Beat Games recently tweeted that it had some Christmas surprises in store for Beat Saber players. Last week saw the first of these arrive in the form of an exclusive release called One Hope by American electronic duo Knower. Today, the next Beat Saber Christmas surprise has arrived, viral hit POP/STARS, from the League of Legends universe.
POP/STARS made its debut via a surprise augmented reality (AR) performance at the League of Legends 2018 World Final Opening Ceremony on 3rd November. The track hit #1 on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart and has accumulated over 100 million views on YouTube.
The band is named after the K/DA skins which are available in League of Legends for champions Ahri, Akali, Evelynn, and Kai’Sa, and features the vocal talents of Madison Beer, (G)I-DLE, and Jaira Burns,
“We’ve been blown away by the reaction to ‘POP/STARS’ and the variety of amazing adaptations that content creators from both the League community and beyond have brought to life,” said Tom Ebsworth, EU Marketing Director for Riot Games in a statement. “As huge Beat Saber fans ourselves, both of the game and Beat Games who share our passion for gaming and music, it was a no-brainer that this crossover needed to exist. We’re excited to give fans of the song a new way to experience it and to hear what they think!”
“The moment we listened to ‘POP/STARS’ we knew for sure this is going to be a hit in Beat Saber,” said Jaroslav Beck, Beat Games CEO. “The track is so pulsing and the video is just epic – it matches our game perfectly. We are so excited that with Beat Saber, players finally get a chance to experience ‘POP/STARS’ on a whole new level and literally feel every beat.”
POP/STARS will be available today on Beat Saber, playable HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, PlayStation VR, and Windows Mixed Reality headsets. For further Beat Saber updates, keep reading VRFocus.
