‘Project Dali’ Looks Like Adobe’s Answer To ‘Tilt Brush’ And ‘Quill’

‘Project Dali’ Looks Like Adobe’s Answer To ‘Tilt Brush’ And ‘Quill’

An Adobe Research project was revealed via YouTube video, above, showing what looks like an answer to Google’s Tilt Brush and Facebook’s Quill virtual reality art programs.

A blog post by Erik Natzke, principal artist-in-resident at Adobe Research, explained some of the thinking behind the project, which is described as being in its “early stages.” From the post:

Project Dali is an immersive drawing experience in the virtual world. Artists use custom brushes to create, and move around their creations, in three dimensions—they can literally walk through their own paintings. The experience is so surreal that we couldn’t resist calling it Project Dali.

More to come.

Edit VR Video Without Removing Your Headset With Adobe’s CloverVR

Edit VR Video Without Removing Your Headset With Adobe’s CloverVR

Adobe is a software mainstay that serves as the foundation of a lot of creative and business ventures and developments, so it’s no surprise they’ve been quickly getting their foot in the door when it comes to virtual reality. We previously reported on the introduction of VR features to Creative Cloud in April and the efforts to improve the workflow in September. Now, we have a new addition to Adobe’s VR initiative: CloverVR. Diorama reported on the new feature along with a couple others that were demoed at the annual Adobe MAX event.

Held in Europe, North America, and Japan, Adobe MAX is an event focused on new and upcoming projects that will influence the computer design and development industries. During the keynote focused on Creative Cloud, co-hosted by comedian and filmmaker Jordan Peele, we were introduced to a new way to edit with CloverVR. As is, editing virtual video can be a bit cumbersome with newcomers and professionals alike. You can edit in 2D and throw on your headset to occasionally check progress and see if your desired effect works out, but going back and forth limits productivity significantly. CloverVR is a means to alleviate this, allowing you to edit your work with your headset on. It also introduces a scene rotation tool so filmmakers can make sure that the focal point of the action in a new scene is where you need to be when cutting to another shot.

The next few years of MAX will likely see more and more VR and AR as the industries grow, maybe even leading a keynote segment devoted entirely to those businesses. Until then, you can watch the event’s keynotes from this year, from creative cloud to photography, here.

360 Grad Videos in VR bearbeiten – Adobe präsentiert CloverVR

Adobe to Showcase VR Advancements for Creative Cloud at IBC 2016

The annual IBC conference takes place this week and Adobe has announced it’ll be showcasing its latest advancements for its Creative Cloud and Marketing Cloud. Alongside improvements for 3D, motion graphics and character animation Adobe will be expanding its virtual reality (VR) feature list.

Adobe will be unveiling additional information for its next release of Premiere Pro CC, this includes auto-aware VR that detects and applies the correct setting to stereoscopic and monoscopic media. While Adobe Primetime will allow media companies to unlock the potential of VR by building sustainable businesses and delivering premium viewing experiences through video playback support, dynamic ad insertion and content protection via Adobe’s Virtual Reality Digital Rights Management (VRDRM).

“Adobe is helping video creators of all kinds – from broadcasters and big movie studios to YouTubers and brands – create their best work,” said Bill Roberts, senior director of product management at Adobe. “As these stories take shape, ideas need to seamlessly move between tools, technologies and teams. Adobe’s multiscreen solution helps media companies connect with their audiences in a personalized way by delivering compelling experiences and adopting immersive capabilities such as 3D, VR and AR.”

The company has also been working with Goldsmiths, University of London regarding VR user interaction and technology. Adobe held a conference in July in which Dr Chris Brauer, Director of Innovation at Goldsmiths University London said: “Augmented reality, virtual reality, artificial intelligence, wearable technology – in many ways these technologies offer a pathway to these more meaningful experiences, and this was really interesting for us to encounter.”

The IBC 2016 conference is due to feature other VR and 360-degree tech, with SES S.A. and Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute (HHI) demonstrating the transmitting of immersive content via satellite.

As further VR news from IBC 2016 is announced, VRFocus will report back accordingly.
