Is This The Weirdest VR Videogame Ever? Pants Pants Revolution

There are plenty of rhythm videogames available on the market today with a number of them designed specifically for virtual reality (VR) but none have taking on the form as Pants Pants Revolution. A VR rhythm title about removing your pants.

Created by developer Richard Ziegler, this title is the result of three months of work to create a videogame inspired by YouTuber MowtenDoo and the internet meme of Pants Guy, a young man who removes his pants. Pants Pants Revolution puts players into an immersive rhythm videogame experience in which they stand in front of a full length mirror and must remove their pants in time to the beat. Like other titles, the notes fall down from the top of the screen and timing is key to ensuring a high score.

The title features six different songs, all of which seem to be remixes, along with a number of different speed options to fine tune the difficulty of the pants removing action. Designed for the HTC Vive, players must use the controllers to mimic the motions of removing their pants and do so within a virtual environment that is filled with internet references, 3D lights and even Pepsi man. The title also includes online leaderboards so you can compete with the world to see who has the best pants removing skills and is able to keep in time with the rhythm.

With so many internet references and a rather different approach to controls, Pants Pants Revolution is a unique VR videogame that offers a change of pace to other experiences on the market. Pants Pants Revolution is also able to be played without a VR head-mounted display (HMD) or with the Oculus Rift, although it has not been tested on anything other than the HTC Vive.

Pants Pants Revolution is available now for free via Richard Ziegler’s itch.io store page. You can see a short gameplay trailer for the title below featuring a version of Sandstorm by Darude mixed with Pingu.
