If you hadn’t already realised today is Star Wars Day, a celebration of the epic sci-fi franchise. One of the best virtual reality (VR) experiences based on the George Lucas’ saga is Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series which is currently exclusive to Oculus Quest and Rift. This summer that’ll no longer be the case as PlayStation VR support has been announced.

Creator ILMxLAB has revealed that all three episodes of Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series will be released in one bundle for PlayStation VR, rather than separated as found on the Oculus Store.
“We are very excited to be partnering with Sony Interactive Entertainment to bring Vader Immortal to PlayStation VR,” said Mark Miller, Executive Creative Producer at ILMxLAB in a statement. “I never get tired of watching people react to Darth Vader approaching them, following them with his gaze and speaking directly to them. We can’t wait to share this experience with a broader audience.”
The series takes place on the volcanic world of Mustafar, the fiery world Darth Vader calls home. You play a smuggler pulled out of hyperspace and imprisoned in Vader’s fortress. When it becomes clear you possess force power’s the Sith Lord begins to train you whilst tasking you solving an ancient mystery.

Offering a cinematic experience where you can use a lightsaber as well as force powers, for Star Wars fans Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series can be treated as canon. The storyline is set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope and has been written by David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight, Blade). It features Maya Rudolph (Bridesmaids, Big Mouth) as your droid sidekick, ZO-E3, while Scott Lawrence plays Darth Vader.
VRFocus reviewed Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series, saying that: “If you’re a Star Wars fan then Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series is a must, for everyone else, there’s still fun to be had.”
No specific date has been set for the release of Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series on PlayStation VR, just that it’ll arrive this summer. For further updates keep reading VRFocus.
