Don’t Despair: 9 Big PSVR Games Still Coming To PS4 (And PS5 Via Back Compat)

What’s around the corner for Sony’s aging headset? We find out with nine big PSVR games coming soon.

It’d be fair to say that things are looking a little gloomy on the PSVR front right now. News that native PS5 games can’t support the new headset, coupled with recent comments from PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan that called into question when and if PSVR 2 might arrive, have poured a bit of cold water over the platform.

But PSVR fans need not despair just yet as there are plenty of PSVR games coming soon.

Yes, PS5 is less than two weeks away and will be dominating the headlines from here on out, but the PS4 won’t be going anywhere just yet. In fact, consoles traditionally get some of their best games as their successors make their way onto the scene. Developers are more familiar with the hardware than they ever have been, and get some of the best results out of the tech.

That certainly seems to be the case when looking over the list of PSVR games still to come on PS4.

9 Big PSVR Games Coming Soon To PS4 (And PS5 BC)

We’ve picked nine big PSVR games coming soon to Sony’s headset. That includes some of the headset’s most anticipated titles like Hitman 3, long-awaited ports and a few other hopeful indie gems to look forward to. We’ll remind you too that you will be able to keep playing these games on PS5, provided they don’t have any issues, via the console’s backwards compatibility feature and that you grab the free camera adaptor for the PS4 camera. You can find out how to do that here.

Solaris: Offworld Combat – 2020 (Read Our review)

Firewall developer First Contact Entertainment brought its new arena-based multiplayer shooter to Oculus earlier this year, but has long planned to release a PSVR version too. The studio is well-versed with the platform, having achieved popularity with its Rainbow Six-inspired tactical shooter. Solaris’ Quake-style fast-paced battles, meanwhile, look perfect for the PSVR Aim Controller, which the game fully supports.

Hitman 3 VR – January 21st, 2021

One of two PS4 games with a PS5 version that doesn’t support VR (the other being No Man’s Sky), Hitman 3 finds itself in a strange position just two months away from launch. We wonder how PS4 will handle the game’s sprawling and intricate sandboxes with the added pressure of VR, and we’re not sure how DualShock 4-exclusive motion controls will work out either. That said, we can’t wait to get our hands on this all the same, especially considering importing levels will let us play the entire PS4-era Hitman trilogy inside the headset.

Ven VR Adventure – 2020

ven vr adventure gameplay screenshot

When Ven was first announced we had our doubts that newcomer Monologic Games could deliver on the promise of a lengthy third-person platformer. But, over the course of 2020, constant updates from the studio have reassured us at every turn – Ven’s looking like a rock-solid companion to Moss, Lucky’s Tale and Astro Bot. Hopefully it won’t be too much longer before we know if it really delivers.

After The Fall – TBA

Vertigo Games’ long-awaited follow-up to Arizona Sunshine no longer looks like it will be touching down in 2020 (unless the studio is set to drop an imminent surprise), but remains one of the most promising PSVR titles. Cooperative, Left4Dead-style action has a lot of potential for VR and, though what we saw of the game in summer 2019 felt familiar, it would no doubt still please a lot of shooter fans. Hopefully we’ll see a deeper game come full reveal, but this already looks like one of the biggest PSVR games coming soon.

Blair Witch VR – TBA (Read Our Review)

This excellent VR port of the faithful horror tie-in came to Oculus Quest last week in time for Halloween, but developer Bloober doesn’t sound like it’s stopping there. In a recent interview with The VR Dimension, the studio confirmed it has plans for PSVR and PC VR too. No word on when we’ll see it, but it looks likely this will be a worthy addition to any PSVR library.

Sniper Elite VR – TBA

Though it’s been a long-time coming, Sniper Elite VR’s most recent trailer was promising enough for us to shake off any concerns about development hell. Rebellion’s long-running series looks like it will find a natural home inside headsets, bringing players back through time for top-secret stealth missions and, hopefully, some of the most authentic sniping gameplay we’ve ever experienced.

