Last month fledgling developer Roccat Games Studio – the independent spin-off of the gaming peripherals manufacturer – released its first virtual reality (VR) title for Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR, a comedic puzzle experience called Elevator… to the Moon! Now the studio has announced the first update as well as a Black Friday discount.
The update is just for the Oculus Rift version of Elevator… to the Moon!, making it more immersive by adding full roomscale support. So now players can select from traditional point-and-click or roomscale right from the title screen.
The premise behind Elevator… to the Moon! is an adventure in which you play a space repairman. You’re tasked with fulfilling the ridiculous demands of President of the World, Doug Slater-Roccmeier who’s demanding that his broken space elevator is fixed. In doing so you’ll find all sorts of items to play with, some of which Slater-Roccmeier doesn’t exactly want you to find. As you complete puzzles and find new things the President will accordingly react and comment on your actions.
Elevator… to the Moon! was created by a small team of three, Marc Barnes leading the project, Carsten Busold as developer and artist Hannah Paulmann. They managed to build the videogame in a round 10 months, initially for Gear VR then deciding to work on the Oculus Rift version in parallel as well, thus bringing more control features into the title.
The videogame will go on sale tomorrow for both headsets, selling for $4.95 USD on Oculus Rift with the Gear VR version costing just $2.99. These prices will only be available until 27th November.
Looking at the future the team still have further plans for Elevator… to the Moon!, so expect more updates next year. Additionally, they’re working on a new, as yet unannounced project.
VRFocus will continue its coverage of Elevator… to the Moon! and Roccat Games Studio, reporting back with the latest updates.
