After a slight delay developer Wolf & Wood launched its episodic horror series The Exorcist: Legion VR onto Oculus Rift and HTC Vive last month. Now the studio has confirmed that the next installment, Chapter 3 ‘Skin Deep’ will be arriving by the end of the year for the PC-based headsets. Additionally, the PlayStation VR version of Chapters 1 & 2 are also coming soon.
The Exorcist: Legion VR has been based on the events of The Exorcist III, with players able to experience a stand-alone story untold in the movies across five chapters. Chapter 3 ‘Skin Deep’ centres on: “A wave of infant mortality has struck and a number of distraught parents have posted online, claiming to have heard the sound of an old woman calming the cries of their babies. A copy of one such recording landed on your desk and it’s recent. Can you calm the cries before it is too late?”
Wolf & Wood explain that: “in Chapter 3 players will meet Abyzou, the infertile devil who has been blamed for infant mortality throughout the history of civilization. Many cultures have encountered her and she has been given many names, from Lilith in Hebrew to Medusa in Greek. Her hunger for the innocent and unwanted is insatiable. In this case, a newborn baby.”
The Exorcist: Legion VR – Chapter 3 ‘Skin Deep’ will become available through Steam in the next few weeks for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. There’s been no confirmation on price, but with Chapter 2: Idle Hands retailing for £3.99 expect the price to be similar. The first two chapters can be purchased now for a special bundle price of £7.18, saving 10 percent off the regular cost.
As for the PlayStation VR version, Wolf & Wood issued the following statement: “Currently in the final rounds of VR consultation with Sony, and Chapters 1 & 2 will be concurrently launching soon.” When those launch date details arrive, VRFocus will let you know.