Humanity – TBA

We were expecting to hear more from Humanity in 2020, but well over a year has passed since it was first announced now. Still, its ambiguous first trailer pictures a captivating world of possibilities in which thousands of tiny humans seem to react to your interactions. Exactly what we’ll be doing in Humanity remains to be seen, but we can’t wait to find out for one of the biggest PSVR games coming soon.

Wraith: The Oblivion – Afterlife – Early 2021

Jumping from the colorful worlds of Apex Construct and The Curious Tale Of The Stolen Pets to the gloom and doom of the World of Darkness universe was a surprise move for Fast Travel Games, but it’s increasingly looking like a natural one. The first VR game based in the tabletop universe, Wraith is promising authentic VR scares. We’re hoping this is an early highlight for VR in 2021.

Maskmaker – 2021

Developer InnerspaceVR earns a spot on this list just for last year’s excellent A Fisherman’s Tale alone. Fortunately, Maskmaker looks similarly fantastic, getting players to visit different fantastical biomes with magical masks. There’s still a lot to learn about this one, and we look forward to finding out more in the new year.

12 New Quest 2 Games We Can’t Wait to Play

Thanks to the success of Oculus Quest 2, the amount of stuff you can play on the Oculus Quest Store is rapidly expanding. Here we take a look at some of the upcoming titles we can’t wait to play when they land in the next few months.

Note: These are just a few native Quest titles we’re looking forward to. There’s also a mind-boggling amount of VR games to play outside of the Oculus Quest Store too. You can play via SteamVR or Oculus PC provided you can setup Link or Air Link and have a VR-ready PC. Also, don’t forget App Lab and SideQuest for unmoderated Quest content.

Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge Part II

Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge first came to Quest back in November 2020, bringing with it a wholly new Star Wars experience. Creators ILMxLAB announced that the narrative-driven adventure is getting its first sequel here this year; the series will conclude in its fourth installment. That sounds like a lot of pirate blasting and droid saving.

Developer: ILMxLAB

Launch Date: 2021 “later this year”

Resident Evil 4 (Quest 2)

Ok, we get it. Resident Evil 4 (2005) isn’t new, but its Quest 2 port will be. Capcom’s beloved horror-shooter is getting a first-person overhaul, which is said to include higher resolution textures, a made-for-VR UI, and positional audio for greater immersion. The only catch: it’s coming exclusively to Quest 2 and not the original Quest.

Developer: Armature Studio, Capcom

Launch Date: TBD

Ilysia

Successful Kickstarter Ilysia is coming to all major VR headsets, including PC VR, Oculus Quest, and PlayStation VR. This cross-play MMORPG is expected to release to backers sometime before the end of 2021, bringing with it plenty of beasts, world bosses, and both megalithic ‘Guardians’ and ‘Titans’ to contend with.

Developer: Team 21 Studio

Launch Date: before end of 2021

Larcenauts

Larcenauts is set to bring the hero shooter genre to Quest in a big way. This six vs six shooter ostensibly takes its cues from games like Valorant, Overwatch and Apex Legends. It’s not only natively coming Quest, but also Rift and SteamVR-compatible headsets, including cross-play.

Developer: Impulse Gear

Launch Date: Summer 2021

After the Fall

After the Fall, the long-delayed co-op shooter, is finally coming to Quest, and its launching alongside Oculus PC and PSVR. Vertigo Games first announced the post-apocalyptic zombie shooter back in June 2019, although the studio recently gave us an eye-full of some updated gameplay, so it’s definitely still coming.

Developer: Vertigo Games

Launch Date: Summer 2021

Wanderer

Wanderer is a VR adventure game that takes inspiration from Quantum Leap (1989) and Dark (2017), letting you travel back through history to prevent the collapse of civilization. It’s coming to all major VR headsets sometime later this year, which includes Oculus Quest!

