Enjoy Some Leisurely Fishing as Catch & Release Lands on Oculus Rift and HTC Vive

Announced during the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2018 in March, Metricminds’ fishing experience Catch & Release has now arrived for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.

Catch and Release Hero

As leisurely experiences go Catch & Release is about as chilled out as it comes. Set on a beautiful lake in the middle of summer – who goes fishing in winter? – it’s just you, a fishing rod and a boat, looking to land that next big catch.

Row yourself out to a nice idyllic location where you can enjoy the local animals and fauna like geese and bears, throw the line out and attract a fish. The interactive fishing rod offers you full control to catch (or lose) different fish, with various bait and lures options plus haptic feedback.

Once you’ve made some decent catches then you can sell them for new gear at the shop, which is handily located on the boat so you don’t to keep rowing to shore.

Catch and Release Menu

Catch & Release isn’t just about finding the next big fish, there are plenty of secrets under the water to locate, and for the unlucky the odd bit of garbage.

And to accompany you on these relaxed outings Metricminds has included over 30 commercial tracks that have been specially curated for Catch & Release playing on the in-game boat radio. Licensed by Flip Entertainment, the tracks have been selected to enhance the in-game music with a non-standard selection aimed at improving the overall immersive experience.

Catch & Release supports Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Windows Mixed Reality through Steam, retailing for £14.99 GBP. A version will be coming to the Oculus Store at a later date, plus there’s a PlayStation VR version scheduled to release this summer. For any further updates on Catch & Release, keep reading VRFocus.
