2019 VRCORE Awards Open Submissions

Starting in 2017, the annual VRCORE Awards held in Shanghai, China help to celebrate not only homegrown content but virtual reality (VR) experiences from across the world. This week the VRCORE Awards has now opened submissions for entries across a range of categories.

2019 VRCORE Awards Categories

For this year’s awards there will be a total of 14 awards to be given out, covering films, videogames, location-based entertainment (LBE), mobile, augmented reality (AR) and more.

The categories are:

  • Best Game
  • Best Movie
  • Best Industry Content
  • Best Creative
  • Most Business Potential
  • Best Art (PC/Console)
  • Best Audio (PC/Console)
  • Best Interactive (PC/Console)
  • Best Narrative (PC/Console)
  • Best LBE
  • Best Mobile Game
  • Best Mobile Industry Content
  • Best AR Content
  • Best Mobile Interactive

Submissions are easy, simply head to the official website and fill out the relevant details with seemingly no cost to pay – some, like the UK’s VR Awards in June, requires a £149 + VAT entry fee per nomination. Submissions are open until 31st August with all the entries being reviewed across September – October for the awards ceremony in November.

2018 VRCORE Awards

In 2018 the VRCORE Awards gave Polyarc’s puzzle adventure Moss the highly coveted VRCORE Award, with Best Game going to Nostos from Netease Games. Best Film went to Buddy VR by Redrover, Wangli-Tech won Best Application with  OTO mental health improvement system and Best Innovation went to Hello Kitty AR Park by Mirrorkey.

The awards are just one part of VRCORE, a VR developer community in China which acts as a hub for developers and partners at home and abroad to communicate and cooperate with China’s hardware manufacturers, distribution platforms and capital.