Developer: Oddboy, M Theory

Launch Date: Q3 2021

Ancient Dungeon

Ancient Dungeon is a rogue-lite dungeon crawler that found success on Kickstarter last year. It’s aiming for launch sometime “soon,” developer Eric Thullen says, with plans to arrive in early access on both SteamVR headsets and Oculus Quest. You can test it now in beta via App Lab for Quest.

Developer: Joy Way

Launch Date: sometime “soon”

Captain ToonHead

Captain ToonHead vs The Punks from Outer Space is a whacky first-person tower defense that puts your granny’s chancla (Spanish for ‘slipper’, often used as an impromptu bludgeon) in one hand and a gun in the other as you build towers and shoot down a mess of cybernetic baddies.

Developer: Teravision Games

Launch Date: Summer 2021

Project 4 (Boneworks)

Boneworks (2019) offers up some awesome physics-based shooting madness on PC VR headsets, and we were intrigued when the studio announced they’d be bringing the game’s mechanics and core systems to Quest and also put it “anywhere we can,” Stress Level Zero says. There’s still nothing out there on the so-called Project 4 game yet, but we’re hoping to learn more sometime soon.

Developer: Stress Level Zero

Launch Date: TBD

Assassin’s Creed & Splinter Cell

After a rash of first-gen VR games and a pre-COVID foray into VR arcade experiences, Ubisoft is again renewing its commitment to at-home VR gaming with bona fide Assassin’s Creed and Splinter Cell VR games. The studio announced both titles in September 2020, but there’s still distressingly little information out there outside of the fact that they will be built from the ground-up exclusively for the Oculus platform, and will “include elements of the franchises that players know and love.”

Developer: Ubisoft

Launch Date: TBD

Against

Against is rhythm game that is all about fighting and wall-running to the beat through stylish neo-noir levels. We had a chance to preview Against a little while ago; it has a lot in common with Beat SaberPistol Whip, and FitXR, but it’s much darker in tone as you slash, shoot, punch, dodge and more.

Developer: Joy Way

Launch Date: Q3 2021

Update (May 13th): We’ve completely overhauled this list, and took out games that have since launched. You can catch many of those over at our Review section to find out where to spend your hard-earned cash.

VRFocus’ Most Anticipated VR Games Still to Come In 2020

Lone Echo 2

At the beginning of the year there were lots of exciting virtual reality (VR) titles on the horizon. Some like Half-Life: Alyx and The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners have arrived and definitely didn’t disappoint, whilst others are still keenly awaited. With half the year now gone let’s look at what the next six months will bring.

Star Wars: Squadrons

Star Wars: Squadrons

One of the biggest videogame announcements in June came from EA’s Motive Studios, revealing Star Wars: Squadrons. What made the news extra special was the fact that VR is natively supported rather than a later add-on.

Set to offer a single-player story mode alongside a competitive, team-based multiplayer, in Star Wars: Squadrons you can pilot some of your favourite ships from the franchise, from the X-Wing to the Tie Fighter. Details released to date indicate a rich experience which should entice most fans.

  • Supported headsets: PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive & Valve Index
  • Release date: 2nd October 2020

The Walking Dead Onslaught

The next big title from VR specialist Survios, The Walking Dead Onslaught is being made in partnership with AMC so it’ll feature characters from the TV show – unlike The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners which had original characters.

Being the second The Walking Dead title there are a lot of expectations as to whether the experience can offer something new and improved over its rival, especially as The Walking Dead Onslaught was originally due last year. It’ll feature an exclusive single-player storyline alongside visceral combat where you can stab, slice and shoot your way through hordes of walkers.

  • Supported headsets: Oculus Rift, HTC Vive & Valve Index
  • Release date: 2020
After The Fall

After the Fall

Vertigo Games has had a busy year releasing new content for Arizona Sunshine for Oculus Quest and VR arcade title Ghost Patrol VR, but the one videogame it’s still keeping quiet on is After the Fall.

Unveiled at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2019, the title is another action-packed shooter. This time taking place in a desolate future consumed by climate change and where most of the population have turned into monsters because of a designer drug. You’ll be able to scavenge for parts to build deadly weapons to survive, and it looked promising when VRFocus previously demoed it.

