in ManMade.

If successful the studio will use the funding to continue development and hopefully launch ManMade in June 2019. VRFocus got a brief taster of the gameplay, finding that: “While the original trailer certainly looked very impressive the demo falls a little flat to be honest.” The demo only featured one room with a couple of tasks to complete, simply showcasing how the character moved and some of his abilities.

There’s still a long way to go until the final product, so VRFocus will be carefully watching ManMade’s progress.

The Future is Bright, the Future is ManMade

At the end of this month indie developer CBILAB VR Studios will launch a Kickstarter campaign for its first virtual reality (VR) compatible title Manmade. In the run up to the funding campaign the studio has given VRFocus early access to a short demo and naturally we recorded a gameplay video so you can see ManMade’s gameplay in action.

ManMade is set in a future society run by AI. The main character is a guy named Kaan who just so happens to be the AI developer that made it all happen. However, after some sort of accident that’s not been revealed just yet he’s now on the other side of the law and wants revenge.

The main videogame will have two playable characters, Kaan and another AI developer Anika, each have different backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs bringing different aspects to the gameplay. For the demo you just get you play as Kaan, set inside one room of the company he used to work for. The room is a server/data centre of sorts, with massive banks of computers to wander through.

As ManMade is a detective style experience where you guide Kaan around looking for clues using his extra-sensory abilities you need find the correct server to hack, then escape. Hack the wrong one and the alarm is raised triggering a restart. You then repeat until successful.
