Educational virtual reality (VR) title that aims to teach users about chemistry, from atomic theory to the titular “big table” of elements.
Created by Prologue, the experience is designed for students aged 13 to 17 and transports users to a high-tech laboratory in outer space where robotic research are hard at work breaking down the mysteries of the universe. Within the fully-realized environment, users are able to explore a complete array of holographic displays and advanced scientific equipment as a means to learn all about chemistry.
“Expanding into the realm of virtual reality, even with decades of Hollywood experience, has been one of our greatest challenges yet,” explains Kyle. “But that also makes it among the most rewarding for us, because we are always striving to become better and push entertaining visual communication further.”
Founded by Kyle and Kimberly Cooper, Prologue is an award-winning production studio with credits across a wide array of mediums including blockbuster films such as Iron Man and Godzilla, to videogame titles such as Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding. With a split focus across title designs and previous experience in VR development, the company created The Big Table as a source of entertainment, learning and adventure for users.
“While VR has a ways to go in terms of scale and reaching critical mass,” adds Prologue Managing Director David S. Lee, “our focus right now is how to best align our story telling and interface design capabilities into an entire new medium.”
Those who are looking for more immersive experiences that will offer all kinds of entertainment should keep an eye on Prologue as the company promises more VR projects in the future, delivering top-tier content thanks to some big partnerships that will be sure to be up to the same standard, or even higher, as The Big Table.
The Big Table is available now on the Oculus Store for Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR for £2.29 (GBP) on each platform.