There have been no recent updates over the last few months so hopefully, it’s still scheduled for this year.

  • Supported headsets: PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive & Valve Index
  • Release date: 2020

Lone Echo II

An Oculus Rift exclusive, Lone Echo II is another title whose launch has been delayed from 2019. A single-player sci-fi adventure the videogame continues the story from the 2017 original – worth playing if you haven’t – where you play a robot called Jack who needs to help Captain Olivia Rhodes survive the perils of space.

Thankfully, developer Ready at Dawn did release an update on its progress in May, indicating that even with the current pandemic development was still on course for a 2020 launch. At this rate, it’s going to be a bumper festive season.

  • Supported headsets: Oculus Rift/Rift S
  • Release date: 2020
Project Cars 3

Project CARS 3

For those after some genuine four-wheel action the Slightly Mad Studios’ Project CARS 3 will be leaving the paddock next month. The series has continually supported VR and that’s not going to stop with this latest iteration.

Featuring a new career mode where players can “rise from weekend warrior to racing legend,” there will be 200+ elite-brand race and road cars both classic and cutting edge to race across the 140+ tracks at locations around the world. Great to see another big name videogame continue its support for VR players.

  • Supported headsets: Oculus Rift, HTC Vive & Valve Index
  • Release date: 28th August 2020

Medal of Honor: Above & Beyond

Bringing the classic first-person shooter (FPS) back to life and firmly aimed at the VR audience, Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond appeared at Oculus Connect 6 (OC6) last year.

Set during the early 1940s as World War 2 rages on, players take on the role of an Allied agent of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS). Tasked with completing a range of missions such as infiltrating a hotel filled with Gestapo agents already looked promising during that initial unveiling.

While a 2020 date was initially slated, currently there’s been little in the way of updates.

  • Supported headsets: Oculus Rift/Rift S
  • Release date: 2020
Low-Fi

Low-Fi

A Kickstarter crowd-funding success in 2019, if ever there was a title which evoked the sci-fi feel of Blade Runner then Low-Fi is it. From Iris VR Inc. – the team behind Technolust Low-Fi is gearing up to be an epic adventure where you play a cop patrolling the dark crime-ridden streets of city-block 303, able to choose between keeping law and order or exploiting its seedy underbelly.

While backers can already play an early beta version as development continues, the PC VR launch is expected this year followed by a PlayStation 5 version in 2021.

  • Supported headsets: PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive & Valve Index
  • Release date: Late 2020

VRFocus’ Most Anticipated VR Games Coming in 2020

It has been quite an incredible year for virtual reality (VR) fans. Headsets like Oculus Quest, Valve Index and Vive Cosmos have arrived while developers have continually surpassed the quality of content available. So now it’s time to look ahead and into 2020. With plenty of exciting content coming in the next 12 months VRFocus looks at some of the most exciting prospects.

Half-Life: Alyx

The one videogame pretty much all VR gamers are looking forward to, Valve’s addition to the Half-Life franchise is going to be a dedicated VR experience. Supporting PC VR headsets – free for those who own Valve Index – Half-Life: Alyx will be set between the events of 1998’s Half-Life and Half-Life 2 (2004).

You take the role of Alyx Vance as she and her father secretly form a resistance against the mysterious alien race known as The Combine currently occupying planet Earth. Set for an official launch in March, Half-Life: Alyx looks stunning from the screenshots released so far and could become the VR game of the year.

Half-Life: AlyxThe Walking Dead: Saint & Sinners

Currently being developed by Skydance Interactive as an official tie-in to AMC’s TV Show, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners is going to be a gory, zombie-filled, shooter. With its own unique storyline set within New Orleans, the videogame will task players with having to deal with constant threats of violence, disease, and famine, with threats coming from both the zombie and human population alike.

Being able to wield an assortment of ranged and close-combat weaponry, players will be able to inflict some brutal damage in their bid to survive, whilst also making life and death decisions which affect the narrative. There won’t be too long to wait either, as the launch date of 23rd January has already been confirmed.

