Sci-Fi Mystery VR Title Torn Confrims August Release Date

The upcoming virtual reality (VR) title Torn from Aspyr Media has confirmed it’s release date. The sci-fi mystery puzzle title is heavy inspired by The Twilight Zone and Black Mirror and will take players on a journey through a narrative adventure as they uncover strange machines and disturbing experiments in immersive VR.

Torn- House

Players will step into the shoes of video blogger Katherine Patterson and explore the old home of the famed Dr. Lawrence Talbot, who went missing more than 64 years ago. This could be the story that makes Patterson’s career, worth millions but when she meets Dr. Talbot in person – still alive, trapped in another dimension, and missing his body – it becomes the story of a lifetime that is set to get more extreme as the journey goes on.

Back in April of this year the team at Aspyr Media released some 360-degree images that give a detailed look at two of the locations that players will explore within the title. This includes the grounds of the mansion along with the music room. Both of these are detailed, interesting and somewhat creepy in design. With a strong focus on the sci-fi mystery element, and its inspirations, players can expect an experience unlike any other.

Torn

Torn is Aspyr Media’s first major title and has been written by Neill Glancy (Stranglehold) and Susan O’Connor (Tomb Raider, BioShock), with an original orchestral score composed by Garry Schyman (BioShock, Middle Earth: Shadow of War) and is shaping up to be an impressive title for the studio to make their development debut. Past work for the Austin-based studio includes porting PC-to-Mac titles such as Call of Duty, Sid Meier’s Civilization and Star Wars.

Torn is set to release on August 28th, 2018 (as reported by RoadtoVR) on PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive and listings for the title are already up on Oculus Store and Steam right now.