The Walking Dead: Saints & SinnersThe Walking Dead Onslaught

Can’t get enough of the undead and using shotguns to decapitate them? Well, you’re in luck as VR specialist Survios (Battlewake, Creed: Rise to Glory, Electronauts) is also working with AMC on a Walking Dead videogame. The Walking Dead Onslaught was originally due for release in 2019 but the studio pushed it back to improve the experience.

Offering a single-player campaign which also has its own unique storyline, VRFocus previewed the title at the Electonic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2019, finding that: “The Walking Dead Onslaught looks like it’ll provide a fairly brutal zombie gameplay experience for fans of titles like Arizona Sunshine.” There’s no launch date at the moment but Survios has always produced high-quality VR titles so its one to keep an eye on.

The Walking Dead OnslaughtLone Echo II

Before Half-Life: Alyx was announced, developer Ready at Dawn had the most anticipated sci-fi experience arriving in 2020, Lone Echo II. An Oculus Rift exclusive, the original from 2017 set a new benchmark in both visual and gameplay design for VR experiences. However, the sequel has a lot more competition now and expectations are high.

Lone Echo II was supposed to be a 2019 release, the studio announced in the summer that a Q1 2020 launch window was now taking place. Thus putting it in direct competition with Valve’s epic. The sequel continues the story of Captain Olivia Rhodes and your robot character Jack who’s there to protect her. Having previewed Lone Echo II it looks like fans won’t be disappointed.

Lone Echo 2Medal of Honor: Above & Beyond

One of the surprise announcements from Oculus Connect 6 (OC6) in September 2019, Respawn Entertainment finally revealed its first VR title originally hinted at during OC4. Bringing one of its most popular franchises to VR, Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond takes players back to World War II, as an Allied agent of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS).

Tasked with completing a tour of duty across Europe to disable the Nazi war machine, the title will feature both single-player and multiplayer modes offering historically accurate settings, weapons and other items. Mixing up both first-person shooter (FPS) action with puzzles, Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond proved to be an enjoyable experience when VRFocus previewed the title. There’s no release window during 2020 just yet.

Medal of Honor: Above and BeyondLow-Fi

Coming from the indie team behind Technolust, Low-Fi first emerged on Kickstarter looking to raise $60,000 CAD to fund this cyberpunk adventure. The crowd-funding campaign easily hit the target within four days, raise over $100,000 CAD in the process.

Designed to be a massive open-world sandbox inspired by films such as Blade Runner and Robocop, Low-Fi puts players in the shoes of a police officer recently transferred to a crime-ridden section of city-block 303. Here they can keep law and order, solving crimes and advancing narratives or delve into the seedy underbelly of the city, taking bribes, framing innocent people and hanging out in casinos. A fully finished version is expected to arrive towards the end of 2020.

Low-Fi screenshot2

After the Fall

The next big title from Vertigo Games (Arizona Sunshine, Skyworld), After the Fall is another FPS filled with monsters to shoot and guns to upgrade. Taking place in Los Angeles 20 years after an apocalypse began a new ice age, you need to survive this harsh winter environment scavaging what you can whilst killing as many Snowbreed as possible. These horrible creatures were once human but thanks to designer drugs mutated into foul beasts.

Set to offering both single-player and co-op multiplayer modes, After the Fall will be an action-packed experience where you can build weapons, armour and other gear from found items. Vertigo Games has yet to announce when in 2020 After the Fall will arrive, so in the meantime check out VRFocus‘ preview.

After The FallIron Man VR

One of the first VR videogames announced during Sony Interactive Entertainment’s (SIE) State of Play broadcast in March, Iron Man VR is possibly PlayStation VR’s biggest exclusive coming in 2020. Putting players in Tony Stark’s iconic suit whilst playing the character himself, players will be able to fly, shoot and punch just like the Marvel superhero, in what could be the best Iron Man videogame to date.

Marvel’s Iron Man VR is scheduled for worldwide release on 28th February 2020 with pre-orders available.

Iron Man VR

Paper Beast

Another PlayStation VR exclusive, Paper Beast looks set to offer one of the most intriguing and original experiences to come to the headset next year. Created by French studio Pixel Reef, Paper Beast is the work of legendary designer behind  Another World and From Dust, Eric Chahi.

Designed to be a playful exploration videogame, Paper Beast is set in the world of big data, born within the vast memory of data servers.  Here players will find strange creatures and an everchanging landscape, with a non-verbal narrative to follow. Players can not only interact with the creatures they find but also the terrain, solving puzzles in the process. Paper Beast is due out soon, with a Q1 2020 window now in place.

Paper BeastThe Room VR: A Dark Matter

A multiplatform title which was revealed during OC6, The Room VR: A Dark Matter continues Fireproof Games’ award winning series The Room. Designed specifically for VR, this version is set in the British Museum, London, circa 1908. The storyline revolves around the disappearance of an esteemed Egyptologist prompting a police investigation.

Players will be able to explore cryptic locations, examine gadgets and discover an otherworldly element blurring the line between reality and illusion, fantastic for any puzzle fan. A launch will be taking place early 2020 for headsets including Oculus Rift, Oculus Quest, PlayStation VR, HTC Vive, Valve Index and Windows Mixed Reality.

The Room VR: A Dark MatterPixel Ripped 1995

Having begun with Pixel Ripped 1989, creator Ana Ribeiro and Brazilian studio ARVORE plan to make several sequels with Pixel Ripped 1995 being the next. Each one is a sort of homage to gaming of that era, mixing VR environments with some retro gameplay.

The first title was a delightful experience with Pixel Ripped 1995 promising more of the same, now stepping into the 16-bit gaming era. The narrative continues where players have to fight an evil goblin called the Cyblin Lord. This time players are David, a 9-year-old kid from New Jersey who must defeat the evil villain. Currently, Pixel Ripped 1995 doesn’t have a date or window for launch in 2020, so take a look at VRFocus’ preview from OC6 for a little more info.

Pixel Ripped 1995Phantom: Covert Ops

As is quite often the case videogame launches get pushed back and nDreams’ Phatom: Covert Ops is no different. Another title expected in 2019, the British VR developer announced the decision to delay the release until the new year to polish the experience.

From what VRFocus has seen already Phantom: Covert Ops looks very promising, with the core mechanic being that you’re a stealth operative working solely from a kayak. One of the reasons for this idea was gamer comfort, in a seated position you need to paddle to move anywhere, whilst a range of weaponry including a silenced pistol, rifle and C4 are all close to hand for carrying out missions. Once again there’s no solid date for Phantom: Covert Ops’ launch in 2020 so you’ll have to make do with this preview for a little more detail.

Arizona Sunshine’s New Story DLC Now Available

Nearly three years on from launch, VR zombie shooter Arizona Sunshine just received its newest piece of DLC.

Vertigo Games launched The Damned DLC tolday on PSVR and PC VR for around $5. A trailer announcing the release date can be seen below.

The Damned adds an all-new mission to Arizona Sunshine set on, you guessed it, a dam. Set before both the main campaign and the Dead Man DLC, you play as a US Special Forces agent tasked with reactivating the facility. Vertigo says it’s Arizona’s largest mission to date. As with other missions, it can be played in co-op and comes with a new set of achievements.

We first revealed footage of the DLC at our E3 VR Showcase event back in June. The last DLC addition to the game lasted for roughly an hour, which might be a good indication of how long this one will run for.

That’s not all that’s happening in the world of Arizona Sunshine at the moment, though. The Quest port of the game (also announced at E3) is set for release later this year. This DLC will be available on that release too, though we don’t yet know if it’ll be bundled in with the main game or cost extra.

It’s not clear if this will be the final DLC update for Arizona Sunshine but, if it is, it’s longevity has proved to be quite remarkable. That’s not even counting the spin-off arcade games, either.

Elsewhere, Vertigo is currently working on its next big VR game, After The Fall, which is due for release in 2020.

Co-op VR Shooter ‘After the Fall’ to Launch on PSVR & PC VR Next Year

Vertigo Games, the studio behind Arizona Sunshine (2016), announced that its previously revealed co-op VR shooter After the Fall is also headed to PSVR in addition to PC VR headsets.

Update (September 25th, 2019): First unveiled for PC VR headsets at E3 2019 in June, Vertigo games announced yesterday during PlayStation’s State of Play broadcast that After the Fall would be coming to PSVR. The studio says the game is slated to launch sometime in 2020. There’s still no word on whether it will be cross-platform co-op with PC VR headsets.

Original Article (June 10th, 2019): Called After the Fall, Vertigo says the upcoming VR action shooter features a “cinematic and atmospheric” campaign, both solo and multiplayer gameplay, and endgame content built for VR.

Here’s how Vertigo describes it:

Set in the post-apocalyptic, ice-covered ruins of an alternate 1980s Los Angeles, After the Fall pits up to four players against a vast, hostile world in a raging fight for control of the city and the survival of humanity. Go solo or join forces with players worldwide as you scavenge the remains of civilization, face relentless hordes and larger-than-life bosses, craft a huge range of guns and deadly close combat weapons, and wield devastating powers with real-life movements.

The studio will be hosting beta access soon. You can sign up on the game’s website starting today. You can also keep tabs on the game via its Steam and Oculus Store pages.

Vertigo maintains the final version is set to launch sometime in 2020.

“Arizona Sunshine was one of the first full-feature games developed exclusively for VR. Ever since, we’ve been eager to take it up a few notches and push hard at the boundaries of VR again,” said Richard Stitselaar, Studio Director at Vertigo Games. “With After the Fall, we’re bringing VR to life at a scale we believe hasn’t been done before – a seamless multiplayer experience shared with as many players as possible set in a dynamic world that will keep them coming back for more.”

Vertigo is hosting demos of After the Fall at E3 this year. We have feet on the ground in Los Angeles for the event, so check back soon.

After the Fall Confirmed for PlayStation VR, new Gameplay Trailer Released

Back in June Vertigo Games announced its next virtual reality (VR) title After the Fall would be coming to PC VR headsets in 2020. As part of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s (SIE) State of Play event today the studio has now confirmed a PlayStation VR version is in the works whilst showcasing the first gameplay footage.

After The Fall

Offering both single-player and co-op multiplayer gameplay, the new trailer gives the first glimpse at the first-person shooter (FPS) gameplay in After the Fall. Set in a snow-covered dystopian future, players work their way through rundown buildings, clearing their path of monstrous creatures with an assortment of high powered weaponry, from duel wielded pistols to a wrist-mounted, multi lock-on rocket launcher.

After the Fall takes place after an alternate 1980s Los Angeles, where mankind is in the midst of a new ice age due to its own ravaging of the environment. Because the climate became worse humanity began taking an experimental designer drug which began a mutation process. This led to the new horrors roaming this snow-covered hellscape, creatures called Snowbreed.

Set to offer a cinematic experience specifically designed for VR for the team behind Arizona Sunshine, After the Fall is an FPS combined with role-playing game (RPG) elements. During the campaign, players will need to scavenge items to craft an arsenal of guns and close-combat weapons, allowing them to experiment and play around with different combat styles.

After The Fall

Once the campaign is over players can head to Basecamp to complete events, missions, and other objectives. Basecamp also serves as a hub to meet up with other players, hang out, and form teams of four to take on missions.

VRFocus previewed After the Fall at E3 2019 saying: “In its current form After the Fall is a nice generic shooter that would be home on VR as well as non-VR systems. The gameplay is slick, fast and in your face, which tends to mean a certain nuance is missing. Snow zombies are all well and good but there needs to be more, Vertigo Games has the talent, hopefully, it can deliver.”
